Some energy observers say the state is moving toward a future in which Californians will generate much of their electricity on the roofs of their homes and businesses.But if that is California's future, it is not one that is approaching fast.Despite the decisions by hundreds of homeowners to install solar panels in response to state and federal financial incentives, rooftop solar provides less than 1 percent of the electricity San Diego County residents use to light and cool their homes.Bill Powers, an engineer from San Diego who suggests the region should set aside the idea of building a new power line and invest in rooftop solar instead, said there is a reason why: Homeowners can't sell surplus electricity to utilities.Thanks to a law passed in 1996 when lawmakers set the stage for California's disastrous experiment with electricity deregulation, a homeowner can get a credit for the power he generates to offset his electric bill.But if at the end of the year, if what's generated is more than what's used, the homeowner won't get cash for that power.Instead, said Scott Anders, director of the Energy Policy Initiatives Center at the University of San Diego School of Law, "he is donating all that extra energy to the grid."A state lawmaker from Northern California is trying to change that.Assemblyman Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, has introduced legislation ---- Assembly Bill 1920 ---- that would require the state's private and municipal utilities, including San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Edison, to reimburse homeowners for the surplus power they send to the grid."That is what customers are looking for," said Amy Morgan, a spokeswoman for the California Energy Commission, citing numerous calls to the agency on the topic.Under the bill, the level of compensation for homeowners' surplus power would be determined by the California Public Utilities Commission. more

I am bad at it, it's my first time working for a restaurant and im a cashier. We did about a week of training then invited friends and family to the restaurant to help us practice and it was hectic, over 200 people in all came out and even though we didn't have any money in the register we had to practice taking everyone's order and ringing them up along with other duties and i dont like it at all. Im use to ware house work and that after a while was ok after i worked for different company's but the food business is too fast pace for me. i told the manager when he hired me that i am good with people and i am but when it comes to remembering their drinks) he also wants me to be a server) and dealing with customer's money(im ok at math just ok but when im rushed when it get's busy i know i will mess up because i got a bit frazzled when the family and friends day came along) It sucks because im 24 and need a job u know to save money and move out and stuff plus i really like my co-workers and my manager but the job itself im afraid im not going to be good at it. And that was just a practice after training for a few days the store doesn't open until thursday and im a nervous wreck. Im actually scared to be honest and im sure people get nervous with learning new things and taking new jobs but im really afraid im going to mess up really badly. And you all know how people are with their money too so i dont want to fuck up. But if i was to quit, and do it the right way and give a notice or even just go in or call and talk to the manager and tell him how i feel and leave on good terms do you think i would use him as a job reference? Should i ask him if i can use him after our talk if i decide to quit? I love talking to people and having conversations with them but serving food to people and on top of that dealing with their money and having to be fast at it im not so sure i can handle all of that. I may be just over thinking it but who knows. Also im not that good at math i mean i know it's simple add and subtract and the computer does it for you but he wants us to count it backwards to the customer when we give them their change back and i have to practice doing it their way. Jack Conway who is running for senate in KY seems to part with the social liberals on the issue of drugs. Is this a winning strategy for him in KY? Excerpts: " Democrats in Kentucky are high on the possibilities of debating drug enforcement with Rand Paul. The Republican nominee for Senate has advocated cutting federal spending on drug enforcement, which he has said should be left to the states. Jack Conway, the Democratic nominee (and the state's attorney general), is ripping Paul for the stance and claiming that Paul is ignoring Kentucky's many drug problems. The result is a strange alternate reality where the Democrats think they have the upper hand on the tough-on-crime stuff -- and the Republicans are shying from a fight over law and order. .... Paul told the AP that he thinks too much is made of the War on Drugs and its impact on the election. "I don't think it's a real pressing issue," he told the AP. Paul maintains that voters in Kentucky's drug-plagued rural areas care more about fiscal policy and other issues then they do about federal drug enforcement money. It's clear Conway sees an opening thanks to Paul's line. But even before the Republican mused on how much Kentuckians care whether the federal government is in the drug enforcement business, Conway supporters were arguing that the issue is a natural winner for them. Paul's less-than-Draconian views on drugs clash with Conway's tough-guy law enforcement image. If Conway is "just say no," Paul seems to be more nuanced. "I think drugs are a scourge but at the same time I also understand that teenagers -- people that you may be related to, people that I may be related to -- have had drug problems," Paul said, according to the AP. All my life since i was four, i have been a foster child. i have constantly moved either because i didnt like how the careers treated me or because they didnt want me. the when i was 10, i went to live with 2 ladies in their 50's who happened to be lesbians, (they never did awkward things, they seemed more like friends). they had taken in another girl 3 years earlier. the other girl became my best friend i had never been so close with someone before. we both were adopted about 3 years later. then when she was 16 she left and i was traumatized, i cried myself to sleep because i had lost they only person who i had truly ever opened up to. she then came back another couple of months later, and things went back to the way they were although she had changed in some way, she seemed more distant from me. the two ladies adopted another 2 girls who were 3 and 6. things gotta bit hectic. however, a year later we were supposed to catch the bus together and she said she would meet me at home but she never did she had ran away again. i didnt hear from her for about a year then she came back to live with us, she was 17 and was pregnant. when she had her baby it was amazing, however, i felt neglected, everything had changed the two ladies had become angry about everything, they hit the 2 younger girls and left bruses on them all the time it became a very depressing house hold. i just needed to get away, then i started sneaking out with my cousin and her bf (complete creep), and we would just drive. i started wagging school and fell behind in my studies. all i wanted to do is sleep or even die. then when the two ladies were away at a wedding one of them broke her hip. when she came back she was in hospital for a while. during this time the other lady who was the most aggressive was in charge, she hit the girls more than usual (oh and she got charged with child abuse). then one time i came home and needed help with reporting my earings to centerlink as i had never done it before (centerlink is a business which pays students and people on a pention). anyway, she yelled at me and said im so sick of you being such a dumb shit.. i was shocked, my self esteem was already low enough so i said to her excuse me but its not my fault, i have never done this before and if the money is going into your account the least you could do is show me how to do it" she got so mad and kicked me out. i called my best friend and we caught a bus back to her house her mum just told me that i have the opportunity to make the best of this situation and look it from the perspective of how can i learn form this? but i couldnt i went into instant depression. then a couple of days later, the lady who had been in the hospital rang me and said she needed me to go home. They called a cab for me. When i got there the lady was drunk and the aggressive lady did not even acknowledge me. The aggressive lady went to the shops. The other lady walked out to the front of the house and fell over, (it was her first day out from the hospital) she was just lying there i tried to help her up but she wouldn’t let me, she kept saying “don’t leave us, please don’t leave us”. Then the other lady arrived and told me to fuck off. Anyway, i was still behind with school and wagging school had become a habbit. I still just wanted to sleep. Then the lady had to go into hospital again. Whilst she had been in there i had forgotten to report my earnings which meant that the other lady ( the one not in the hospital) would not get paid until the next day. When i told her this she got furious i said camly ( because yelling only made it worse) “ not everythiong is about money” she looked at me with an expression that said i hate you then she said “ in this house it is” i just thought about how much money they earned which was alot, and they always went to the pokies and blew their money and spent it on things they didn’t really need so then i said “well if you dindt waste you money and didn’t spend thousands of dollars a night at the pokies then maybe it wouldn’t be all about money,” after i said that she became ragged, she yelled at me and said “well thats the way it is and if you don’t like it then get out!” i just stared at her and thought are you serious. I said “ well if you want me to i will” and she yelled “ yes thats what i want now fuck off” so i went upstairs to pack my things and i told my sister (the one with the baby)and she just said that it wasn’t my fault, then the lady had called the other lady in the hospital who kicked my sister, her baby, and her bf out for no reason. She also said to say to me that if i chose to leave then to have a good life. But i wasn’t choosing to leave i was being kicked out again! So i called my best friend again and her and her mum came and picked me up. I have been living with them for 5 months now and i still feel the depression. Plot #1: The Superior Anna Friedman is a popular, 15 year old girl in high school who cares immensely about what other people think of her. She is hiding the fact that she has been abducted by extraterrestrials since she was 3 years old and that they have performed terrifying experiments on her. She tried telling her parents once but they acted suspicious about it and said they would put her in therapy. She also has special powers, because unbeknownst to her she is part of an experiment to create alien human hybrids. Her "parents" aren't really married and what they go by aren't their real names, they're just pretending all these years to keep a close eye on her because their will be an alien invasion soon and all the hybrids in the world will need to join forces and fight back. Anna overhears them talking about this so she goes to Wesley, the nerd in her grade who is OBSESSED with aliens because of his grandmother's abduction stories. He has wanted to be abducted since he was a child because he would like a chance to experience this for himself and find a way to destroy the creatures who did such things to his grandmother, who he loves dearly. (She took him under her wing after his parents died when he was 4, so she has been the only one he's ever trusted.) At first he thinks Anna is joking, a popular girl like herself, asking for help about her abduction and what not, but they soon form a platonic friendship/romance and get warped in a government conspiracy. Plot #2: Psyched I just thought of this a week ago so I haven't put much thought into it. But basically, a guy named Joe was born into a rich family. He never allowed them to spoil him, but he has grown up with a comfortable life style which has made him slightly arrogant yet pretentious of the phony people surrounding him. He is very cynical and opinionated, and feels he is smarter than every one around him who wastes their money on joining pretentious country clubs. His family, the Shippley's, are very close with another family, the Eldrige's. They are very tight knit because their great-grandmother's grew up together, as did each generation. They always made sure to have children the same age. Finally, the families decide they want to join. Joe is the same age as snobby Margaret (Maggie) and their families are arranging their marriage even though they are only 17. Joe talks to his father about it and tells him he doesn't ever want to get married and that they can't force him. His father tells him to be open to the idea, and makes him feel guilty by saying that everyone is counting on him to marry Margaret so their families can merge and gain property, start businesses and what not. On their first date, Maggie convinces Joe to go to a psychic with her. He grudgingly decides to go just for the hell of it. The psychic tells him that he is going to marry Margaret, have 3 kids, become a stock broker and end up in a divorce. The cards are bad for him, and the psychic tells him that their is no way he can escape fate. Joe, being stubborn, is determined to not let the psychic be right. He wants to be single, and become a rock star, live life without his parents help, be free and have no kids. Joe meets Beth at school, who is a tough 17 year old girl trying to make a living. Her parents kicked her out after she got pregnant (even though she was raped by her abusive boyfriend who she lives with, and never admitted it to them.) She is emancipated by her parents, and had a miscarriage after her boyfriend pushed her down the stairs, threw her against a glass table and she passed out. Longtime readers will remember that when pro-shamnesty President Bush and the GOP backed a Secure Fence Act in 2007, I called it what it was: The Fence in Name Only. Sadly, the call was all too right. Today, the president will sign a $600 million border security measure passed by the Senate yesterday. It’s another election-year gesture in the wake of Arizona’s SB1070 backlash against federal immigration non-enforcement. Stewart Baker at the Volokh Conspiracy breaks it down: It funds about 1000 new Border Patrol agents, adding to the 20 thousand already on the force. That’s a continuation of Bush Administration policies, which roughly doubled the size of the Border Patrol from 10 to 20 thousand over eight years. A five percent increase in border staffing won’t make a big difference, but it’s better than the Obama administration’s initial budget, which proposed to cut the size of the force by one percent. It also adds around 250 new officers at ports of entry – the legal crossing points from Mexico. That makes sense. As illegal crossings get harder, smuggling through the ports of entry will increase, and these officers will be needed. The bill adds money for a couple more drones, again following Bush Administration policy. Drones have value, but I can’t help wondering how much these will add. The real problem in using them has been the extreme reluctance of the FAA to allow UAV flights along the border (or anywhere else, for that matter). …Much was made of the fact that these increases were “paid for.” That’s true, sort of. It looks as though a lot of it was “paid for” by canceling hundreds of millions of dollars in fence-building and air security spending. Resolved Question: Difficult relationship with my Dad. Why can't I look at him anymore?

Hi all. I don't really know what to do about my relationship with my Dad. I'm going to write what is currently on my mind, it'll be long but even if nobody bothers to read it it should still make me feel better to get it all off my chest. I'm 21 years old and both of my parents are still together. I also have a 23 year old brother. The problem is my relationship with my Dad. He has become such a mess and made so many mistakes over his life that I find it hard to even look at him anymore and I don't know what to do about it. Here is an overview of his problems: My Dad has always enjoyed his drink, but in the last couple of years he's taken it to a whole new level. He now goes to my local pub every single day without fail, and as soon as he returns home at about 6pm he'll open a bottle of red wine and drink it like it's holy water. We've all been monitoring his drinking for the last couple of weeks and we've seen him get through two bottles of red wine in one day at the weekend. He probably has about a bottle every night, that's after 3 pints of larger at the pub. If he runs out of red wine he'll start drinking vodka despite the fact that he hates it. He also smokes far too much, probably about 20 cigarettes a day. I haven't worked out how much he's spending on cigarettes and alcohol but it must easily be in excess of £5,000 a year, probably more like double that. We've found receipts and tabs from the local pub for £350+ a time and he often buys all of his buddies drinks, pretending to them that his business is successful and he has loads of money. In actual fact he is in debt and doesn't spend any money on his family (read below for more on that). His whole life basically resolves around drink, cigarettes and the local pub. He has no ambitions in life and despite turning 57 this year he has no plans to retire and no pension. I would find it easier to deal with if he has money, but he doesn't. He's been in debt constantly for as long as I can remember. He's lied to all of us on several occasions, the latest being just 2 years ago when he promised all of us that if we took out a mortgage on the house he would pay off all of his debts and renovate the house. What actually happened is we now have a half finished house and he is still in a lot of debt but now with the added mortgage repayments. We get letters and phone calls constantly from the the electricity, gas, phone and other companies asking for money. I've also counted three different credit card company's phone up asking after him, he's obviously in financial trouble but he'll never tell us what's really going on. The sad thing is that I can see us having to sell one or both of our properties (he's lucky to have inherited a lot from family over the years, which is the reason why he hasn't gone bankrupt yet). He is racist, sexist and homophobic. I'm sick of hearing him whining about immigrants taking over the country, etc. In reality he has no idea what is going on. I usually just have to bear it because I don't want to get into an argument when he's drunk, it's impossible to ever have a civilised conversation with him. I'm lucky to have a good head on my shoulders, otherwise I'd probably be believing this stuff. Last but not least, he treats my Mum like dirt. My mum is the most adorable, loving and caring person in the world. She's also very good looking, especially for her age, and she often gets successful men flirting with her. My dad is incredibly lucky to have her but he takes her for granted. He just uses her to clean the house and cook meals. He NEVER takes her out anywhere and he NEVER shows any affection towards her. I don't think that I have ever seen him kiss or hug her passionately in my entire life. He's constantly talks down to her and often makes her cry. I've had her in tears multiple times. However, he's always had a soft spot for me. He doesn't like my brother, but he's always been more supportive towards me than anyone else. This makes it very hard for me because I don't want to hurt him, but he's been an absolutely awful father. As much as it hurts me to say that, and as much as I love him, he has been awful and he has caused so much stress and upset in the family. The problem is that I can barely look at him in the eyes anymore, probably because he's caused so many problems and he's changed so much in the last 5 years that I barely recognise him sometimes. Resolved Question: I have a problem with my boss and the manager at Domino's pizza?

I have been working there since August of 2007 and I go on "leave" when a new semester begins in college but recently I cant afford to do that anymore because of my bills so I have to balance work as well as school. I found out that an employee I trained before I initially left is paid $9 an hour while I get the basic $7.25. I spoke to my manager about this and his response was " from a business perspective he is much faster than you so he deserves more money". Now in all honesty I have the experience of training other employees, doing deliveries, opening and closing the store, handling customer complains well etc.. The other employee however goes on 5-10 minute cig break nearly every hour or two, calls his friends and txts while working, has friends come over the store and "hangout" leaves the doors unlocked at night every now and then when he closes up the store, makes dough and goes outside to talk while leaving his work unfinished from time to time and refuses to deliver food. I am not against him I see it from the standpoint of how can someone like that a raise every 6 months to a year while I have not simply because I may or may not be as swift as he is. When people are sick I am on reserve to fill in their spots when they call off and i am friendly at work to co-workers and customers. My co-workers have told me that I deserve to be treated better and to be paid better. The manager refused to give me a raise and replied that I must call the owner to opt for a raise so I did and his response was so " in order to qualify for a raise you must write me a detailed report on dominos operations and inspections procedure, we will talk after that". When I inquired why people who asked for a raise and got one as recent as 6 months ago didn't have to answer any questions and simply got a raise he text messaged me this " you want to keep talking to other people or or just get on what I asked u. A statement about what dominos and operations and inspections procedures. is that too much to ask?..." Now the manager told employees " that I shouldn't act like a ***** and just take it, complaining wont help". Besides this, the manager and owner have refused to buy employees bounty to dry our hands when we run out of hand towels we get a few from the manager but we go days without anything to dry our hands we use aprons or clothes, they tell us not to turn on the air conditioner despite working near a 456 degree oven. the thermostat indoors reads up to 93 degrees last I remember, that being the hottest day. I am not the only person feeling he/she is being treated wrongly, a driver that started working was forced to buy a drivers jacket with the company logo valued at $27 otherwise that person couldnt drive for them. A Dominos in the city has told us they purchase the jackets for the drivers to wear as part of their uniform. They also pay at $8 an hour starting while drivers here get $5.50 and next month will make $3.75 an hour. A driver in training makes less for a few months as well. A driver that has small children was also forced to bring them into work because no babysitter could be found & the manager said if the driver wouldn't come in they could be suspended or replaced. Her small children were in the store by our oven and around or tools which I view as dangerous. Additionally the policy is to clean dishes with water and not soap, I havent seen soup used to wash pizza cutters or any other tools we use in years (at least 2). Is there anyone that I can contact regarding this issue the Corporation accepts email from customers only not employees.@ Aly, where I live at finding a job hiring is extremely difficult here unfortunately. I am going into my second year so I will speak to an adviser for suggestions on work but currently its sucks but I cant afford to quit and I have to combat my boss for a raise to help survive lol. Hello, I may be interested in a personal loan, but my situation is a little unique. Please read below and if you have any ideas, please let me know. I am currently cash poor. I have about 6 months cash on hand, which is historically low for me. I have no specific need for money right now, but I would like to have some extra cash if needed - to take care of emergency, to buy inventory for a business, to not have to constantly worry about cash levels, etc. I am self-employed. For the past 8 years I have made at least $100,000 per year through a combination of salary, dividends/distributions from my companies or others I've invested in, and investments on the open stock market. My rent is about $2,000 per month, I do not own any property and I have no debts. I do not even have a credit card, everything is paid for with cash or debit card. I currently live outside of the U.S., but still maintain an address and bank accounts there. Business in 2010 has been pretty bad. I've funded a business for about $10,000 a month and it has not been working. I am closing up and my obligations to this business will end at the end of the month. In addition, I had a son who was born 2 months premature. I was unable to obtain suitable expat insurance for these needs and I had to pay about $40,000 out of pocket for care (thankfully, he's in perfect health!). As you can see, my on-hand cash has dwindled this year. In better times, I invested in private companies, which is where most of my wealth is now. I own 75,000 of Company A, which distributes at least $0.50/share ($37,500) even in a bad year. I can sell now for $2.50/share if I like, but this seems silly: I generate income each year and the overall value of the business also increases. I believe I will exit this company in 3 years for $6 or $7 a share, plus earning the distributions in the meantime. Company B owes me a convertible note worth $200,000 as of June 1. I do not expect this to be paid within 2 years, but I earn 10% interest on it. Company C is an China-based spinoff of Company A, in which I invested $80,000. I am confident in this investment, but I don't expect to get anything out of it for the next year or two. What would be the best way for me to borrow $100,000 for 12-24 months? I do not want to pay over 10% interest and I would prefer to have a line of credit that allows me to take money as needed, rather than borrow all up front. I am willing to use my shares of Company A as collateral against the loan, but I cannot find any bank (at least online) that says they accept private shares as collateral. I am job hunting like a maniac and having no luck (like so many others right now). I just graduated with my master’s degree (criminal justice) and have been doing freelance work (mostly writing) while in school. However, now that school is finished, I’m interested in finding more substantial work. I have been researching the concept of opening an online store and have come to several conclusions: there are a lot of scams out there; there are many different products/services that can be offered via an internet store; and I have no clue where to begin. I would honestly prefer to go with a turnkey site, which would save me from having to build the site, add check-out software, set up Adsense, and many turnkeys I’ve looked at include purchase of the domain name with the package. But I’m not sure how to tell the scams from the legit sites. One thing I do NOT want to get involved with is MLM, high-pressure sales, or affiliate marketing--I simply know my limits and I don't have the personality for that kind of work. I would prefer a simple business based upon the exchange of a product for cash--I am not interested in scamming people for profit. I am the kind of person who is not happy unless she is actively doing or working on something, so the idea of having a tangible biz appeals to me. I am also looking into drop-shipping, because there is no way I can afford to purchase inventory right now. This situation is long over & done with, but I still feel uneasy about how I 'should' have handled it. Is there a better way I could have gone about things? In a parking lot for a large local business I was about to leave in my vehicle. Driving down an aisle facing the business there is a stop sign. At this "T" traffic goes both ways parallel to the front of the business. I was about to turn left, but there was a lady in her car in front of me at the stop sign. Rather than wait for traffic to open up, she pulled her car out into the intersection trying to beat the oncoming traffic she would had to have crossed. At this point I pulled up about a half-car's distance right behind her. Since there was nobody letting her in turning left, and traffic coming right where she was she put her car in reverse. I didn't have time to honk, so she back into my car at about 3-5 MPH. I knew at this point I shouldn't have pulled up behind her, but I knew I wasn't in the "wrong" during this accident, since she put her car into reverse w/o looking behind her. She got out of her car & asked if I was alright & we both looked at our cars for the point of impact. My car being as old & beat up as it was there was no noticeable damage, and her car didn't seem to have any mark from this incident either. We both got back in our cars & parked them in the parking lot to calm down. At this point I called a grown-adult friend of mine, told them exactly what happened & asked if I should get her insurance info. just in case. I was told that'd be the best thing to do, but after approaching her car she immediatly got defensive, saying she wouldn't give me her info. because I was "driving an old hoopdie trying to get money from her." I told her I would give her my info. as well, and that it was only because that's what I'd been taught to do after an accident. Sparing you having to hear the whole story I ended calling the local non-emergency police number & 2 officers came to hear the story. Since there were no other witnesses, it was her word against mine. She even ended up telling the police that I hit HER car. I told police all I wanted was for a peaceful exchange of information & I'd be on my way. I had no intent whatsoever of contacting the insurance company, but I know you're supposed to exchange info. ANYTIME 2 cars collide. The police did have us fill out our info. and exchange it, but they didn't seem at all concerned that she had refused to give me her info. I told them that even if I DID hit her car she should still want MY info. She just wanted to forget it had happened & part ways. Thank you at this point for having read all my boring banter about the incident. Was I wrong in some way for pushing for the exchange of info.? I have an idea to start a website on the little town I live in. Population is around 20,000 people. It will have stuff like announcing when new businesses open up or when one is closing down, See a pothole, or a stop sign that’s obscured by overgrowth – you’d go to my site, post a picture and I’d get it repaired, a trading post where you can buy, sell, barter, local job listings, also a forum where people can do everything from complaining about the lousy customer service at the Pub down the street to glowing adoration of how someone at some business went above and beyond. I’m also going to have a page on fact and stats: square mileage, councilmen contact info, population stats, etc. The Chamber of Commerce has already said they will provide me with info, resources, etc. (they will be the ones that I report the potholes to). I eventually will sell hats and t-shirts, etc. with the website logo on it, but until then I need to figure out how to make money off this website. I’ve heard of Google AdSense and AdvertisSpace.com I’m not quite sure what they do yet but I will check them out. I overheard a conversation on the subway yesterday between a guy and a female. The lady said I don't know why you moved here because NYC is designed to keep us poor people down. She then told him that between the parking tickets, the tolls, the high rent, the high food prices and the poor edcuational system in the city, he and his family are destined to fail. Heres the story, i have a friend, she introduces me to her best guy friend. Me and her friend hit it off, we become really close, and we start liking eachother. Hello. I would like to become super rich someday. I have four business ideas that I think could be big hit. Some are new ideas, and some are just good opportunities. I have worked at a management consulting firm called McKinsey &Company for 5 years. I left the firm in hope to find job positions at a forunte 500, but I then wanted to start my own company. 1. A boardroom facility business. In these times, many small businesses are starting. They are also mostly homebased. But what happens when a home based business needs a meeting to promote something, meet with the board, etc. Home based businesses simply cannot have professional meetings within their own home. Before launching the business, I would buy real estate in convenient locations. I would then build the center up with boardrooms, secretary services, offices, printers, fax machines, Internet, laptops, projectors, Catering services, and all business needs. Due to limited amount of space, businesses would book ahead. They would pay a fee depending on how long they use the facility. Startup costs could be 50k to sig figures, however, I have saved tons of money from being a management consultant, and I could get investors in on the startup. If the first center is a success, I could open up locations in other cities and eventually become a franchise. Good idea? 2. I would start a consulting firm that consults website owners and online business owners of the quality of their online presence. We would advise small web based startups on what problems they should fix and how they should go about achieving success. I would most likely partner this business startup. We would hire consulting professionals who have experience in the web based industry. 3. A website where people can buy and sell businesses. Currently, there are tons of sites that do this, but a seller of a business would pay a fee to post. Then they could sell there business. However, legal problems may cause an issue. 4. I would start a venture capital/private equity firm that invests in early stage web startups. I have some experience instwrting business. When I was 22, I started a service called the love van. I want to make this as unbiased as possible.. I am 18 years old. I go to uni everyday, which is over an hour away from home. I still live with my parents. I have a job, and only work on the weekend, so I don't earn a lot, but MOST of what I earn I save. I don't spend my money on clothes or fun stuff, just food and travel expenses to uni, I get paid from the government for being a low income earner, but my parents get all the money, which is my way of helping out with bills and stuff, so I don't even get to see the money. My mum never cooks, and that's ok because she is tired after work and so on. Usually I either go without dinner or eat something unhealthy. LAtely i've been trying to become healthier so I'm buying my own food, things which my mum never bought when i was younger because she immediately assumed I wouldn't like. Today she spend half an hour yelling at me for buying my own food. She also yelled at me for not eating heathy, which i thought was kind of contradictory. She then yelled at me for not wanting to talk to her about it, even though i have a severely sore throat and explained it hurts to talk, but i will eat the food. She assumes that just because she doesn't like the food i buy, i won't, but i really do. Is it really any business of hers what food i buy with my own money? She also yelled at me for being lazy and not making my bed or cleaning my room. I don't think it's any of her business what state my room is. I think i deserve more privacy at 18, especially since it's not like i'm not helping with bills. I'm not talking about becoming a millionaire, just having enough money to pay the bills and start college funds for my kids (future kids, i'm only 18!). Animals have been my passion since i was a baby...my family and closest family friends are SO surprised i'm not going into veterinary medicine, or at least something with animals. They're almost disappointed...disappointed is probably the wrong word, but they think that with my passion for animals, and how i am with them, that's where i should be. I've never been good at science though, so i sort of ruled stuff with animals out and i decided i want to teach. But I still want to do something with animals...and i figure, what if i majored in business instead of teaching, and opened a rescue? I know it would be hard getting on my feet, and i understand rescues struggle for money, but is it even practical to make ANY money that way? I'm very good with money and i'm quite frugal. I'm happy with living simply. I thought maybe if i could start off with a small boarding facility to gain enough money to take in a few horses, then let it grow from there. depending on how funds were, i could continue boarding some horses so there was always SOME income coming in. I volunteer at a therapeutic riding center, and that's how we gain most of our funds (boarding). I also really enjoy english, and i think i could be pretty convincing about getting donations ;). haha...so what do you think? practical at all? thanks! I'm 14, 15 in October. I'm looking into filing for emancipation. I know that you have to be 16, and that it might take a long time. My aunt is helping me look into this. She's giving me the chance to get a job ahead of time, and begin a checking/ savings account. Now, my living situation is at home with my mom and her boyfriend. Before you begin judging about the stereotypical status of this situation, let me explain what goes on at home. In November 2009, he moved in with my mom, my 8 year old sister and I. My mom hadn't even known him for a month at the time. In February, we moved. And of course, he moved with us. My sister has reported seeing him smoking in his room when he's not supposed to. And he walks around the house naked. Subjecting us to sexual visuals. Also, not too long back, possibly in March or April, I was in the car with my grandmother. She was taking me to get my belongings for a volleyball tournament I had that morning. When I open the front door, the kitchen is immediately to my right. My mom was on her knees, giving him a blowjob! I was appalled. He stuffed his.. back into his pants as quickly as he could and I ran into my room, stunned, grabbed my things and ran out the door without so much as a word to either of them. After what had happened, I was traumatized. I'm only 14 for God's sake. My mom didn't even bother to call to talk about it. I ran into the car sobbing, my grandma asking what's wrong. I couldn't even talk. So when I finally came around to telling her, she was sickened as well. She called my mom telling her what she did was wrong, and my mom began to tell her off, saying that it was absolutely none of her business. That was the first incident. The second is a whole different story. I'm not sure if it's true. My little sister has a tendency to exaggerate once an awhile, but I don't think she would make up something like this. I guess there was tension in the air from my mom's boyfriend (He's a steady drinker, and would never give up his alcohol. That's what he spends all the extra money he gets on. Him and my mom both. Just thought I'd throw that in there. ) being angry for no reason whatsoever. So my little sister said she was told to come tell me what my chores were for the day. She was standing in the kitchen with him and he wouldn't let her by. He took a cup of cold water that was sitting on the counter and dumped it over her head, and she tried to shove him out of the way so she could go cry in her room in peace. He apparently took her by the arm and swung her in into a recliner in the living room. She bawled her eyes out. He continued to tell her "Shut the fuck up." Several times that same day. Another thing that happened was when my mom, mom's boyfriend, and sister returned from hiking one day. My mom and her boyfriend had gotten into a fight about teaching us how to behave. (Another thing: he rarely calls us by name. To him, our names are "the brats." He also calls us "wenches".) My mom and him came in, followed by my younger sister. My mom and him went into their bedroom and several minutes later, yelling could be heard throughout the entire house. My mom came storming out of the room and screamed, "I can't believe you can't even let me take a nap!" Josh had always wanted my mom to do everything for him. She wanted to take a little nap after hiking all day, and he had replied with "Who's going to make dinner then?" That really set her off. So she took off, leaving my sister and I with a raging lunatic who could have easily hurt us on the spot. I got scared and didn't bother to call my mom, thinking she wouldn't answer anyway. (Something similar but not quite as bad happened a few years earlier, and she hadn't answered after I had called about 7 times.) I called my grandparents, being they're the ones who usually look out for us when this sort of thing happens. I asked them to come pick my sister and I up and they agreed. When my grandmother pulled up, my mom arrived right behind her. She asked why she was here, and I replied that we had gotten scared and asked them to come pick us up. Now, it being my fault not calling my mom, I still would have called my grandma anyway. When my mom wouldn't let us go with her, my grandma called the police. The police talked to us about Josh and what had happened. And I told him exactly what he is/does and everything I could possibly know about him. (He's been arrested to drug paraphernalia and countless traffic violations). Then he continued to talk to my mother and told her how he couldn't dream of how she could let such a character live with us. She ignored that but now she won't let us see my grandmother anymore. Resolved Question: Help Starting/Maintaining a new small business?

I just start a business back in January and am trying to get the financial in order. Without going into too much detail the business is work as a consultation for visiting business people mostly from Asia. The business is most I and one other person. So far I have sunk very little money into the business and in return the business has made may a good chunk of money. The business itself is very seasonal (mostly summer with a few clients in winter). Now the company is at the point that it is running growth rate. A week ago I performed at open mic night at this coffee shop and this guy came up to me after I was done and told me he was a producer and he wanted to sign me so he gave me his card. Right away my husband told me not to call him because he thought he was shady but I didn't think so. I work for a small family owned business. I am in management and paid a salary so can never earn overtime. There are many open positions so I work lots of hours. One opening was in sales so I did this for commission in addition to my other duties. I started working a hospital sale about 6 weeks ago but it didn't close until the owner finally hired a salesman. She was very excited about finally filling this position and absolutely stopped routing any sales to me, even the ones I was currently working on. But I didn't realize this until after my hospital sale was routed to him and he went out and got the contract signed. Everyone was celebrating that the salesman had closed his first big sale but in reality it is mine. I showed the owner the reports I gave her back in June proving the sale is mine. So, I'm 13 going to high school this year in August. I want to open my own businesses and I want to invest in things like the stock market. So I also fell for the fancy words of a matchmaking dating service. I signed up in April 2010 and was sent a referral (date) in early May. Per their request, I sent in my feedback right after the date and didn't hear from them. Well, I've been looking up this business under their current and former names and realized that I am being fed the same lines and similar poor service as as other dissatisfied customers. I called today (July 2010) saying I want to cancel the service and the woman put me on hold. Of course, Shay (my matchmaker, or whoever she is) wasn't available so I left my name and number for her to call back. Three hours later, I called back and told Shay that I want to cancel and I do not want any more money taken out from my account because I am dissatisfied (I'm on a finance plan). It had been two months and I heard nothing (my contract is for two years). She said that sometimes it's hard to match based on the criteria given by the member and that a lot of people are on vacation right now for summer. I said that I told Kimberly, the girl who interviewed me, that it was okay if they had to stray a little from my preferences to keep it open and to get me "out there," and dating. Lo and behold, Shay said that she was actually working on a match for me today (what a coincidence...) and was waiting to hear back from him before sending me the referral. I asked her if there was any way I could stop paying, and she replied, "No." I said, "Even if I get married?" She said, "No, you still have to pay even if you cancel." I know I might have to just chalk it up to experience and cut my losses to the tune of $2000. I missed the 3 day period where I could cancel. However, is there still any possibility of getting out of the contract? If so, how? Resolved Question: What do I do about my marriage problems?

I'm not sure if it's the marriage or just me. My 3 year marriage, 6 year relationship to my younger husband (he's 25 & I'm 28) is going downhill for me. While I love my husband, he has a bit of a stubborn, ADD side that is ruining us. We have had a few bumps in the road (he got to caught getting to 3rd base with an ex last year & other minor related incidents along with temper issues, I was a negative & judgmental nag that loves to help others & left no time for us), but we worked on them. Now our problem seems to be his love of independence. We made plans for ourselves and our lives as a couple that included dreams, goals and a plan on how to achieve them. The plans included us each obtaining our college degrees(me- PC's & business, him- Automotive) at night while working full or part time, working after graduation to gain the needed experience in our chosen industries, correcting our debts,7 open a small business to be able to buy a second home maybe having a child or two by my 31st b-day. Everything seemed to be okay until he left his last job this Spring. While he always leaves jobs after one to two years out of wanderlust, I understood that because at least each new job brought him closer to his desired career field & our business interest. He told me he was leaving the job immediately because they weren't willing to work with his school schedule and that he had another job lined up, without my knowledge. Him being him didn't confirm the new job & ended up unemployed for 2 months before getting this new one, which has lesser pay, no medical benefits like the other one (which I need due to Lupus), and has crap all to do with his chosen career of Automotive technology. As for school, he didn't set aside the money to pay for summer &, as usual, turned in his financial aid papers late, which meant no school for him. Now I'm find out that not only does he want to start a whole new business "one day" in his new job field of driving, but he will no longer go to college. At first he said he wasn't going to college because he was going to work full time at his new job to take of our bills because I'm leaving my part time job next month to bust out my last year of school, like we planned since last year. This made no sense because he was already working full time for the last two years on a strict schedule & going to school part time, I always have money from my savings and other sources which are permanent, and he pays 2 bills while I pay everything else. Then it turned into him only taking the classes he needs to be certified and now into dropping out. I'm hurt, tired, and frustrated because this is the last straw in a long line of him doing whatever he wants without telling me and me supposing to be alright with it. It would have been better if he at least informed me or thought things out before acting & stuck to them, but he doesn't, so I'm always left the last to know but having to fix things having to start from scratch again while he finds something else to do. Add to that the fact that he now wants to start having kids this year instead of waiting for us to graduate and I'm about ready to scream. I've talked to him about these issues, but he just says he's sorry and we start to work on the problems, only for him to soon do the same thing over again. This cycle happens in every area of his life and is interfering with our marriage. I don't know what to do and I've suggested counseling, but he refuses outside help of any kind. Panera / St. Louis Bread Co. has decided to get some free publicity by opening a socialized Restaurant where you pay on the honor system. They have "suggestions" for prices. You can pay the suggested price or less or more or nothing at all. The implication being that those who can afford it should put extra money in so Panera can take the credit for feeding poor people on Yahoo News. Theres already crazy people spouting how all businesses should be forced to operate like this. Are they just trying to help or are they stirring up an already controversial situation (socialism) in order to make themselves look good and gain business? more

Resolved Question: what all do I need to do before opening a bakery?

I don't know anything about opening a business. Is there a website or class or something I could take? I am moving to a small town that has very little in stores and stuff. I want to open a bakery but I don't know what all I need...such as licenses? insurance? how to do the state taxes? basically any and everything about running a business and especially how to get started. ANY information at all would be extremely helpful to me! and no I can't go to college to get a business degree (though it would definitely be extremely helpful.) See, right now I have two kids and I will be living an hour away from school. I wouldn't be able to survive. any money i made part time would only be able to cover utilities house note and babysitter. Food and gas and any extras I wouldn't be able to afford. Resolved Question: I'm looking for some real advice and answers?

This may not be the right place to say or ask any of this but please bare with me. I have tried asking little questions on here and other places in past without much satisfaction. My story will be long but here it goes. I met my ex husband when I was 18 and he was 27. We lived together for 6 years before we got married, at my request. Shortly before the wedding his attitude and behavior started to get more cold and distant towards me. Immediately after the wedding he was a different person towards me. He would come home from work and just started belittling me, yelling, screaming, became violent, threw things at me and across the room, he pushed me and kicked me and when or after I was in tears he would leave. He would not come home until late at night. He would come home the next day and do it all over again. He said many things to me that made no sense. Things that later in my life happened at the hands of other people. Only looking in hindsight can I see that. He would scream telling me how much he hated my family but then If I went to one of there houses or called one of them he would be at there houses. No one would ever tell me anything about what was being said or would tell me he was there, I only know about the times I called or went there. He started going to my friends houses and when I would go there they would treat me differently as well. I had my own business and he started stealing money from the business and when confronted he would deny it. After months of him convincing me it was all me and my fault I asked him to leave and he did. Still being nieve, trusting and down I talked to family who convinced me to leave the home. I moved out got an apartment. I was so relieved to be away from that situation. I tried to go on with my life. Suddenly I started getting pulled over by the police and issued tickets for everything and anything, like no license plate light, not making complete stops, speeding(5 miles over), not wearing a seat belt when I had one on I was accused of putting the belt on before he got to the car, if there wasn't anything they could give me a ticket for they would say they were looking for someone or my car fit a description. At the time I thought it was because I had a different car or because I moved to a new location. I had never had so much as a speeding ticket before I left my ex. I started going to my car in the mornings and I would have flat tires, broken head lights, the car wouldn’t start. I would come home and my door would be open, my dog gone, things moved. There were times when I was with someone and they would notice it as well, so it wasn’t just my imagination. My family always seemed to know exactly what was wrong with my car when it wouldnt start, such as the exact sensor, or they would know whos house my dog was at. I continually brushed it all off as nothing. After the divorce was final it got worse. My story goes on and on, Many people would say I’m paranoid and that I imagined it all, i didnt. I’m asking for people that read this to take it for what is said as truth and not made up. I can tell you that I worked hard, everyday. I cooked, I cleaned, I was faithfull I babysat the children of these same people. I did almost everything any one asked me to do. I was then ridiculed for it all. I was told I was selfish, retarded, yelled at when I brushed my teeth or took a shower and so on, basically I was screamed at for wverything I did. I was a strong independent person when this started for me. I have now become a weak, helpless, stressed, ruminating, lowlife that has not been able to find a way to let go. Die? Starve? Lose their homes? Their cars? We all know that the economy isn't generating enough jobs and the few jobs out there are having close to 5 or 6 applicants per NEW OPENING. (Are you board trolls writing this info down for future reference? Because I hope so! I'm getting a little tired of having to repeat myself!) But it seems as though the conservative consensus (yes, we know who you are. And please...don't try and deny that you said this, voiced it publicly, or even thought about it: Your feelings are *quite* clear.) believes that being on unemployment benefits automatically equates to being on welfare, disability, or some other state or federal assistance program. (They hate those too!) That those people on it are too "lazy" to look for work, or just don't want to get off the government teat. (Because--according to them: "Liberals are wasting money supporting all these deadbeats!") But without benefits, without a safety net, what do you think is going to *happen* to all those formerly, hard-working people? The ones whom had jobs for 20-30 years and suddenly found themselves unemployed through no fault of their own? I can give you ALL a pretty good clue: My wife and I just got back from the food bank downtown. And you want to know what? IT WAS (CENSORED) PACKED! Full of people from all walks of life: A homeless man, a married couple, a few families with kids, people whom worked 80 hour work weeks, making over $60K a year (in a few cases), individuals working part-time, minimum-wage jobs whom are looking to stretch their food budgets for the month. And yes...there were people like me and my wife--on state housing, on public assistance--looking to stretch what they had just a little bit longer at the bread and food lines. And this is the first time in a year and a *half* that I had seen this particular food banked packed with over 73 people. (Standing room only within twenty minutes.) Picture it if you can: 15.3 million people. On the streets, in shelters, bunking with friends or family--stressed out to hell--and being completely powerless because of it. And not having anything to fall back on--because there are those whom believe that they are "undeserving", "selfish", "lazy", and being...what was that word again? Oh, right: "Leeches". Hopeless parasites stealing from the government trough because there are so few jobs to be found or had. (Even on the job boards and in the local papers. Go ahead: See how many you can find that's suited to your taste or skill level! You'd be lucky if you found two or three tops--out of the dozen or so that are there!) Oh the horror! Having to provide for the people is such a BURDEN on the few who often rally around a party that had blown TRILLIONS in government dollars on wars, tax cuts, and other wasteful spending over the years! $34 billion dollars is only 0.0026% of the total amount that the government is currently in DEBT with right now. Why complain over small potatoes? Or are some parties so vindictive that they can't see the forest for the trees these days? Until you've walked in the shoes of those whom are unemployed, you really have no business talking about who gets what and for how long. You really don't. Thoughts? more

Resolved Question: I'm 15 and I really need help and tips about my first job?

The only job I've had, that isn't really considered a job, is when I worked for my dad and his cleaning business. It was when I was really young. But I made money and all that, so I considered it a job at the time. Anyway. I'm very confused about how I'm suppose to approach this. I don't have a resume. Everyone says it's better to have one, which I know I can make online (though I'm having a hard time finding a good example), but my parents are saying I probably wont need one since it's my first job? Also. If a store says it's hiring, should I walk in and ask to speak to the manager, or should I ask the person at the front register about the job? My other question is: I'm open to a lot of jobs and getting experience in the working feild, but at some point in my life, the main job I'm looking forward to involves culinary arts. So if I put that on a resume, but go in for a job at a clothing store, would that look bad? (I can't yet work with food, until I'm sixteen, so clothing stores and such are my best options) I was planning on going tomorrow and checking out the strip mall that just opened in our town, there must be places hiring. Since our beloved Star Trek Experience has been bound up in red tape and politics for what seems to be a life time. I was doing some very hard thinking about the past and how our forefathers and mothers dealt with such issues as we have here with our predicament. Back in the days of the original series a serious letter writing campaign helped change the minds and hearts of the huge producers and well... the rest is history as they say. But in these precarious times we have seen letter writing campaigns not work, neither does petitions or vocal oppositions. I have seen this countless times in government and in the public sectors where the ones in “control” don't care or respect what us people in the “under class” thinks or wishes it is only about the money that they can squeeze from us! So how do we make a difference? WE the people have to step up and MAKE the difference. Here is my idea , all of us (us being every Star Trekker /Trekkie or any name we go by) chip in and WE build the Experience ourselves. Hear me out before you shoot me down with cat calls and laughter. . In these days when all the news is bad and depressing we would be a ray of sunshine, a place to go for hope for the future. Of course have fun all the way! And if done right make some money along the way. Here is my ideas 1.Every fan chips in $1000.00 Think about it if we get 1000 people to contribute $1000.00 that is 1 million dollars! A million that can buy a large building that can hold a lot of people, displays, rides etc. Of course we will not be in prominent places like the strip in Vegas but more like an empty strip mall or ware house with access to transit and car traffic. Basicly we would rebuild the Experience! But with one big difference WE would be in control of OUR future. I know this is a lot of cash for a lot of us, me included, but those who contribute will then be held as presidents meaning they will be helping make the choices in the beginning, until we set up elections and promotions then everyone is elected into office of Presidents, Admirals, Captains. Each rank responsible for different areas of the Experience. Like accounting, engineering, promotions, etc. More money contributed the higher the rank till elections occur. After set up then we disband and the elections happen with ALL ranks voting so that way everyone has a chance to be anything they want to be and not a place for the rich to buy their way in. Other words you have to work hard to get to the top and not buy your way into the position. Now if one can not afford to contribute there is lots for you to do, you can do sweat equity into the Experience, think about it this way, everyone out there is doing things for a living right? You are all electricians, plumbers, accountants, cooks, etc. So there is our construction crew, and book keeping and different labour sectors. After a set number of hours of volunteering you get your rank into the Experience depending on the number of hours, you put in, the higher the rank. So everyone can move up higher in rank the harder they work until officer rank then you have to be elected. Everyone including the ones that contributed money has to work in the Experience a set amount of hours per month every year to keep their rank active and keep there shares. And this is the beauty of the thing everyone can do something from grunt work to office work to even blogging. There is work for everyone with every physical ability. You can work anywhere in the world, all you have to do is something for the Experience to grow and prosper, for instance you can set up advertising for us on the internet and on local TV, as well as spread the word of us by word of mouth, maintain a web page for us etc etc. The first few years we would need a steady flow of cadets coming into the Experience to make this work, and at this stage of human evolution money as well. We will need to constantly have fund raising actives. As well as contributions from all our new and old members. All money will be transparent and everyone from Presidents to the lowest crew-member can see the books and help dictate where the money goes. As well as what the Experience will look like and where we will go in the future. By way of monthly meetings and online votes and polls. And every crew member that is active will have a share in the Experience depending on rank and years into the project. 2. Now here is the hardest part of all !! Getting Paramount to give us the right to use the images and insignia of Star Trek and all its parts. Basicly getting a licence to use the name!! This will be the hardest part of all, they will be hesitant and unwilling to share. As was the case in Vegas, they just kept bickering till nothing had a ghost of a chance to work. There must be lawyers that is willing to help us with the legal matters that are fans too? There must be loop holes and tricks of the trade to make more

I woke up in a dark ally. I was cold and wet and my head hurt. I couldn’t remember anything, not my name, what I was just doing, who I was, what I did, or why my head hurt. All I knew at the moment was that I was starving. Then I smelled something, it smelled warm and delicious. I looked to see where the smell had been coming from; I saw a little pizza shop across the street. I got up brushed myself off, ran my fingers through my hair, and walked over to it. Ok, mental note to self, I know what pizza is. I stopped at the door. Oh crap, pizza cost money. I reached in my pocket, hoping that if I had any luck what so ever, I would have a ten in my pocket. I pulled my hand out to find more than just a ten, it was a whole wallet. I opened it up to find lots of 100 dolor bills, man I must be rich, I also found a drivers license. It said my name is Daniela and my picture was beautiful. I went into the pizza place, bought a slice of cheese pizza, and walked out. The whole time I was eating the pizza I was thinking about how I got the money. Maybe I inherited it, or maybe I stole it. Was I a thief? So just hop in my van and I will take you to him.” I don’t know how but I had this strong feeling, more like an alarm going off in my head, that he had been sent to get me, but not to bring me to my father. I had to think up a plan to get him distracted while I ran. But I had to think this through; he looked like he was fast and strong and could catch me easily. I on the other hand didn’t look much like a runner, but I still had to try right? “Uh…my father is dead…” I said in a hopefully convincing voice. As he was sitting there looking at me like I had four sets of eyes, I ran as fast as I could. I was surprisingly fast. I didn’t know where I was going to run to. He was kind of close on my tale. Maybe I should go to a police station, they would help right? No I couldn’t do that. What if I did steal that money and he was a cop sent to take me to prison. I’m just going to keep running till I find some place to hide. Suddenly some guy jumped in front of me. It seemed as though he had jumped off a roof, but thats impossible. “RUN!” He didn’t have to tell me twice, I ran away and heard him call over his shoulder ‘I’ll hold them off’. I had gotten really far away when I stopped. I was so out of breath I was panting like a dog. My throat hurt and so did my feet; I need to find a place to rest after all this madness. I walked a few blocks and found an Inn, it looked nice and quiet. I walked in, it smelled like herbs and spices. I walked up to the desk to find a small old woman writing something down on a piece of paper. “Can I help you dear?” she said in a voice like silk. “Um… how much is a room?” “Mother of god!” she said in a shocked tone when she finally looked up at me, “what happened to you? You look like you have been beat up with a bat.” I hadn’t looked at myself in a mirror yet, but if what she was saying was true, then it would explain why I have been getting funny looks all day. “Oh…um-” “you go upstairs right now to room 1 and wash up. I’ll bring you some cloths and a nice hot meal.” “Um… ok. How much do I owe you.” “We will deal with that later.” “Ok” I said as she pushed me gently up the stairs. When I got in the bathroom I could see why she was so shocked. My face was covered in dirt and dried blood, my hair was a rats nest of hair and blood, and I had scrapes up my arms. When I took my shirt off I could see that wasn’t all. I had bruises from what looked like small golf balls on my shoulders, my chest had a claw mark across it, and my back was a mess of scrapes and bruises. When I took a shower and scrubbed my head I could feel cuts and bumps. When I was done I p blow dried my hair, brushed it, and whipped the steam off the mirror. So... I was raised in a abusive home... when i was about 14 i started talking to this guy online. He was my "bf"- really more like a best friend. He helped me get through some tough stuff... my mom being beaten by her husband... and me being beaten by him. This went on for about 2 years... until he convinced me it was time for me to get out.... I finally got up the courage to go to my school and tell them. (he pushed me a lot and that helped) eventually i got out of the house and went to live with my grandfather. A few months later we "broke up" got back together "broke up" over and over again. This really hurt me, but i kinda knew it was coming, and to be honest in a way i was kinda glad to see it end. When i was around 17 i started dating this guy that i have known since i was about 13 or 14 (we were just friends but lost contact for a long time, and then regained contact when i was 17 and started dating).... so, me and him date for a long time, eventually (me now 21) got married actualyl aobut 2 months ago. i have a great relationship and i love my husband more than anything in the world. However i find i still talk to this other guy occasionally, dont get the wrong idea i have no feelings for this guy at all...but what it really boils down to is that i find myself keeping in contact (talking to him 1x every 1-3 months) mainly because i feel like i owe him something for helping me out of that situation... So, anywho... the more i talk to him at all now the more i just fucking hate him... everything about him... he used to be like an amazing person, or maybe i just didnt see how much of a douche bag he was reguardless he definately has changed a lot. he was the nice virgin guy stright arrowed caring etc... now he lays with anything he can get (which is probably not much anyway) smokes regularly, drinks reg... etc etc i could go on and on but i think you get the point anywho, it seems like he only talks to me now when he needs/wants somethign... mainly always asking for money or something related to money anyway... he always makes little comments like: "what running low on the hundreds of thousands" or "i have no sympathy for you, im trying to barrow x amount for x from someone" like, i know me and my husband are young and more well off then the average but i just find these comments very offensive... (the second one was in reguards to me tlaking about how we just had a car accident and due to our injuries we havent been able to work much) and then yesterday he tells me he wants to run a business proposal past me and my husband so i say okay since i didnt want to just dismiss him and be a douche. so... he sends me the business "plan" which consisted of basically a schedule of when the business would be open and a layoutof the building... ooo and some of the peoples "links of articles" that hed be working with that "volunteered" to help him. his brilliant idea that he asked me to invest 50k into is a haunted house? he then proceeded to tell me how he would pay me back the 50k within 2 weeks of the place being open and a "gift" of 10k additional also within 2 weeks of being opened. my first response was that it could work but i dont think that it would and thanks for thinking of us but were not interested... but he proceeded to push it so i told him that going into a business with the assumption that your going to make 50k in the first 2 weeks of pure profits is a vasssstttt over estimate. (not includding that his business idea is crap) then his defense to that was "well we will" also i forgot to mention if the business went belly up it would basically be "o well" since him and his "business partner" are both unemployed. obviously i know i was right for turning this "business opportunity" down - honestly sounded more like a scam to me. but to be honest im more pissed that he fucking asked me in the first place. to ask someone you dont even speak to on a regular basis for 50k? and also on top of that a couple days ago, he texts me saying hi and "i miss tlaking to you sometimes" like wtf its just really pissed me off since its blantly fucking obvious that he just made the effort to talk to me to try an get me to "invent" in some doomed to fail bs business.... i really want to just bitch him the hell out... am i wrong? what would you do?what should i do?he basically said that he understands that he helped me out of that situation... which is why i pretty much stayed friedns with him thus far. - but after him pushing his "business idea" tonight he basically said to cut him loose because its not worth it. while i agree but still kinda feel bad... guess its just realising the reality that hes not the guy he once was.... its saddening. i just wanted to get some outsiders opinions before i end up exploding on him... since its pretty much at the point where i just wanna scream at him more
