The Manitowoc Co. Inc. reported higher profits for the second quarter, in part because of strong international demand for its construction cranes.
Manitowoc Co. (NYSE: MTW) reported net income Monday of $133.9 million, or $1.01 per share, for the second quarter, up 37 percent compared with $97.5 million, or 76 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.

"It will have to be achieved through the permit arrangement, they'll have to be given free permits," she told ABC Television.
Exporters would have to compete with other nations which were not subject to emissions trading, she said.
And forcing Australian companies to pay to pollute could simply drive jobs overseas - an "exercise in total futility" from a greenhouse perspective, Ms Ridout said. more
