Lawson Adds Business Process Automation to Management System
Lawson Software has added a business process automation tool to its M3 Enterprise Management System.
Lawson said ProcessFlow Integrator will enable organizations to create business processes and establish how people share information among their Lawson enterprise applications, non-Lawson applications, and directly with partners, clients, and customers. Small business session set for Wednesday
A public forum about small business loan programs is planned Wednesday at the Sgt. Willie Estrada Memorial Civic Center.
The Area Wide Forum on Access to Capital is sponsored by the Otero County Economic Development Council and the Small Business Development Center at New Mexico State University-Alamogordo.
The event, set at the center at 800 E. First St., is to include information provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration, USDA Rural Development and development and finance companies that specialize in small businesses.

When David Pangelinan isn't logging 14-hour days driving a fuel tanker, he's at his computer indulging his latest hobby: building a succession of online stores in minutes.
Pangelinan has built four online stores offering hundreds of products for sale, from Bulova watches to Betty Boop pillows, using the Web site Zlio.com.
"It was real easy," said Pangelinan, 43, who lives in Columbus, Georgia.
Pangelinan said he's still learning the finer points of e-commerce, and spends time browsing through thousands of products on Zlio.com's catalogue that he could sell.
"I just went in there and started jotting down the products that were interesting and caught my eye," said Pangelinan, who spends six to 10 hours a week tending to his shops. more

Individual: Consulting Project a) You are an IT project manager. Your team has been hired as IT consultants for a small non-profit counseling center for at-risk youth. The Executive Director has shared with you that the center received a gift of $500,000 from a great-uncle of one of the center's former clients with the condition it be used to upgrade the technology used at the center. The center is open Monday through Saturday, noon-11 p.m. The center has three full-time employees: the Executive Director and two counselors. There are eight part-time counselors who are on-call and four part-time administrative assistants who cover all shifts. There are no computers. All patient, employee, and financial records are kept manually and filed in cabinets in the business office. The center has one fax machine, two typewriters, and a multi-line phone system with a phone in each room. The building has six rooms, a reception office area, and a waiting room. The rooms are used for the Executive Director's office, three counseling rooms, a business office, and a conference room. b) Submit a 2,000-2,500 word detailed essay and a summary PowerPoint presentation that reflects your technology recommendations, your justification for the changes, and a budget. Your recommendations may include the following: i) PC and peripherals such as desktop PCs, servers, printers, scanners, or laptops ii) Software tools such as a word processing programs, financial programs, and scheduling tools iii) Telecommunications: cell phones, pagers, wireless tools such as blackberries or PDAs iv) Other tools you feel will aid in the efficiency and effectiveness of the counseling center c) It is not necessary to provide brand names of hardware/software/peripherals in this preliminary plan; use rough estimates for the budget items, but stay within the $500K limit.
