There have been so many people misusing the term Entrepreneurship without knowing the true meaning to it. An Entrepreneur is commonly seen as a business leader and innovator of new ideas and business processes. If you're not doing anything different, please don't call yourself an Entrepreneur. It's really an insult to the 'beautiful' word.

I happen to see these Entrepreneur-Wannabes almost every other day. Most of the time these folks are plying trades that have been around for the last few decades or centuries. Let's call them the old-knobs. Most likely you see them in the shape of Auditing Firms, Management Consultants, Accounting Firms, Recruitment Firms, Web Design Firms, The-Self-Proclaimed-One-Stop-Shop That's Hardly Good at Anything...etc and the list goes on. more

Politics aside, Mahoney said the Commerce Department's mission primarily is to bring manufacturing jobs to the state, while the council, which will include Commerce, will promote a "knowledge-based" economy through research, much as North Carolina did after creating The Research Triangle Park in 1959.

South Carolina may be decades behind that effort, but through coordination, "we'll catch up," perhaps within a decade, Mahoney said.

An affiliate of his Research Authority has helped launch 98 companies from research projects since April 2006, 16 of which have secured $50 million in venture capital. Though the companies' job tally is small, at 350, workers' average salary is $77,000. Those companies will hopefully grow and continually spawn more companies, Mahoney said. more

Assembly lifeline for collapsed bakery firm

THE Welsh Assembly has offered financial backing to help a new company buy the assets of the former Best Bakeries at Hirwaun.

Bakery shops across South Wales, which depended on the Cynon Valley bakery for supplies, were forced to close their doors after the firm went into administration last month.

Deputy First Minister Ieuan Wyn Jones said: "Assembly Government officials have worked hard to put together a package of support, including grant aid and a loan from Finance Wales, in time to make the offer of support needed to enable this deal to go ahead.

"A decision on funding had to be turned around within days to make a rescue feasible and I am delighted that we have been able to achieve this," he said.

"The operation has long been an important employer in the Cynon Valley and I hope this new start will give it a sound and sustainable future. more

None of his six stores do, and he can't imagine the 75 stores he supplies in Kansas and Nebraska need to do much either — not with the loyalty of the regulars in play.

“There are definitely regulars. We have this lady who gets black cherry, like six big Jayhawks (the second-largest size) of them and puts them in her freezer every time and saves them," Dankenbring says. “And there's just certain people that just walk up ... and most of them are slightly surprised that you remember their order. But when you see them every day you just kind of pick up on what they usually get."

Dankenbring says that the folks behind the counter do try and get customers out of their ruts, since the majority flocking to the store's top three flavors: Summer Breeze, Tiger's Blood and Turtle Power. more
