Beasley v Rose

Yet there was Steve Schanwald, the team's executive VP of business operations, holding a giant card with the team logo on it, giving thumbs up to the camera and telling the national TV audience the best way to order season tickets.

But now comes the vital question for owner Jerry Reinsdorf, GM John Pasxon and a head coach still to be determined: Who do the Bulls take? Will it be Kansas State forward Michael Beasley, the scoring and rebounding machine that was a first-team All American last season? Or how about Memphis point guard Derrick Rose, the Windy City native who took his team to the brink of the National Championship? Perhaps a trade, maybe swapping the pick for Denver's Carmelo Anthony or Dirk Nowitzki from Dallas.

The old school thinking is go with Beasley. more

Open Question: What major and minor?

I am majoring in international business. I have to double major with another business field, what should that be? I was thinking entrepreneurship or management. They offer finance, accounting, and marketing as well with others that I cannot recall at the moment. Then, I want to minor in something. I was considering computer science since it is a major field but I am unsure if I will like it. Classics, which I would like but I am not sure how helpful. Business Law, which I might go toward law school as well. Or just anything else that would be both beneficial and fun. Thanks. more

Open Question: What is the problem with some Aries ( i am a Sagittarius )?

Ok, this is the situation. Every since one of my old friends introduced his lover to me its been a problem. My friend ( a GEMINI ) and his lover (a Aries ) started dating and i noticed that me and my friend (gemini) got extremely distant. Well over a period of time his lover ( the aries ) decides to hit me up on yahoo, and we would have random conversations. Well to make a long story short, me and the gemini isnt friend anymore and i honestly feel its because of the aries and the gemini need for a lover and attention. He have all this new confidence and its only because he have a lover ( the aries), which i have personally seen down him as a person, and try and move him away from his very dreams. BUT the gemini refuses to break up or even move on, they have even been abusive. What lead to our friendship ending was the fact that his lover started to try and talk to me on a relationship level. And i wasnt havent it. So i confronted my friend about it ( the gemini) and some how it was my fault. So thats over with. But as far as the Aries, even when i run into him today its always strange questions that he ask. Most of them are about my finances, business, who bought me this, how can i afford that,....etc. Its irritating as hell. Its negative and extremely bytch like. So last week, i was out to dinner with my friends and my OLD Friend ( the gemini) and his Lover ( the Aries ) was there. They decided to come and sit with us. I didnt care, but the look on my old friend face was priceless, he looked either pissed at something or just irritated in general. So once again, the lover ( Aries ) started a conversation about himself some how...and i started to text on my phone, so he got louder, and i looked up like dude....wtf we are in a restaurant. One of my friends changed the subject towards who ordered what ( we was at TGI Fridays ). After about 5 minutes of conversation, the Aries once again pointed out things that he once into, and then tried to point out his age which is older and that he is becoming more accomplished, I told him that it was great that he was following his dreams. So then he started to ATTEMPT to point out and give me advice on things along with asking me more questions about my finances, business and new ventures i was getting into. I completely ignored him and it pissed him off and i changed the subject. What the fuck kinda of Aries is this PLEASE....someone tell me what is going on here????????????????(Jensen) The gemini and I aren't friends anymore basically because he take his lover sign over mine. Even though, i always have given him positive insight on anything he needed. But when it come to dating he just can't help but to fall weak to his lovers. The Aries (his lover) on the other hand, want to remain my friend, but he always find ways to get into my finances and what I am doing, and who i am seeing. I dislike that alot. It honestly feel like he want to compete with me as a person but he and I both know that he can't. I am extremely outgoing and humble. And he pushes things on people to try and find out information. Its extremely irritating and childish. He down people it seems to make himself look better, or down everyone elses success or situations to make himself the center of attention when i don't have to do that.(Matthew Teti) Thank you for that. I am trying to see both sides of the picture here, I don't want to get big headed, but i honestly feel the same way about what you are saying. I feel that not only if i stay remain the aries friend that it could get worst, but i feel that i honestly cant trust him as a person. He seem to be up to something always. I mean how does my finances and business always seem to catch his eye, even though he swear i am younger then him....etc. Its like he want to know how i am becoming successful, and want to possibly steal ideas in the process. And as far as the Gemini, its a lost call. I have been friends with 2 geminis that just get crazy when they date people. They will treat everyone around them like shyt until they need them again. Which isn't cool for a friend. FYI, i told this friend his lover tried to talked to me, even showed him the evidence, and he still remained lovers and even more distant from me. Its cool though. Because that is a weakness.(ELENA).....i havent been in close contact with them for about 2 years. but the Aries always find ways to keep in touch....the TGI Fridays ordeal was out of the blue. I was there with another group of friends when they came to sit with us. I am not the gemini's friend at all anymore, and he lover want to stay friends...but i still keep my distance....(@GAMER) well honestly the one reason i asked....was because "ARIES" have a flaw sometimes of being envious, jealous and controlling....you may not have known that or just don't want to admit it. But its true sometimes....sorry more

Resolved Question: Republicans Block Election Finance reform Bill... ? Why do the Tea Partiers endorse Republicans?

Republican senators have blocked a bill to require an unprecedented level of public disclosure of who pays for political campaign advertising. The Disclose Act had been drafted by Democrats in response to the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision that overturned federal and state limits on independent expenditures by corporations to support or oppose candidates.... Here is yet another perfect example of Big Business Gov protecting their system... You guys keep saying how independent you are but the vast majority of "your" candidates are Repubs or repubs turned Indy... where are your Progressive endorsements ? Progressives seem to be the only element in the federal Government with the citizenry as their main priority.. and yet there isn't one single anti big Gov Tea Party Endorsed Progressive ? Why ?>all true progressives are "Financially responsible"... Responsible to the People of this country not the corporate empire that is using you. Open Question: She is not telling me everything, What should I do?

My fiancee (for who I have known for 6 months) tells me that she loves me (more than her children, and everything in the world). We are living together, and want to get married in February in Hawaii (on her so-called expenses). However, some serious stuff has recently happened. Her car got repossessed by the lender, and it had some very important things of mine inside. So now we are living off of one car, renting an expensive house, and my important business items are missing. And she is looking at me like she is a sad little girl. I don't know what to do. She is not telling me everything (i.e. how much she is paying for the car, how will she finance the Hawaii trip, etc.....). What should I do? more

Open Question: Is this a unethical way to do business?

My parents primary source of income comes from real-estate. Basically they buy a piece of land and build houses, condominium, townhouses and small malls. We finance, at a higher interest than banks and if they don't pay we maintain ownership of the property and re-sale it. We also, buy foreclose homes and we also do another type of purchase, were we buy the taxes from home and basically purchase a good property for less(between 30,000-50,000). In the process, we evict the owners and resale it for a huge profit. The later event usually come when kid inherit their parents home. They don't make enough to pay for taxes and the house goes to the market, even tho the house is fully paid for. How responsible is the person purchasing the home of their mistake? We provide a avenue for them to reach their dream. Then, why do people blame us for taking advance of them? We also have bills to pay, mortgage, and wagers for our employes. more

Open Question: Which between marketing or finance would be more lucrative?

I would like to add one of the said minors to my major. I would probably change one of those to a second major if I was thinking about this earlier in my college career; the major I have now (psychology) is pretty much complete at this point. I am trying to decide which I should add on, but wanted some additional insight and comments. In my research, it looks as if marketing is one of the fields of study that is currently 'in demand'? for lack of better description, but I have been told finance is a very good field to get into as well. My impression that I've gotten is it's (finance) not something that is (as opposed to other business fields like accounting or operations management) that could be done by anybody through training or being taught how to do it because it takes analysis that others might not have. Not to put down the other fields of study, I know people in all these business related majors.. So I'm just thinking if I should go into marketing (which coming from psychology serves more interesting subject matter for me) but that may fluctuate in demand? I wasn't sure about this, or if it would be wiser to go into finance. I may have based this decision on mistaken pretenses, but feel free to correct me if my thoughts are wrong or if you have any advice. more

Open Question: I have a business/finance problem I need help with. Net Profit, Raising Expenses.?

Assume: Sales - $400k COGS - 41% Rent* - 6% Other expenses - 50% Net profit - 6% *Rent is a fixed amount, not based on sales. Questions - If rent goes up 37.5%, how much do sales need to increase to maintain a 6% net profit? If rent goes up 37.5%, how much do sales need to increase to raise net profit to 8%? Same two questions if rent goes up 50%. My initial thought was that you would need more information if the rent was fixed. Then I thought it might be asking what the rent would be from your leftover expenses... COGS - 164,000 Other - 200,000 Net Profit - (400,000 * .06) = 24,000 Rent = $720? Rent increase to 37.5(or $4500) - need to increase sales $3780? Rent increase to 37.5 to raise net profit to 8%.I worked it some more and came up with these answers. Anyone care to check these? COGS - .41 x 400,000 = 164,000 Rent - .06 x 400,000 = 24,000 Other exp. - .50 x 400,000 = 200,000 37.5 rent 6% npm = 150k sales increase 37.5 rent 8% npm = 300k sales increase 50% rent 6% npm = 200k sales increase 50% rent 8% npm = 400k sales increase more

Open Question: How do I effectively and efficiently engage a new client in a lawfirm office?

Hi. I have a father who is not running his law firm office the way that it should be run, he's not charging people before he does business with them and then when it's time to collect funding- they tell him that it is coming and then they dodge him for as long as they can. He did work for free on so many occasions, and still and yet yelps how poor he is when a matter or other requires his finances! His secretary/adminstrative assistant does not do her job of running the office very effectively or efficiently, and basically a new client will be coming in tomorrow. How can I begin to turn my father's office around, to greet this client tomorrow and also to set up some new rules that his secretary when she comes back from vacation, can follow as well. I don't even know where to start with this legal thing. I'm only helping my father out while the Sec is on vacation. I want to know how to greet the client and then how to tell her the charges for seeing my father, which has been hugely discounted to $50.00 consultation when his collegues get up to $500.00 consultation and thing is he is just as well-known and even more well known than most of them---- how do I begin? How does a letter of engagement look? more

Open Question: Any career advice for me?

Hello. I just got my MBA from Harvard Business School and got my under grad from Cornell. I have also been taking business management courses. My future life goals are to become very wealthy (multi millionaire), have a wife, and have a family, a mansion, an a luxury apartment in NYC which is probably where I will work. Currently, I have been offered a job at viacom (ranked 171 in fortune 500). It is a huge and top media company that owns brands such as Nick, MTV, vh1, bet, comedy central, etc. I would be in the business and finance field of the company. The job growth rate at the company is huge, however, there are many turnovers. My advantage is that my dads great friend is an executive at viacom. He is making multi millions a year, is very wealthy, and lives the luxury lifestyle people dream of. My goal is to become an executive at viacom. He has told me that if I accept the job, he will help me through my career to achieve my goals. However, I have been looking into viacom salaries and found that most people are making very little money. (50k and less). If i were to be living in NYC, I would need a six figure salary to start. Do you think that my field in the company and my going to Cornell and harvard could land me a beginning six figure job. How much xo you think I could make at the beginning. I would then work my way up and stay with the company for some time. When my time is then, i will hopefully become an executive and become very rich. Also, viacom work hours are somewhat normal, so I would have time with my family. How much do you think I could make at viacom in the beginning. Should I take the job? more

Voting Question: Legally getting out of a dating service contract?

So I also fell for the fancy words of a matchmaking dating service. I signed up in April 2010 and was sent a referral (date) in early May. Per their request, I sent in my feedback right after the date and didn't hear from them. Well, I've been looking up this business under their current and former names and realized that I am being fed the same lines and similar poor service as as other dissatisfied customers. I called today (July 2010) saying I want to cancel the service and the woman put me on hold. Of course, Shay (my matchmaker, or whoever she is) wasn't available so I left my name and number for her to call back. Three hours later, I called back and told Shay that I want to cancel and I do not want any more money taken out from my account because I am dissatisfied (I'm on a finance plan). It had been two months and I heard nothing (my contract is for two years). She said that sometimes it's hard to match based on the criteria given by the member and that a lot of people are on vacation right now for summer. I said that I told Kimberly, the girl who interviewed me, that it was okay if they had to stray a little from my preferences to keep it open and to get me "out there," and dating. Lo and behold, Shay said that she was actually working on a match for me today (what a coincidence...) and was waiting to hear back from him before sending me the referral. I asked her if there was any way I could stop paying, and she replied, "No." I said, "Even if I get married?" She said, "No, you still have to pay even if you cancel." I know I might have to just chalk it up to experience and cut my losses to the tune of $2000. I missed the 3 day period where I could cancel. However, is there still any possibility of getting out of the contract? If so, how? Two ideas I had: The contract I signed is missing part of a section and the business' address doesn't pop up on any search I do. Could those be two possible ways of getting out a contract? I am definitely taking notes now of any conversations I have with Membership Services in case I file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. more

Resolved Question: Why would anybody ever vote for "any" Republican or even a "Conserva-Democrat" if they were aware of this info?

http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/the… The Middle Class in America Is Radically Shrinking. Here Are the Stats to Prove it "the globalism and "free trade" that our politicians and business leaders insisted would be so good for us have had some rather nasty side effects. It turns out that they didn't tell us that the "global economy" would mean that middle class American workers would eventually have to directly compete for jobs with people on the other side of the world where there is no minimum wage and very few regulations. The big global corporations have greatly benefited by exploiting third world labor pools over the last several decades, but middle class American workers have increasingly found things to be very tough. Here are the statistics to prove it: • 83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of 1 percent of the people. • 61 percent of Americans "always or usually" live paycheck to paycheck, which was up from 49 percent in 2008 and 43 percent in 2007. • 66 percent of the income growth between 2001 and 2007 went to the top 1% of all Americans. • 36 percent of Americans say that they don't contribute anything to retirement savings. • A staggering 43 percent of Americans have less than $10,000 saved up for retirement. • 24 percent of American workers say that they have postponed their planned retirement age in the past year. • Over 1.4 million Americans filed for personal bankruptcy in 2009, which represented a 32 percent increase over 2008. • Only the top 5 percent of U.S. households have earned enough additional income to match the rise in housing costs since 1975. • For the first time in U.S. history, banks own a greater share of residential housing net worth in the United States than all individual Americans put together. • In 1950, the ratio of the average executive's paycheck to the average worker's paycheck was about 30 to 1. Since the year 2000, that ratio has exploded to between 300 to 500 to one. • As of 2007, the bottom 80 percent of American households held about 7% of the liquid financial assets. • The bottom 50 percent of income earners in the United States now collectively own less than 1 percent of the nation’s wealth. • Average Wall Street bonuses for 2009 were up 17 percent when compared with 2008. • In the United States, the average federal worker now earns 60% MORE than the average worker in the private sector. • The top 1 percent of U.S. households own nearly twice as much of America's corporate wealth as they did just 15 years ago. • In America today, the average time needed to find a job has risen to a record 35.2 weeks. • More than 40 percent of Americans who actually are employed are now working in service jobs, which are often very low paying. • or the first time in U.S. history, more than 40 million Americans are on food stamps, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture projects that number will go up to 43 million Americans in 2011. • This is what American workers now must compete against: in China a garment worker makes approximately 86 cents an hour and in Cambodia a garment worker makes approximately 22 cents an hour. • Approximately 21 percent of all children in the United States are living below the poverty line in 2010 - the highest rate in 20 years. • Despite the financial crisis, the number of millionaires in the United States rose a whopping 16 percent to 7.8 million in 2009. • The top 10 percent of Americans now earn around 50 percent of our national income. Giant Sucking Sound The reality is that no matter how smart, how strong, how educated or how hard working American workers are, they just cannot compete with people who are desperate to put in 10 to 12 hour days at less than a dollar an hour on the other side of the world. After all, what corporation in their right mind is going to pay an American worker 10 times more (plus benefits) to do the same job? The world is fundamentally changing. Wealth and power are rapidly becoming concentrated at the top and the big global corporations are making massive amounts of money. Meanwhile, the American middle class is being systematically wiped out of existence as U.S. workers are slowly being merged into the new "global" labor pool. " Shouldn't we go back to real progressives, that support the idea of "We The People" instead of these corporate sell-out Republicans and the "New Dem's" that have now are scattered throughout the Democratic party? more

I will be graduating with a bachelor's degree in Communication from Indonesia in mid 2011, and I have a pending permanent residency for Canada which I must activate by 2012. My city of preference would be Vancouver, but I really am willing to consider anywhere in Canada. My current GPA is 3.61, and I'm planning to get a scholarship, or at least financial assistance which I can supplement by working in Canada. I am looking for information on a postgraduate program about community development in developing countries; how geography, the sociopoliticocultural climate, and the education of those countries impact the advancement of those nations; and how international organizations and foreign relations with developed countries can help the advancement of those developing countries. In terms of prerequisite, I'd imagine that communication will be a widely used discipline in this kind of studies; plus in my current bachelor's program I have studied subjects like anthropology, sociology, intercultural communication, psychology, Napoleonic law, and politics. I'd eventually want to split my residence between Indonesia and Canada, conducting community development projects in Indonesia by means of education, vocational equipment of young people, and small business development among competent adults. If possible, I'd prefer to not have to ask my parents to pay for anything; which means that I will need to work when I come to Canada. I've been informed of "co-op" programs where international students can come to study postgrad at a Canadian college while working on an internship program and getting paid for it; and if I need more money still, I can apply for additional work on campus or find a scholarship. I'm setting a goal to come to Canada by September 2011. The Canadian Education Services International in Jakarta has told me to prepare mainly a TOEFL or IELTS test, my latest transcript from my current bachelor program, and a college and program in mind; which I will undoubtedly prepare ASAP. In terms of finance, how should I prepare? I've been told that an international student in Canada should expect to spend about CA$800-CA$1000 per month, including room and board, transportation, books, health insurance etc. So I'm assuming that from here at least I should prepare airline tickets, the first installment of tuition fees, living funds for the first month or two and settle with the co-op program to make sure that I have a job as soon as I arrive there? How does this work out? How much could I make on co-op, and what kind of work would it be? How much could I make on campus work, say assisting professors in classes or research? If my program is only about a year, what can I do to get a good scholarship or financial assistance, say within the first three months I arrive in Canada? Any ideas how I can plan a well thought out financial strategy between now and February 2011?Thanks Lisa. I've been told that $CA800-1000 is about an all-in budget for a student living on campus in the dorm, but I wouldn't know. What do you say is a reasonable student budget for Vancouver, and would co-op and/or on-campus work assistance cover that? What are some other things that I will have to take into account in planning my finances to go study in Canada by next year? more

Voting Question: For those who were here last night, do these statistics look familiar?

http://finance.yahoo.com/tech-ticker/the-u.s.-middle-class-is-being-wiped-out-here%27s-the-stats-to-prove-it-520657.html?tickers=^DJI,^GSPC,SPY,MCD,WMT,XRT,DIA The Middle Class in America Is Radically Shrinking. " Bill Clinton was the one who signed NAFTA, against the firm advice of Ross Perot. He's the one to blame for all of this. And I notice Obama is doing nothing to stop any of this. Voting Question: My bf wants me to work abroad to finance the business we are planning to put up,would it be worth the risk?

Here's the deal, since I have the opportunity to work abroad because I have my sister to help me,my bf wants me to pursue.Though I'm not interested in working out of the country,I'm willing to do it for our future.Since we are not yet financially stable and our salary won't be enough if we are planning to have our own family, working abroad would be a great help to to start on our savings.Plus,we are planning to put up a business that may earn enough so I would not be needing to go back abroad. I know it's wonderful to plan for the future and I really appreciate the idea. But then,I'm scared that if I'm already out there,He might find someone new.I do trust him but things might change as time goes by.And what if,he would spend the money for gambling? He's really into gambling and that's one thing I can not stand. But we've talked about this a couple of times and he agreed to stop gambling. Now,I'm seeing some changes but at the back of my mind, what if he's doing it because that's what he wants me to see.How can I be sure he has totally changed? I'm thinking of sending him money from time to time to put on our savings until we have enough for the business so I can finally go back.I don't want him to think that I don't trust him,so what should I do?It's really hard on my part to take risks of everything.I really hope that we would be together in the end.I'm willing to do everything for him! more

Resolved Question: Is it better to have two majors or a major/minor combo?

My original plan was to major in Business and minor in Photography but would it be better to double major in Photography and Business, or major in Photography and minor in Business? I am not really looking to get in depth in a career like Finance, but I would like to own a photography studio one day and business is practical and marketable. I can see how a Business major would be most valuable, whereas if I go into a Photography field it will be more about my portfolio and less about how many classes I took. (Anthropology and global studies also interest me but those seem less practical straight out of college ... I'm still considering those as possible minors.) more

If you could give me some links to helpful websites that would be nice... Voting Question: What do you think Lawmakers told border crime getting out of hand?

Along the newly fenced Mexican border, dangerous and heavily armed groups are increasingly smuggling people as well as dope — and U.S. border investigators must dedicate more time to dismantle their organizations, according to a Government Accounting Office report released to Congress Thursday. Though Congress has increased the Border Patrol to an all-time high of 20,000 officers, a small cadre of specialized federal investigators assigned to Immigration & Customs Enforcement devotes 16 percent of its time to probing the netherworld of border smuggling. And some border specialists have gotten stuck shuffling detainees instead of pursuing criminal leads, according to the GAO report presented Thursday to the U.S. House's border subcommittee. Zetas branch out The U.S-Mexican human smuggling business generates billions, but ICE agents have never managed to seize more than $17 million a year in smugglers' assets, Richard M. Stana, director of the GAO's Homeland Security and Justice Issues office, told the committee. He called those results "tepid." A decade ago, 90 percent of Mexicans and other would-be illegal migrants crossed into the U.S. without using so-called coyotes, Stana said. But with a new wall and twice as many border agents, they increasingly use professional smugglers. That has meant higher prices charged by the smugglers, which attracted organized crime gangs to a business once dominated by less-violent operations rooted in migrant communities. On the Texas border, the Zetas, the vicious former enforcers of the Gulf Cartel narcotics smuggling organization, have branched into the human smuggling trade. "As we've done more to secure our borders, alien smuggling organizations have increasingly become more bold, violent and dangerous," subcommittee chairman Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, said Thursday. "Particularly troubling is the potential for these organizations to smuggle terrorists into our country." Signs of sophisticated, highly armed and well-financed smuggling operations and related kidnapping and extortion rings have emerged in all U.S.-Mexico border towns, as well as large cities like Houston and Phoenix. In Arizona, a pre-dawn battle between human smugglers and gangsters killed 21 people on July 1 in the Sonoran desert south of Nogales. In Houston, agents rescued 11 immigrants held at gunpoint in a house by one violent group of coyotes in 2009 and later dismantled a network of 14 illicit transportation companies used by smuggling rings. Inspiration from Arizona The GAO report suggests the U.S. government look to Arizona for inspiration on how to disrupt smugglers' financial networks. At the hearing, Arizona Attorney General Terry Goddard described how he's worked to cut off money to criminal groups, successfully targeting used car lots, money transfer agencies, travel agents, drop houses and other businesses linked to smuggling and money laundering. In an interview, Tre Rebstock, an ICE agent who is president of the local officers' union in Houston, said agents would "love to see more resources" for smuggling operations across the Southwest. "Anyone in investigative work will tell you 'Follow the money' anytime you want to know what's going on," he said. "I would love to see them track these people by their money. No one likes to be separated from their money." http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/7120928.html more

Resolved Question: should I fire my sons babysitter?

The babysitter of my 9 month old son has me puzzled. Initially I chose her 7 months ago to watch my son because her at-home licensed day care seemed so much more warm and friendly than the majority of the others I visited. There have been several red flags and only recently I am wondering if she has a true narcissist personality. In regards to the warm atmosphere I described, it is pure hype. She mentioned she had an interview with a mother and told the children to hug on her and tell her that they love her. This hit me hard, because this was one of the selling points. I felt lied to and manipulated in a way. She is always right and gets snippy if you try to bring up your own point of view, she constantly gossips about other parents-even though I tell her I don’t know them and it is none of my business. She brings the other children into adult conversations….ie “Hannah, didn’t Matthew come in upset this morning?” She has a couple dogs, which initially I had no problem with because they were docile, but a new one was purchased…a small yelpy little thing that constantly licks in my sons mouth. She wants to talk about her personal issues, brags or whines about any issue presented. If you say anything, she immediately HAS to top you-good or bad. I feel like I am losing my mind, she consumes too much of my mind while I am attempting to get a grasp on figuring her out. I now am almost fearful of her to fire her. She plays the martuer big time and I know that she will say how I am ruining her finances and how awful of a person I am to do this to her. Somehow this person has me scared to speak my mind, stand up for myself, and even has me walking on eggshells fore thinking …”if I say this…how will she take it”. I almost feel like I am the only one feeling this way, I have not seen any signs from other parents of their dissatisfaction. Please don’t tell me I am a horrible mother to leave my son there. I have personal issues with her adult to adult, but I drop in at random times and he is always well taken care of always happy. I have no issues with her care of him at this point. However, I do not want him to learn manipulative behavior and mirror her manners. I am worried to move him because he does have a bond with her and is always happy to see her. Should I be the adult and "suck it up" and just deal with it....or take these all as signs I need to find somewhere else. Advice? more

Resolved Question: To the actuaries out there?

If I want to be an actuary, what should be my plan of action. I attend the school of engineering and applied science at Columbia University and am restricted to engineering majors along with applied math and applied physics. However, if I major in applied math, I can focus in finance. I can also minor in economics. Does this sound like a good idea. Does this make me a viable contender against pure math majors or economics majors or business majors or actuary majors. Also, how many exams should I take before I graduate from college. Should apply for an internship before i graduate. I go to school in New York. What are the different types of actuaries. Why do keep hearing so many different salary ranges for actuaries. How do you make the big bucks? Should I go for the actuary career field with an applied math degree. I want to get paid well and work with money I'm pretty sure. How can I do that? I want details. Resolved Question: How frustrating is this!?!?!?!?!?

My house was auctioned this past Monday. We were the idiots who bought at the wrong time, self employed, had a baby, thought we needed something bigger, got panicky because of the market, business went south yadda yadda yadda so what ever. I've been trying to save it for 2 1/2 years. But to no avail, it went bye bye. So I get this post on the door, I think it's an eviction notice, the realtor handling the property for the lender Freddie Mac who bought the house back at the auction, now tells me Big Mac wants to sell it back to me; reinstate the loan, which the realtor said is next to impossible to accomplish. Thank you. I think I'll go pack now. They ixneyed my loan with Wells Fargo, bought the house back for a fraction of what I owe which was 64% above market value currently and 100% financed on top of it, and I'm sure the deal will be they still want me to agree to make payments on the full amount after I have given them my blood sweat and tears and they are coming out on top - no ones bailing anyone out. It's sink or learn how to swim. Sorry this wasn't supposed to be a blog. Just saying, if anyone has any advise or can relate it would be good to gather info or support - no unkindness, not right now please. Even if I could prove to make payments and am financially stable right now, if you had someplace else to go, that isn't 64% upside down in value, would you try to save it or move on? (I have another home that is a rental but the tenants are moving out in 2 weeks and I either find new tenants on a month to month or move back there, house is slighty depreciated as well but not to this extent - not quite as nice but in the same neighborhood.)I'm sorry, let me clarify I had the baby before we moved, hence the decision for a larger home, we had 4 children+ the new baby living with us and a home office. And no I'm not irresposible trying to have a crap load of kids, 2 of them are from my husbands previous marraige. The last one was a happy oops.I said I have been going through this for 2 years - vacate? Are you insane??? Abandon the property? I don't know what frickin planet you are on person but here in AZ we don't leave unless someone gives us an evistion notice because if you can prove you still live in your house after the sale of your home they will flippin pay you to move out. They did not threaten to kick me out, gave me an opportunity to save my house (again) and this who process can take another 3 months where I potentially wouldn't have to make a mortgage payment for at least 1 and 1/2.AND on top of it the mortgage company was trying to extend the forclosure date and kept telling me not to get discouraged. For a top contributer maybe you should go back to a subject you know about. You sound like a bigger idiot than me. Maybe I don't want to uproot my family, maybe I'm scared, you don't know what's going on in my life so why don't you stick a pipe in and smoke it! more

Voting Question: how can i get emancipated from my mother?

im not the teen that complains about their parents restrictions. My problem is: i live with my godfather(my mothers ex husband). When it comes time to get things done for myself i have to call my mom and wait for her . She isn't fully capable of handling her own business in a timely fashion as it has been this way my entire life.Through that i have grown to learn the right way of conducting business by her mistakes. My problem is that she sent me to practically live on my own , but only with her distant control . She has raised me to be independent but because i am 16 she would rather me wait on her hand until i am eighteen . This is where the problem lies . I have business to conduct such as my dental, medical, education etc but i cannot continue waiting on her . Its like letting barney handle your finances thats how this relationship is working . I need to be emancipated as soon as possible so that i may work according to plan . But of course my mother doesn't agree. What do i need to do to be emancipated without her consent ? more

Resolved Question: What Master's school and program should I choose after getting BBA Economics and Finance with a minor in Math?

I need to plan for my master's school and program to choose, and hope to get some suggestions from you folks. (1) I have Bachelor's Degrees in Economics and Finance from a public university (no good ranking). (2) My current GPA is 3.8 (3) I like math but only took a few: Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Derivative, and Probability. (4) I don't have experience in professional business working environment. My speaking English is limited but I am able to understand perfectly. (5) Hope the master school is affordable with a decent ranking. Hope the city where the school located is not difficult to find a job. I am so confused with MBA, Applied Math, Finance Math, Statistics, or even Actuary. BTW, how long do I stay in the state so that I am eligible to pay for the tuition at the local resident level? Please help and provide information at your best knowledge! more

Resolved Question: How do I break into the finance industry?

I'd like to land a job as an analyst. I will graduate next spring from the University of Illinois with a major in Econ and a minor in business. I know that joining business oriented organizations are key but I feel that I do not have as much business/finance oriented material to put on my resume as a lot of my friends do. I am extremely interested in macroeconomics and financial markets and follow financial news religiously (read wall street journal everyday). Also another downside is that, unlike some of my friends who have majored in accounting and/or finance, I was not able to land an internship this summer. Although I have never been without a job throughout my entire college career, the jobs I did have had nothing to do with finance (i was an office assistant and a lab assistant/researcher back when i was a bio major). One good thing I have going for my resume is that I will be one of the head coordinators for a small finance/investment club that we have in my fraternity. That will at least give me something to talk about during an interview (if I can land one first). Also, I will most likely graduate with around a 3.3 gpa and will be willing to relocate to any major city in the US. Thanks in advance for any help and advice! more

Resolved Question: question about public finance .?

the current market interest rate is at 8%, at which business borrow $500 billion per year for investment and consumer borrow $100 billion per year to cover its budget deficit. Derive the market demand for loanable funds, and show how investor an consumers will be affected if the budget deficit increase to $200 billions per year . show the impact on the market interest rate , assuming that taxpayers do not anticipate any future tax increase. How would your conclusion differ if taxpayer fully anticipate future tax increase ? explain more

Resolved Question: Would you consider THIS neo-communism?

Actually i just want your feedback as to who's school of thought this is. And I knew that wording would hook you.. Anyway what is this: NO INCOME TAXES on earned income. Government would be financed by passive or residual income alone. The market is why we have a government.! The market needs a common currency and forum for rule making. So let the market pay for it! Consumers would still pay sales/property tax and the market would correct itself. Just fyi, earned income is any money exchanged directly for time / labor. So corporations, investments, the profits off ownership would all continue to be taxed. Businesses would feel some relief though by being able to pay their people less without affecting the take home pay. It is ridiculous that we are getting taxed on our labor. The govt exists for the market. The govt is part of the market. Take the money needed out of the system itself and keep both the system and government self reliant. But support the labor above all else. So top earners would be financing the system. So long as labor thrives the system thrives. The reason that smacks of communism is because it's so empowering to the labor class. It diminishes the financial gap. so yea how would you describe that idea? more
