Reasons to be cheerful 1, 2, 3
The amiable entrepreneur has some interesting stories about his business, the computer firm he set up at 15 years of age, and other opportunities for fame and fortune.
One such opportunity was when Daniell made the shortlist of the final 40 or so candidates for the first series of BBC TV programme The Apprentice.
He says the decisions made during the final elimination day were based purely on the opinion of TV executives – and perhaps unsurprisingly, Daniell says the "noisy and obnoxious candidates" were selected.
But what of Sir Alan Sugar? He says the business tycoon was not involved in the initial selection process.
And would he have been keen on being Sugar’s apprentice? "I didn’t even know who he was," says Daniell – although the Fluidata chief admits that his mother once owned an Amstrad PC. more

Resolved Question: Why do supporters of illegals believe illegals should not be arrested in raids when found breaking the law?
police swooped down on two Maryland restaurants, taking into custody dozens of employees. Suzanne Collins reports their documentation is being checked to see if they are in this country legally. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided the Timbuktu Restaurant near BWI Airport around 10 a.m. Thursday. Records were removed from the offices, and employees were arrested. Anne Arundel County police helped. "In this case, a number of warrants were issued to the owner of the restaurant, who may have hired illegal immigrants, also the harboring of illegal immigrants in houses nearby," said John Leopold, Anne Arundel County Executive. Police activity also occurred at two homes right next to Timbuktu, but ICE wouldn't confirm what was going on there. WJZ also learned a restaurant in Middle River, By The Docks, was also the location of a search and seizure Thursday. Twenty-nine people of different nationalities were taken into custody and driven in vans to Baltimore ICE offices. CASA de Maryland, an advocacy group for Latino immigrants, says these raids are wrong. It's their belief this should be solved with national immigration reform. "I think by arresting people, they will terrorize the community, and the community would be even scared to answer a census form," said Tarsila Talarico, CASA de Maryland. ICE says it's committed to stopping illegal employment schemes utilizing illegal labor, and that businesses that do that have an unfair advantage. "There are many small businesses in this county, state, nation that play by the rules, follow labor laws. They pay taxes, and they're seriously undercut by those employers who hire illegal immigrants," said Leopold. ICE says it did not take the restaurant owners into custody, but the investigation is continuing. http://wjz.com/local/immigration.customs.enforcement.2.1554621.html Are they saying by arresting lawbreakers this will terrorize the community,is this the same as saying nobody should be arrested for any crimes , if it will terrorize the community per CASA de Maryland that even dangerous illegals should not be arrested if it will terrorize the community and dangerous illegals are free to committ and do any crime they want under the guise of if it will terrorize the community the police must not arrest the dangerous illegals but allow them to go free ? moreResolved Question: i need help with my world history???!!?

Must you learn lessons your elders have known for decades that govt & corporate business have hijacked this nation for far to long! That we the people must gain legal rule & control on a direct daily basis with full legislative power in our hands over money/business/govt. It's called a True direct Democracy! You are currently under a Communist Republic of/by/for the wealthy few who fake & phony your life away! Phony once in a blue moon elections with secret voting! How would you like your bank account records keep secret from you? Community efforts such Barn raising's public square meeting/town hall meeting & small business built this country! Corporations should be owned by all of us IF they must exist etc. moreResolved Question: Are gays overly conservative in anyone else's experience?
I got this question removed the last time I posted it but we'll see if there's less of a kneejerk offended reaction this time. I know that most people would assume gays would be progressive/liberal, and that seems to be the assumption I've seen on here, especially from younger people, but every gay man I have ever met has been conservative. This is not a single digit number, and I'm extremely politically active (on the liberal side of things, so it's not like I'm meeting these people at Republican conventions) so I talk to a LOT of people about politics. I'm almost gunshy about it now. I'm fully aware this could be a statistical anomaly, and that the Republicans certainly can't be said to be serving the interests of gays as gays (gays as businessman, say, or conservative Christians, is another matter), but even following gender issues online, gays seem to be disproportionately monist (that is, believing there are only two sexual orientations; that anyone outside these orientations is a traitor or in denial or immature; that members of the LGBT community must conform to rules and roles). Much of gay "culture" is rooted in the assumption that members share or must share common political and social ground regardless of individual identity, and fit polar roles within the community--top or bottom, butch or femme, masculine or feminine, etc. So does anyone else have any comments, thoughts, or observations on this? I don't mind if you disagree with me, but simply saying that "LGBT people are so liberal and progressive omg" doesn't really bring anything to the table. None of the conservative gay people I have asked about this have been able to engage me on anything other than a pro-business, classist, or rural conservative approach.Kingdomhearts: Are they, like, college age though? Or younger? That group skews liberal anyway. moreResolved Question: If the illegal aliens weren't breaking the law by being here in the first place, would there be a need for CIR?
If the illegal aliens weren't breaking the law by being here in the first place, would there be a need for comprehensive immigration reform? †††††††† Our Time to Fight for Immigration Reform is Now Democrats have become the party of "I can't," while Republicans have become the party of "I won't." But the overwhelming majority of Americans (conservatives, independents and everyone else) is saying, "Get to work on our nation's problems and fix the broken immigration system!" While the pundits, naysayers, and quitters in Washington are telling everyone that nothing can get done, the Campaign Reform Immigration FOR America is enlisting the American people in a massive effort to force the hand of the House, Senate, and President to finally fix our broken immigration system. You can feel the rumbling in the pews, at the town halls, and at overflow auditoriums across the country. In January the campaign organized more than 150 events across 40 states, that could barely accommodate the overflow crowds of Americans who wanted to voice their support for immigration reform. * In Denver, CO an overflow crowd of thousands cheered Senator Michael Bennett's pledge to champion comprehensive immigration reform in the U.S. Senate. * In Grand Rapids, MIhundreds gathered with community faith leaders to call on their elected leaders to get a comprehensive immigration bill done this year. * In Charlotte, NC overflow crowds gathered at a meeting of African American and Latino community leaders to show overwhelming support for reform. * 1,000 gathered on a cold night in Little Rock , AR to urge Senators Lincoln (D-AR) and Pryor (D-AR) to support immigration reform. * And in Ohio, a series of events all over the state culminated in a rally of thousands in Cincinnati - that included leadership from the African American, labor and business communities . * All this followed not long after more than 60,000 Americans mobilized for a single telephone call in October of 2009 with supportive leaders of reform in the U.S. Congress. In the last month, communities of faith have exhibited a courage and clarity that we wish our elected leaders would show. Religious leaders from across the theological and ideological spectrum and Members of Congress kicked off a nationwide mobilization called "Together, Not Torn: Families Can't Wait for Immigration Reform," that included the delivery of more than hundreds of thousands postcards to Members of Congress from people of faith in their states and districts. Over the course of the President's Day recess, local leaders from churches, small businesses, labor locals, and community organizations across the country descended on district offices. Americans in Ohio, Alaska, Arkansas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and other states met with their Members of Congress to ask for comprehensive immigration reform to move forward in 2010. Some district offices, in fact, received a visit every hour, on the hour, for four days straight! This is beyond a campaign. This is America at its very core saying loud and clear we need a functioning immigration system that stops unscrupulous employers from exploiting American and immigrant workers, but encourages honest employers looking to play by the rules. Since June 1, 2009, the campaign has organized over 700,000 calls and faxes into the White House and Congress calling for reform. This is a significant a number of Americans but the decibel is nothing compared to that of an entire news channels (and multiple talk radio shows) that are primed and ready to scare Congress from endorsing an immigration solution that serves our nation. So, while our campaign is made up of over 750 faith, labor, business, progressive, African American, civil rights and immigrant organizations working to reform our immigration system in the interests of America's families, we need your help. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ali-noorani/our-time-to-fight-for-imm_b_476801.html moreResolved Question: Is money I paid to contract labor considered my income first?
Example: I have a home-office business for which I am sole proprietor. My business is a music studio where I teach piano, and I have someone else teaching guitar as an independent contractor. The total money I received from both piano and guitar students is $3,000. $2,000 comes from my piano students, and $1,000 comes from the guitar students of which I keep $250 and I give the guitar teacher $750. I sent him a 1099. What is my total income that I put into Schedule C, $2,250 or $3,000? I put the $750 under contract labor on Schedule C right? Anything I should be aware of in this situation? btw - I meticulously made sure we were following the rules for independent contractor as opposed to hiring him as an employee. Thanks you, I love my Yahoo Answers community. moreVoting Question: The REAL reason Google is leaving China?
Two Gmail accounts get hacked and Google threatens to pull out of China if they don't allow uncensored searching. Yeah, ok Google.... 1. Why would Google give a toss if two e-mails got hacked with an organization that has nothing to do with the company itself? That's like me being the owner of Wal-Mart and closing down some stores after a huge shootout, it makes NO sense. 2. What the hell did they expect when they started doing business in China? HELLO! This is not the country of Switzerland we are dealing with, it is China. Of course there's going to be laws against censorship along with suspicious cyber attacks and funny government rules. China does not have the same laws that the U.S. does. Here in the U.S., we can bash Bush all day and not get arrested for it. 3. Google talks about this "20 or so U.S. companies got attacked in the process." It seems to me like this statement is an excuse to add icing to the cake. Companies in the states get attacked almost every day from random hackers/virus/malware. All you have to do is go out and buy anti-virus software if you're so concerned about this. I think this is just an excuse that Google pulled out of their hats in order to leave China. My girlfriend's debit card just got hacked about 3 weeks ago by someone in another country with charges of over $300. 4. The REAL reason Google is pulling out is not because of this, but because of poor business in China. I don't necessarily believe that Baidu is the cause. If you're fighting against another team in baseball, why quit when the score is 3 to nothing? Google is not making good money in China, so they use excuses of cyber attacks to leave the country by trying to force them into filtering their search results. 5. Google is stereotyping China using this technique, and they did a good job too. Hey, everyone knows that China is full of hackers, lets use that to make a good reason to pull out. 6. America is known to lie and deceive people in the media/community and it has been a trick used ever sine this country got invaded. Google doesn't want to make themselves look bad, so they use some pennyass lie about 20-30 companies being attacked by China. Everyone in the world knows that America does this, hell, I am a born citizen of this country and know for a fact that we do this. This has been our tactic for years on building this country. Wake up people. A multi-billion dollar company is not going to pull out of a country because someones e-mail account got hacked, that's just stupid. And I bet everyone a month's paycheck that Google would not give a toss about this attack if they were making lots of money in China. PS: Google says that the hackers stole a source code. The e-mails belonged to Chinese human rights activists, not Google staff. They refuse to release any more information about the source code being stolen, so I doubt this statement is true. I am thinking this may also be a lie. moreVoting Question: Mass Media Test Need major help!!! Please help not trying to cheat but its really hard!?

A lot of Tea Partiers and conservatives state that the government should manage itself like a family. You spend what you earn. Oh, how CLUELESS they are about economics. A household's budget functions and should function COMPLETELY differently from that of a nation-state. Households, businesses, and corporations function in "Microeconomics." According to Wikipedia, Microeconomics is "a branch of economics that studies how households and firms make decisions to allocate limited resources." The household does not have to spawn its own businesses, but simply has to manage its flow of income and expenses. By contrast, a government functions in the realm of Macroeconomics. The definition of that in Wikipedia is "a branch of economics that deals with the performance, structure, and behavior of the economy of the entire community, either a nation, a region, or the entire world." In other words, the managing of encouraging the success of various microeconomic entities contained within the macroeconomic realm. The two function on completely different rule sets. A government should NOT be run like a household. And for that, even households occasionally have to go into debt. And for that matter, both also rely on heavy regulation. You don't let your teenage son sell drugs on the street. and According to the widely accepted Keynesian school of thought on macroeconomics, the financial institutions like Wall Street must be regulated and controlled in a similar manner. This was not a paper for school. The Dow reached its all time high of 14,000 in 2007, on Bush's watch. It was no bubble, the Dow was above 10,000 the majority of Bush's time in office up to that point. But after the GOP lost its majority in Congress in 2007, the Dow took its worst one-year plunge in history. Bush's economic policies worked for six years. But after the GOP lost control of Congress, it was all downhill from there. After the GOP lost control of Congress, then the GOP was not able to pass legislation that could have prevented the crash. The Democrats did nothing. The GOP might have done something, but they couldn't because they didn't have a majority anymore. Bush's watchlist system worked for 8 years and 3 days. Even if you start counting with the shoe bomber on 12/22/2001, it kept us safe from airliner bombings until 12/25/2009. If the system worked that long, why did it fail less than one year after Obama took office? The problem is not the system, it's the people who are now runing it. They took a system that was working, and in less than a year it fell apart. And unemployment was NEVER 10% on Bush's watch. The so-called "mess" that Bush gets blamed for actually happened AFTER the Democrats gained seats in Congress and the GOP lost its majority. I think that points to who is REALLY to blame, and why these problems persist after the Democrats have gained even more control. Arthur Levitt, Jr. was the longest serving head of the SEC. Levitt gave Madoff a free pass because they were both members of the Harmonie Club, a social club for the ultra wealthy in NYC. Madoff was first reported to the SEC in 1992: http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/sep/02/bernard-madoff-sec-report Report: Regulator was tipped off about Madoff fraud as early as 1992 "a suspicion of trouble at Madoff Investment Securities arose as early as 1992 when customers of Avellino & Bienes, a fund that invested all its money with Madoff, complained about documents making a seemingly impossible promise of "100%" safe investments. Although the SEC shut down Avellino & Bienes, the agency only made a "brief and very limited" examination of Madoff." Avellino & Bienes was shut down by the SEC in 1993, the year Levitt took charge. Levitt also gave a special exemption to Enron, exempting it from accounting rules. This special exemption led directly to the Enron scam and the subsequent meltdown of the company, which took down a major chunk of the economy with it. It also led to the discovery of similar fraud at many other companies, fraud that got its start in the Clinton years. If I was going to pick one individual who was most responsible for the rampant fraud of the Clinton years, it would have to be Art Levitt. “Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq. ”The international community had little doubt then, and I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again. were permanent; what would you change? Here are a few of mine: Do away with income tax and set up a flat sales tax (we will actually get more money because people who don't pay income tax will still have to buy things) Set up time limits on welfare and other government programs for those who are capable of working (no longer than 2 years, most people can fnd a job within that time). Even if on assistance make it manadatory to do so many hours of community service that way we are not just paying these people to sit around and watch tv. Keep Social Security but make it independent from the general fund and only give it to people who paid into it. (no more free rides to aliens, legal or otherwise, who come over at the age to draw it) Change the justice system to where the punishment fits the crime and make prisons a miserable place to be instead of club mead-no cable tv, no weight room, make all criminals work from sun up to sun down (we have to work why shouldn't they) Strictly enforce border laws and deport all who didn't come here legally. Do away with political correctness. All people should be able to speak their minds without the fear of someone yelling racism every 5 seconds when none exist. Political correctness was invented so one section of the population could guilt/harrass another section into silence and compliance. Give the states back their power and shrink the federal government to where they only ran international relations, the military and handled national disasters. Repeal laws that give international agencies power over our own government. Raise import taxes on finished products and reduce them on raw materials. Give incentives to businesses who remain in the USA and penalize those who move overseas. To the person who disagreed with the import taxes part...it would not hurt us as we are the largest consumer. plus it would make or products more competitive on the world market. moreResolved Question: cnn we please plea donation country as japan, german, bothfrench, english canada by help haiticrisis moneydonate?

It is much better to have a secure source of income to renovate the Kovil than to depend on election year promises to do your restoration work. An enterprise to associate with your project and create a steady income base as well as employment opportunities for people in your community is the apolitical solution that allows you to make decisions for your community goals without depending on intercession from government. They create such a mess. Of course we all want clean air and water. Most of us also want some sort of environmental conservation. However, environmentalists are such obstructonists. They are the reason why we will probably never drill because they file lawsuit upon lawsuit until the oil companies give up. They do the same with nuclear power and small communities that try to attract business. They don't seem to care that the livelihoods of the people in these communities are dependent on new business. If any new project or business is going to "obstruct" the landscape, or mess with a nest they will always find some way to stop it. My husband has to deal with the DEP in his line of work. New rules come on a near weekly basis. Now, my husband is very conscience of the environment and he would never do anything if he thought it would cause harm. Well, on one of his jobs they were setting well points, and when setting well points, a large amount of water is used and then released back into the "environment". So, the DEP rep asked my husband what his source of water was going to be. He said he was using potable water (brought in on a truck), water we drink, bathe, wash our cloths and cook with. The DEP rep told him he could not use potable water because it *may* contain high levels of metal, which are not safe enough to be released, released on the side of the road and in the middle of nowhere. So, my husband had to stop the job, which of course costs money. He then had to find a truck that would pump water out of a neighboring canal (a feat itself), have the canal water tested, pay to have the truck that was used sanitized, etc.....all of this cost days of shut down, throwing schedules off for many people, thousands of dollars in extra costs, lost revenue and lost wages (taxes) for our hourly guys. Do you think they are more dangerous to our economy than most people realize?Hi Logan, I got a few hours. I did nap today. I think I need to talk to someone. This is very new to me and, to be honest, I am a bit anxious about going to sleep tonight. Crazy thoughts are entering my mind. I know what you are saying. Of course they are trying to protect the environment, but they do take it a little too far sometimes. My parents also live on a waterway up north and they too have had to deal with an environmental agency....The APA. It was for the same reason as you. They wanted to build up their shoreline, but they had to do it very carefully and with certain types of materials. Thanks for your concern, honey. You are just so darn sweet!! moreVoting Question: Yahoo Answers have no right to free speech!?
This is the most abolished rule of all in a place where it is intended the most. Yahoo community does not give you that right and yet it practices its business in the United States. Just because it is privately owned, this company is crooked considering it deals the business in an unfair way to our rights. What can be done in order for Yahoo Answers could assume the regulations that would be consistent with the American law? Why is it that so many users are unaware of this and yet they get booted and kicked around by Yahoo Answers Community for allegedly violating company's rights, when indeed they actual rights have not been violated? Is this the glitch within another because it needs resolution and review by internet committee/government that allows certain rights for the company. How is it that company practicing its business in US does not consider the simplest rights of its users? Yahoo is a giant, why is it not regulated by Law the way it should to preserve our rights?lol Meghan, how many normal human beings were banned for obeying rules perfectly fine? Thanks. moreVoting Question: Why doesnt Israel threaten British Politicans with prosecutions for war crimes?
I mean i was absolutely shocked. Flabbergasted when i heard the UK was considering so called Prosecution cases against Israeli politicans over Israels defensive war in Gaza last winter. But then i realised how mens hearts are easily corrupted by money, oil, lucrative Saudi arms contracts and lavish banquets with belly dancers and the full works. However as i peered into the British historys pages ,nothing began to suprise me about this latest typical back handiness Britishness. The same Britain that turned away boatloads of J-wish refugees fleeing Nazi persecution. Or the same Britain that interned millions of German J-ws in Palestine in concentration camps and armed the Palestinians aligned with the Nazis to the teeth. So if Britain wants to be clever why doesnt Israel withdraw all its businesses in the UK and invest in France? And the next time a UK offical lands take him/her away in handcuffs for the War crimes they may have commited in Northern Irelands Catholic community. Or arrest them for so called collaterol damage in Afghanistan or Iraq? I bet they wouldnt like that? Because it appears Britain has surrendered its will now to the millions of Islamic hordes under new asylum applications called "Political correctness" rules. Also just imagine if Israel has to launch military action against Britain because if Britain doesnt curb all the Hamas and Hisbollah supporters in England do you think the Israeli airforce has the ability to neutralise the British air defence system and defeat the RAF and launch a devastating Blitz on London like they did in Gaza and down town Beirut? Because the IAF is real good just look up the six day war on how they defeated an enemy 40 times their size with minimal losses. Perhaps the French (despite being surrender monkeys) could be Israels new friends and allow refueling rights as they attack Britain? Anyway i wish them all peace, shalom, Salaam etc... and tell me WHAT DO YOU THINK? moreResolved Question: How does one handle community property not listed/handled improperly or personal property you r accused of hvg?
When ex started the divorce unknown to me (because I wasn't ready to come back until we settled some issues) he threatened me that he would take everything away from me, I would be left with nothing. He started the Divorce Court with a "Stolen Items" which a lot was stuff I knew nothing about, also example of two target pillows I bought for 5 each he listed for 400.00, I took my two left the two that were is deceased wife's prior to me. Have to remind him of things. He listed a trunk that was mine (he had deceased wife's children come get her things without my being home & unknown to me while I was out of town, luckily I found out about that so know where her trunk went this is the type of things I am dealing with. Things I had of his I returned. Now he is saying a 1ct diamond was fake when returned. (I want this man out of my life, I wouldn't do anything as such let alone anything to get him going on a further rampage). He also did not return My Armoire (was my son's prior to our marriage, and a 35' TV mine prior to our marriage...says that the Judge did not order so not something he has to do. Court had ordered me to pay him 15,000.00 to cover my part of the debts & property dispersion however, I don't understand that. I had to sell my car which was my part of the property settlement to me. Plus 60,000.00 of our community property was left out from his paperwork he tried concealing everything he could. I had listed everything...appears the Judge did not review my paperwork. There is a 135.00 Moose antler that I sold at a garage sale when I needed money to pay aps almost a year ago and Judge had listed that as property to go to him. When this item was clearly and repeatedly told to me by my ex that he understood it was mine. I had no idea he would fight about it later. A rifle of 600.00 was bought for me for my first hunt he bought a 3200.00 rifle the same time we went to a Cabelas on a trip (keep in mind he has an arsenal. He didn't need a new rifle I had none and my 600.00 was bought for me the Judge gave him all the firearms. I didn't try getting his or list all the other 6 -8,000.00 handguns, rifles or knives he had bought. But on the "Stolen List" back in January 2008 I had gone over this all with my Attorney (only stayed with me for a short time), listing what was bogus and so forth. But ex is standing by his stolen listing which is crazy. I want to do a request to the Court to disperse the 60,000.00 community property that was not taken into consideration. (He did not disclose). This is ridiculous, all control and he can't stand it. I also find it annoying that the same Judge dealing with us for two years is also seeing him with his new significant other and her ex. Isn't this a conflict of interest? I want you to know I didn't want anything from him, he had houses, properties, business, numerous bank accounts, numerous vehicles, he has the means. I do not I have nothing but my disability check and overseeing myself, two daughters and a two year old granddaughter. This fighting back and forth is so depressing, draining and so unnecessary. He knows what this is doing to me. I have been so overly pleasant to him and his new significant other even in Court stating that I am happy they have each other. But they seem to have nothing else to do but aggravate me and her ex. In Court all the time on their initiating it. I am so tired of all of this...I hate all of this paperwork, I find it hard to deal with and it is exhausting when I don't know what rules, wordage, or paperwork to use. I am not a lawyer or a paralegal. Oh, we are divorced since August, we did after the filing of the divorce go to counseling and held off on getting the divorce for a while, then we finally decided we both wanted different things. moreResolved Question: Is ASCAP over stepping their boundaries?
A good friend of mine has owned an auto repair shop in our small community for a number of years. He also has a small television in the waiting room. He recently received a notice that he is in violation of ASCAP rules and must stop providing music and television for enjoyment immediately. I am former student at **** High School, successful business owner in town, and published author. According to the United States of America Constitution, my first amendment is freedom of speech. I encourage you to read this letter through the end. Within the past 2 years, I have been bothered by the idea of the poor educational system in ****. **** elementary and middle schools seem to operate smoothly, except **** High School. I must say, the High School was the worst four years of my life. Teachers hustling here and there, overcrowded workloads, and how could we leave out the awful administration. I understand that each school system must have an administrative team and enforce rules however; the current conditions at the High School are unbearable for students. Getting more focused within my letter, I will focus my attention on the administrative staff at **** High School. Your office clerk, ****, is absolute nightmare to talk to. Her goody too shoo attitude is a turnoff to all. In fact, when I was in high school, about 2 weeks prior to graduating, she raised her voice to me. Remarks like I should not graduate because I could not read the 2 inch by 2 inch note card on the overcrowded office door are no ways to treat your students. My action taken was to send my parents down to yell back. I should have called a meeting between her and the town officials. I have never been so embarrassed in my life, where so many people and fellow graduating class heard me. I strongly believe that by having Kathy around in the office hurts the whole school system as a whole. Strongly consider he credentials and consider moving someone more professional and more caring into that position. Also her weight is not healthy for the amount of yelling she does. Excessive weight and yelling leads to high blood pressure which leads to heart stress, which leads to heart attacks. As I wish this doesn’t happen to anyone, I strongly consider taking the stress off **** and giving it to someone else who is fit for the job. Nothing tops the time when the principal would forget the pledge of allegiance over the morning intercom… how unprofessional of the school. Nothing yells failure like forgetting your countries own pledge. Your intercom system is a bit soft in some rooms. I suggest making them a bit louder. Bullying among other students was a huge part of daily life in **** High School for me. I was always being picked on. Day in and day out, I had to endure comments that would hurt my reputation and potential future for business. I should have sought legal help for issues involving my reputation as I work very hard to keep my reputation strong. As teachers heard the comments being made, nothing was done about it until I took action in the office. Turning the kids into the office did nothing for them. Suspension? Sure kick them out of school, where were the police. I had my backpack and social security number stolen and passed around the cafeteria??? I have seen several teachers hurt by specific people mentioned in this letter. The apple does not fall to far from the tree. With the administrative department in power, I feel that **** High School will always be a complete failure. It will take a long time to re-build the reputation that has been lost in my eyes from the educational system. Let me suggest some areas to work on to improve your rankings within the community. •You could turn up the loud speaker, so everyone can hear it. Some students in your school are hearing impaired. Don’t you think that you should make your school good to all students and not just the ones who are fine. •You could remove the unnecessary workers from the office. **** especially. No one wants to deal with her on a daily basis. Rude, impolite, and stuck-up spells disaster all over her office desk. •You could stop being so strict on your policies. Some more than others. Parking, no need for overpriced, retarded parking places. These are high school students, not CEO’s making a million dollars a year. Lower the price or do away with the parking permits. •Be more giving on your late policy. Car accidents, sickness, and family issues, etc. are unpredictable. If I recall right, **** just hands out detentions like she’s giving tampons to an audience of young ladies. “One to everyone will cure everything.” I mean, are you serious? Such a bad way to run a school system!!! •If kids have a problem, raise their voices at staff, don’t follow the dress codes, etc, just simply give them a warning. That’s all, if the problem consists, the do something about it. Students may start to complain that they feel like they are in boot camp. I don’t blame them. •Many more issues can be seen throughout the school. Why be so harsh to these kids? Maybe it will give you something to think about. In 2010, I plan on writing my second book published by a well known agency, sellable in Barnes and Noble, Borders, Am moreResolved Question: Is this a violation of Yahoo Answers rules?
I have been going through a difficult time in my personal life. I have been in a difficult marriage for the past six years and going through the process of separation and divorce. I have been embarrassed about starting to date women while I am in this process. Rather than come out and admit that I was starting to date women before I separated, I stated in my questions that I was already divorced. Later when I thought it was not right, I corrected that to include my current status. Later in asking questions about dating, relationships, marriage, several Yahoo answers members started stalking my questions. Instead of answering a question, for example, would it be appropriate to send flowers to a woman that I had only been dating for a couple of weeks, one Y!A members answer said "You are a liar! You said you were divorce already. . ." The person went on to berate me on this page and people removed their answers. My understanding of this Q&A board is that it is a question and answer forum. Insulting other members, passing personal moral judgment on other members, is to me a violation of our community standards. I think it is a violation of Y!A community standards to judge other members using beliefs, morals, and ethics based upon an individual's religion and upbringing and impose that set of personal values as a way to judge another member. Whether it is right or wrong to see other people and have friends while married, separated, living together or not, is a personal decision based upon the personal beliefs of individuals. I do not take the personal information I have about Y!A members and use it against them when answering questions. Has this ever happened to you? Have you posted a question on Yahoo answers about what do you think of a recent event in the news, what websites can I use to search for good restaurants in my area, or some other question similar to that, and have one of your contacts write a paragraph telling the Y!A community your personal business and passing moral judgment against you that is not related to the question you asked? I find that what makes the Y!A community special is that we are a community of diverse age groups, religious beliefs, a global community of different nations, and different personal lifestyles. Again, I stress that we have different lifestyles. When individuals answer questions in such a way that states that according to your personal beliefs, what you are doing is wrong, it is neither a question nor an answer, and is merely insulting to me as well as the other members of the Yahoo answers community. Some people have straight lifestyles, gay lifestyles. Some people are married, and some people live together, and some people choose to be single. Some people date when they are single and unattached, some people date when they are separated but not yet divorced, and some people have open marriages and have friends while they are still married. Social Stigma?
Obesity: Social Prejudices and the Medical Community’s Disregard It’s a meaner world out there folks. Everywhere you turn there are people who choose to be hateful in deed and word for just about any reason you can think of. There is the obvious and not so subtle racism, class prejudice, ageism, and political polarization, just to name a few. That’s not to say that there are not exceptions to every rule but so many people have adopted political correctness to such a degree that humans have found much more subtle ways of showing their hatreds. Some of these behaviors have gone underground only to emerge in our institutions, businesses and social strata. Sure it’s always been there but now it appears that its effects are more noticeable and very, effectively dehumanizing to those on the receiving end of the many prejudices and bigotry being voiced concerning those of us who are not a size 5. Obese, heavy, overweight people are REALLY catching hell. People assume that when they see an overweight or obese person that they must be lazy, unproductive; lacking the will to take better care of them selves. I am sure that a small percentage of people in the USA fit that bill, however, you may be surprised that most of them do not. There are many reasons for obesity. The bottom line though is that people who are obese or become obese have bodies that literally no longer work the way they are supposed to. Here are a few medical and non-medical reasons people become obese: Processed Foods: White-flour-based anything, sugar, coffee, booze and high sodium content (all of which usually make up processed food) is the enemy of the human body. It doesn’t know what to do with it but glean what little nutrients it can, store the majority and dump the rest. Hypothyroidism: Since the thyroid controls the basic workings of the human metabolism, if it is too low, then it cannot convert many food calories into a usable source and that inability will cause weight gain despite healthy eating practices. When the thyroid goes wacko on the low end you WILL get fat. If it goes wacko on the high end, you can lose weight exponentially and have as many medical problems as an obese person. Cushing’s Disease/Syndrome (Cushing’s disease has always been considered a dog or horse problem, hmmm go figure): This disease is “reportedly” prevalent in only 10% of each million people if you want to believe what the CDC, FDA and AMA bother to report. Cushing’s occurs because the body producing too much Cortisol. Cortisol controls regulation of blood pressure and the immune system, and keeps insulin levels in the body stable. In Cushing’s Disease, it is assumed that only a tumor on the pituitary gland is responsible for the production of excess Cortisol. However, a few other doctors disagree and have found that Cushing’s Syndrome can also be caused by food dependency and steroid- based products such as Prednisone; especially if they have been taken for long periods of time. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: is a hormonal disorder in women. Most women would not know to ask their doctors to have them tested for this disease because the medical community considers it rare. I dare say it may be the norm today with the amount of hormones coming through our food products for many years. Oral Contraceptives: Progestins and other steroid based drugs for cancer often throw the thyroid out of balance and injure the Hypothalamus, which usually results in weight gain. Anti-Psychotic and Anti-Depressants: Taken even a short time, depending on the health of the thyroid or hypothalamus, will cause either weight gain or weight loss. The majority is weight gain especially in those taking these drugs for many years. I am doing research now as to how many people taking these drugs have had their thyroid effected, treated ,or removed. Insulin and Insulin-Stimulating Drugs: These drugs are used to treat diabetes almost always leads to weight gain. I am a Chinese student who is applying to transfer from community college to UC now. I wrote a personal statement for my application. Could anyone help me revise my grammars and sentence patterns? Even a paragraph or a sentence, I would appreciate it. My interest in economics and business has reasons. For one thing, born in a business family, I had been influenced by my family’s economics sense and education. For another, I was nurtured in a new China which keeps economic development as its central task and under a backdrop of rapidly growing economic globalization When I was in middle school, I organized some classmates collecting the discarded bottles and cans on campus, and then we sent them to the reclamation depot, receiving some petty cash. I outlined the rules of our little “company” and the responsibilities of every member. We were happy because we earned money by doing a virtuous thing. Finally, we donated most of the money to our class as the activity funds. This was my first contact with business activity. After I graduated from my Chinese college, I opened an online store primarily selling slippers in the largest Chinese C2C website, TaoBao. During that period, I was working around the clock. I dedicated myself to it. One of my biggest proud of it was that I received 100 percent positive feedback from all customers. It was extremely hard to achieve this because I needed to pay my true love to both my store and the customers all the time. Under my direction, the business was flourishing every day, and we soon became one of the biggest slipper sellers in TaoBao. During the half a year, my earnings were more than most Chinese workers’ two-year-earnings. Meanwhile, I also solved a poor classmate’s employment problem by offering him a job. It is currently being run by my cousin, and the address is http://shop33903193.taobao.com/. No matter I reclaimed bottles and cans or ran online store was for the common purposes: to maintain the environment and to help others. I thought we could save resources and reduce pollutions through recycling waste and the online store could save people’s time as well as reduce emission by decreasing the vehicle operation. When I was in the Chinese college, I was often wondering why the economic development was always accompanying with political struggle and a sacrifice of environmental disruption. It is good for a state to pursue its economic advancement, but it should take the responsibility of protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development as well. How to achieve this goal? How to arouse people’s consciousness? These are some of the questions always puzzled me. I hope I could search out an answer by seeking knowledge in the U.S. which has the most advanced political and economic system in the world. Because of my explicit preferences, I have already had my future in mind. I might become an entrepreneur, a CEO, or an environmentalist. Regardless, if I choose to start my own business, I will prefer low-carbon industries; if I become a manager, I will take environment into the first consideration; if I work in government, I must engage in environmental work. I do want to earn money, but I want to contribute to the society even more; we do need increasingly economic growth, but we need green mountains, clear waters, blue sky and white cloud even more. I admire Americans could enjoy the fresh air and sunshine in California coast, and I wish my country could enjoy this someday. moreResolved Question: Are you aware that under Obamacare you likely will NOT be able to keep your private plan as he said?
http://money.cnn.com/2009/07/24/news/economy/health_care_reform_obama.fortune/ 4. Freedom to keep your existing plan This is the freedom that the President keeps emphasizing. Yet the bills appear to say otherwise. It's worth diving into the weeds -- the territory where most pundits and politicians don't seem to have ventured. The legislation divides the insured into two main groups, and those two groups are treated differently with respect to their current plans. The first are employees covered by the Employee Retirement Security Act of 1974. ERISA regulates companies that are self-insured, meaning they pay claims out of their cash flow, and don't have real insurance. Those are the GEs (GE, Fortune 500) and Time Warners (TWX, Fortune 500) and most other big companies. The House bill states that employees covered by ERISA plans are "grandfathered." Under ERISA, the plans can do pretty much what they want -- they're exempt from standard packages and community rating and can reward employees for healthy lifestyles even in restrictive states. But read on. The bill gives ERISA employers a five-year grace period when they can keep offering plans free from the restrictions of the "qualified" policies offered on the exchanges. But after five years, they would have to offer only approved plans, with the myriad rules we've already discussed. So for Americans in large corporations, "keeping your own plan" has a strict deadline. In five years, like it or not, you'll get dumped into the exchange. As we'll see, it could happen a lot earlier. The outlook is worse for the second group. It encompasses employees who aren't under ERISA but get actual insurance either on their own or through small businesses. After the legislation passes, all insurers that offer a wide range of plans to these employees will be forced to offer only "qualified" plans to new customers, via the exchanges. The employees who got their coverage before the law goes into effect can keep their plans, but once again, there's a catch. If the plan changes in any way -- by altering co-pays, deductibles, or even switching coverage for this or that drug -- the employee must drop out and shop through the exchange. Since these plans generally change their policies every year, it's likely that millions of employees will lose their plans in 12 months. moreResolved Question: What is the Main Objection to the Public Option in Healthcare Plan?
Surely it's not the idea of government offerring a reasonably priced and fairly administered health insurance contract? We have seen how corporate America works. From the big banks, to the big credit card companies and mortgage lenders, right. You don't pay these guys at least $10 million per year, they wouldn't even consider showing up for work. Most of them wind up getting $20 Million or $50 million when all parts of their pay and compensation and pension and healthcare and expense account are figured in. So the idea that corporate America is ludicrously greedy and rapacious is not news to anybody who has actually been on planet Earth for the past 10 years, right. Now comes government, and says it wants a non-greedy, and non rapacious healtg insurance company. It wants to set one up. It wants a chance to compete with the insanely greedy private companies, maybe offer a better product, or make them offer better products by giving them some honest competion. Well, if that's all there were to the offer, only a real Chicago School Purist would object. So, what's the big objection to the Public Option? Here it is. Imagine a company that wanted to sell flood insurance. OK so they sell most of their policies in the floodplain areas of the USA. In order to attract customers they say "We will pay off on these policies even if you buy them after your house has been completely washed away and destroyed utterly by a flood." Well, of course they sell a lot of policies, particularly after big floods. Everybody whose house has been destroyed buys a policy for $5,000 and then puts in their claim for their destroyed house for $500,000. Miracle of miracles this company soon finds itself in big financial trouble. Why? Because $5,000 is a much smaller number than $500,000. Now come the company executives, and they say, "How were we to know that our business model was faulty?" We went to Princeton, Harvard, and Yale, we studied speechmaking, and community organizing, and political theory. We have never seen the inside of any business, met any payroll, done any cost accounting, kept any books, or developed any business models. How were we to know? Is this really similar to a health insurance company that agrees to insure all persons regardless of pre-existing conditions. Imagine that the person is like the house. Imagine that the pre-existing condition, perhaps glioma of the brain, is the house already having gotten washed away in the flood last week. Imagine that the premium is $5,000 per year. Imagine that the operation for the glioma costs $500,000. Now, the rule of arithmetic that we visited earlier is still true, $5,000 is a smaller number than $500,000. Who could possibly imagine that such a health insurance company would run into financial trouble, and quite quickly, and quite deeply? No one in government. They went to Princeton, Harvard and Yale, you know the drill. The problem is this: The bad flood insurance company only hurts itself, it's policyholders, its employees and it shareholders. It winds up in bankrupcy Court and gets eliminated, within about 6 months. But the bad (crazy) U.S. Government backed health insurance company, can't go bankrupt. It has the full faith and credit of the Federal government behind it, who can print money, or take the bad debt onto the Fed Balance sheet. So this becomes the money black hole. It's like a cash whirlpool. The money disappears down it, and never comes back, and it gets bigger and hungrier every day, every hour. The rathole down which USA disappeared. So -- the problem is all about the fact that the government has a completely crazy business model for how a health insurance company can operate -- and it's not their fault -- what do they know from insurance? Zilch -- they are community organizers! So this is an idea in which everybody is a victim, even the ones coming forward with the idea now, they are victims too ''How were they to know?" moreResolved Question: LGB&T community can you help me explain this to a child?
I apreciate your thoughts, ideas & experience with this matter. I have no intentions of offending any member of this community. I am straight but am also a supporter of same sex couples. To each is own. I am here asking for help. When I hear a child or if my child comments on something and use these terms in a derogatory way what would be the best way to explain to them that it is wrong? For example I have heard kids say that's retarded or gay or "oh my God". I can't say to them these are bad words, because they are not, using them in such a way is wrong & hurtful. Keep in mind these are kids so I need a kid friendly way as to make them understand why it is wrong and hurtful to use them in a negative way. A long lecture will do no good as their attention span at these ages (5-10) are slim. Trying to explain what vain is, they aren't understanding. I know kids pick this up from other kids and when this particular boy comes around he calls everything gay and I have heard him call my younger ones gay. It completely annoys me. "That's gay, you're gay" all of the time. I even have it on video because he was at a birthday party & when my son broke the pinata on the first try he yelled "That's gay". When we watched the DVD my MIL pointed it out and I cringed! Please don't tell me I can't tell another persons kid this. I will definetly tell another child what my rules are if he's in MY home. I make the rules at my house. If it's my kid, your kid, or John Doe's kid if there are in my house I decide what's allowed. Now if I hear another kid at Wal-Mart then it's not my business. I'm also talking about when the child is playing Xbox and he get's angry for losing etc. he'll say "that's gay". Now if we were watching TV and 2 women were getting married and he said "that's gay". Perfectly fine to me as this is a true statement and I would agree. But if they were saying something negative about it I would say that is their opinion and I disagree as I have no problem with same sex relationships. I have this question in the PWD & R&S section. I also have a follow up question.. Do you think the uproar would be so big if Obama was white? @ wem.. you forget that the bank buyouts began during your savior bush's term. oh and as for the gm/chrysler thing.. gm is actually turning around. chrysler not so much.. i think its good for the government to boost certain things when they are suffering as long as the company will improve. and about the code pink things.. that was about the iraq war but nothing like we see now.. why are people buying the **** that oriley and rush are spouting? Deleted Answer: tada, hi... The simplest answer would be, probably, because America was NEVER in danger that barry soTUro, aka, hussein obama, put us into? But since you, like anti-semite and racist Carter, are playing a race card, the answer will be - YES, it is highly improper to exploit barry's skin in order to put him above any critique... Don't you know that he is just as white as he is black? Don't you know about millions of white folks, who contributed to his victory? That's where your own racism shows so clearly. In fact, tada, the real ONLY racism in today's America (not counting a hand full of "kkk" and skinny-heads, who are a JOKE) - is like that of a raging anti-white racism of hussein's life-long closest friend and spiritual "leader" jeremiah wright,..of so-called "first lady", who expressed her racism (and hatred to America the Beautiful) in public... of disgraced van jones... of shameless "pimps for racism" and frankly criminals - jessie jackass and al sharp thug... The REAL racism is reactionary "affirmative action" - a filth elevated to LAW, which demands promotion in education, business and society - based NOT on one's abilities, skills , talent and determination, but on ONE condition - to be a minority. Dr. King would be appalled by this dirty, "governized " racism, if he would be alive today... Moreover, tada, once hussein obama is gone - We the People (of all colors) will STOP that travesty... In 2006, Latina immigrants in Brooklyn, N.Y. formed a housekeepers' co-op to avoid exploitation, according to Vanessa Bransburg, cooperative coordinator of the Center for Family Life. With the help of the community organization, 19 women from Mexico and the Dominican Republic formed We Can Do It!, or Si Se Puede!, a slogan used by organized workers in Latin American and California. "A lot of these people really had the entrepreneurial spirit, but a lot of them don't really have up to high school education, so they weren't able to get a traditional job," said Bransburg. "Instead of following somebody else's rules, they wanted to be the bosses." The Center acts as their agent, with 100% of the cleaning fees going to the workers, who pay $40 in monthly dues to cover marketing costs. The organization has spun off two other worker co-ops: Beyond Care, with 19 child care workers, and Émigré Gourmet, a cooking collective. All the worker-owners have equal control over marketing and they develop their own relationships with their clients, said Bransburg. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Illegal, But Not Undocumented: Identity Theft, Document Fraud, And Illegal Employment By Ronald W. Mortensen Center for Immigration Studies This Backgrounder examines illegal immigration-related document fraud and identity theft that is committed primarily for the purpose of employment. It debunks three common misconceptions: illegal aliens are “undocumented;” the transgressions committed by illegal aliens to obtain jobs are minor; and illegal-alien document fraud and identity theft are victimless crimes. It discusses how some community leaders rationalize these crimes, contributing to a deterioration of the respect for laws in our nation, and presents a variety of remedies, including more widespread electronic verification of work status (E-Verify and the Social Security Number Verification Service) and immigrant outreach programs to explain the ramifications and risks of document fraud and identity theft. The findings include: Illegal immigrants are not “undocumented.” They have fraudulent documents such as counterfeit Social Security cards, forged drivers licenses, fake “green cards,” and phony birth certificates. Experts suggest that approximately 75 percent of working-age illegal aliens use fraudulent Social Security cards to obtain employment. Most (98 percent) Social Security number (SSN) thieves use their own names with stolen numbers. The federal E-Verify program, now mandated in only 14 states, can detect this fraud. Universal, mandatory use of E-Verify would curb this and stop virtually 100 percent of child identity theft. Illegal immigration and high levels of identity theft go hand-in-hand. States with the most illegal immigration also have high levels of job-related identity theft. In Arizona, 33 percent or all identity theft is job-related (as opposed to identity theft motivated simply by profit). In Texas it is 27 percent; in New Mexico, 23 percent; in Colorado, 22 percent; California, 20 percent; and in Nevada, 16 percent. Eight of the 10 states with the highest percentage of illegal aliens in their total population are among the top 10 states in identity theft (Arizona, California, Florida, Texas, Nevada, New York, Georgia, and Colorado). Children are prime targets. In Arizona, it is estimated that over one million children are victims of identity theft. In Utah, 1,626 companies were found to be paying wages to the SSNs of children on public assistance under the age of 13. These individuals suffer very real and very serious consequences in their lives. Illegal aliens commit felonies in order to get jobs. Illegal aliens who use fraudulent documents, perjure themselves on I-9 forms, and commit identity theft in order to get jobs are committing serious offenses and are not “law abiding.” Illegally employed aliens send billions of dollars annually to their home countries, rather than spending it in the United States and helping stimulate the American economy. In October 2008 alone, $2.4 billion was transferred to Mexico. Tolerance of corruption erodes the rule of law. Corruption is a serious problem in most illegal aliens’ home countries. Allowing it to flourish here paves the way for additional criminal activity and increased corruption throughout society. Leaders support perpetrators and ignore victims. Political, civic, religious, business, education, and media leaders blame Americans for “forcing” illegal aliens to commit document fraud and identity theft. No similar concern is expressed for the American men, women, and children whose lives are destroyed in the process. The Social Security Administration and Internal Revenue Service facilitate illegal immigrant-driven identity theft. Both turn a blind eye to massive SSN fraud and take no action to stop it. The Social Security Administration assigns SSNs to new-born infants that are being used illegally. The IRS demands that victims pay taxes on wages earned by illegal aliens using their stolen SSNs, while taking no action to stop the identity theft. State and local governments need to adopt tougher laws to supplement federal efforts. The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is targeting large document fraud rings and the most egregious employers, but their resources are limited and stretched across multiple priorities. In 2007, identity theft cases represented only 7 percent of the total ICE case loaFunny how advocates all use splc and we know they are very unreliable. Inspired by Saul Alinsky, FCC 'Diversity' Chief Calls for ‘Confrontational Movement’ to Give Public Broadcasting Dominant Role in Communications Wednesday, August 26, 2009 By Matt Cover Federal Communications Commission headquarters in Washington, D.C. (Photo courtesy of FCC) (CNSNews.com) – Mark Lloyd, chief diversity officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), called for a “confrontational movement” to combat what he claimed was control of the media by international corporations and to re-establish the regulatory power of government through robust public broadcasting and a more powerful FCC. Lloyd expressed his regulatory call to arms in his 2006 book, “Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy in America” (University of Illinois Press). In the book, Lloyd also said that public broadcasting should be funded through new license fees charged to the nation’s private radio and television broadcasters, and that new regulatory fees should be used to fund eight new regional FCC offices. These offices would be responsible for monitoring political advertising and commentary, children’s educational programs, number of commercials, and content ratings of the programs. Frequently referencing one of his heroes, left-wing activist Saul Alinsky, Lloyd claims in his book that the history of American communications policy has been one of continued corporate control of every form of communication from the telegraph to the Internet. “Citizen access to popular information has been undermined by bad political decisions,” Lloyd wrote. “These decisions date back to the Jacksonian Democrats’ refusal to allow the Post Office to continue to operate the telegraph service.” Lloyd claimed that neither technology nor liberal reforms have been able to overcome the damage caused when government fails to give everyone an equal voice. Throughout history, Lloyd said, “[t]he most powerful communications tool was deliberately placed in the hands of one faction in our republic: commercial industry.” “Neither Progressive era reforms nor new communications technologies have been able to correct the problems resulting from government abdication of a responsibility to advance the equal capability of citizen discourse,” Lloyd added. “Corporate liberty has overwhelmed citizen equality,” he wrote. Government, Lloyd said in his book, is the “only” institution that can manage the communications of the public, arguing that Washington must “ensure” that everyone has an equal ability to communicate. “The American republic requires the active deliberation of a diverse citizenry, and this, I argue, can be ensured only by our government,” he says. “Put another way, providing for the equal capability of citizens to participate effectively in democratic deliberation is our collective responsibility.” FCC seal Lessons for Radicals Lloyd relies heavily on the left-wing radical Saul Alinsky in explaining his strategy. Alinsky (1909-1972) was a community organizer and activist from Chicago and the author of the book, Rules for Radicals, which opens with an acknowledgment "to the very first radical ... Lucifer." As for political tactics, Alinsky said, “The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away. In this book we are concerned with how to create mass organizations to seize power and give it to the people. This means revolution." With Alinsky as the political guide, Lloyd outlines nine “lessons” that people can draw on when trying to combat international businesses. 1. “Organizing people must be a priority. In order to counter effectively the power of major corporations we understood that we had to be able to demonstrate the support of hundreds of thousands of people. As Alinksy wrote: ‘Change comes from power, and power comes from organization. In order to act, people must get together.’” 2. “Understand where people stand on your issue. Once we were clear that we needed to drum up the support of people, we needed to understand what people knew about our issues. As Alinksy wrote, ‘if people feel they don’t have the power to change a bad situation, then they do not think about it.’” 3. “Connect with groups that have already organized the community. Our means of reaching local communities was through existing national organizations. We reached out to groups that had large constituencies and articulated our message by identifying how our goals fit their core interests.” 4. “The strategy must have an inside and an outside game. For media reform, this means we needed to embrace the necessity of operating both in and outside Washington [D.C.].” 5. “Don’t wait for events to unfold on their own. Pressure, pressure, pressure. If we wanted events to work in a direction that would benefit us, we knew we needed moreResolved Question: Will Obama pass amnesty the pressure of CHIRLA to Napolitano: we expect immediate action on immigration?
Los Angeles – Leaders from faith, law enforcement, immigrant rights, business and labor will meet this Thursday with Secretary of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Janet Napolitano to discuss immigration reform. The following is a statement by Angelica Salas, Executive Director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA), a regional immigrant and human rights organization based in Los Angeles: “As President Obama’s designee to oversee the much needed overhaul of our nation’s broken immigration system, we expect Secretary Napolitano to share with the community what progress has been made in terms of moving immigration reform forward. As the person in charge of pitching reform to legislators and to the general public we need her to exert active leadership not in six months, not when a bill is introduced, but immediately. The effort to move immigration reform will require all of our collective efforts to reach a just and humane solution to our nation’s archaic immigration laws. The latest report of eleven more immigrant deaths while in detention centers throughout the United States and the lack of clarity about who is accountable to whom within ICE, concerns us deeply. We urge Secretary Napolitano to clarify how the human and civil rights of detainees are being ensured and protected and to describe how the enforcement goals of the department can be met by such inefficient and often secretive system. Secretary Napolitano should share with community leaders how she will guarantee that the department she oversees will in fact be accountable to the American public. Secretary Napolitano has stated in the past that our country needs immigration reform to restore the rule of law and the integrity of our immigration system. Now that she is in the position to lead we ask that she demonstrates how she envisions getting the work done.”http://www.examiner.com/x-9270-LA-Border-and-Immigration-Examiner~y2009m8d19-CHIRLA-to-Napolitano-we-expect-immediate-action-on-immigration-reform Is this going to be resolve by Obama like heath care the decider , decides the country must accept what he decides ??? moreResolved Question: Do you know what Obama HAS accomplished in 6 months?

Is it socialism or accountability? Overall, after taxes, America’s very rich — the top 0.01 percent — have nearly quadrupled their share of the nation’s income since 1979. This top 0.01 percent averaged $24.3 million, after taxes, in 2005. Between 1979 and 2005, the after-tax share of the nation’s income that went to middle-income Americans — households that made between $45,200 and $67,400 in 2005 — dropped by 12.7 percent. Congressional Budget Office, Historical Effective Tax Rates, 1979 to 2005: Supplement with Additional Data on Sources of -Income and High-Income Households, December 23, 2008 Some say that ceo's earn the compensation they recieve. looking at the past year if performance dictates reward, then our reward system is seriously broken. To say that is not the business of society or the community or even those working under these ceo's has became the norm. It has become none of our business, for even uttering the words ceo compensation is to high one immediately bcomes greedy, or a socialist. We watch as Ceo's cut the workforce, and freeze raises, while their own pay goes up. We watch shareholder value decline, then reward the ceo with a parting gift that ensures never having to worry about their financial future How anyone can look back at the last 50 years, and justify the pay Ceo's are recieving now and not see. When comparing the jobs being created by Ceo's in the 50's until the mid 80's as partial proof of a serious problem. One cannot deny that inovation has been the cause of job loss. At the same time new inovations should have filled this void. Instead offshoring, cuts in pay, raises that didn't even match inflation became the rule instead of the exception. As voters increasingly reject school levies in their comunities, one has to think. If the wages of the worker and the ceo would have been kept more balanced would are schools and local communities be facing the financial problems of today? This is how capitalism works is sure to be some answers. Yet we overlook the society that enabled the owner of a company to start his business and suceed, the infrastructure that helped them grow their business the roads, telephones, the public funded research and development that funded research resulting in the internet. Making Bill Gates one of the worlds richest men. The ceo who attended public schools, received public funding to further their education or even working their way through school lived in a society where that was possible. How am I such a liberal socialist want to take from the hard working ceo, who is trying to create jobs and wealth? Where are the jobs with a living wage? Where is the bulk of wealth going? 10% of company profits to ceo compensation in the words of Sara Palin "this is not the america I want for my parents or children" moreResolved Question: Making money on the side?
I'll ask that nobody floods me with "get rich quick" schemes, or anything of that nature. The last few months I've spent trying to get some sort of side-income going. I've tried being a video game tester (impossible without relocating), tried selling custom-designed T-Shirts (I had great designs, a great website, everybody loved them, but never sold a single shirt over 3 months time), thought about making World of Warcraft characters on new accounts and selling them to online companies (illegal by WoW's rules, and extremely time consuming), and now I've thought about trying to sell wholesale items on eBay (the problem is finding those items, without a middleman) Right now I'm going to college, I don't want to replace my part-time job, and I don't want to make a fortune. All I want to do, is find a legitimate way to make some extra money on the side; preferably online. Sure, I could sell things laying around the house for some extra money on eBay; but that won't generate any steady income, and I'll run out of items far too quickly. All the methods I've found so far, which are legitimate, always take hours upon hours of time and effort, for very little profit. (Like ChaCha.com) Everything else I've found is usually some sort of scam that's trying to "replace your career and make $10,000 a month!". That's the sort of thing I DON'T want. Or, I'll find something that sounds wonderful online, but it always comes back to the same catch: "Complete 3 of our premium offers!". I want something legitimate, and something that ISN'T a get-rich-quick scheme, and WON'T generate a truckload of money. I want something fair, and something that will generate an accurate amount of money based on how much effort I put into it; something foolproof and doesn't require a bunch of money to get started. I'd love to start my own extremely-small-business online, selling items over eBay, but it's nearly impossible to come by any products or a good stable system for those products. Just when it seems like I've found "the right thing", it either doesn't work, or requires a lot of money. Is there ANYTHING out there, anything at all, that I can do on the side in my spare time, to make a few extra bucks online? I'd love to be a part of those gold-farming communities for online gaming, but they always require you to relocate, or they don't have any application status, or it's illegal based on the said game. Is there nothing I can do in my spare time to make a few bucks, from home, or around the area? And I'm not talking a garage sale or a lemonade stand, I want something stable, semi-profitable, and fair. moreResolved Question: What's Fair vs. What the Judge Will Rule?
"John" is 30. Has been married to "Kathy", age 25, for three years. They met at John's place of employment. He had a stable career; she was struggling to get through her freshman year at a community college. They fell in love, and John paid for Kathy's education at a well-known university. Now both are degreed and married to each other. No children. When Kathy decided to start a business form home, John supported it financially and with his time outside of his day job. As the business grew, they moved to a larger home so she would have the work space needed to run it. He's tried to get a business loan, but he's white and doesn't live in a depressed area, so he was denied. John recently discovered an unfinished note that Kathy had left on the computer's desktop. John was stunned to learn that he was about to be served divorce papers. When he asked her about it, she said, "Surely you had to know this was coming." John had not been aware of any trouble in the relationship prior to that point. He offered to go to counseling, but her mind was made up. From Kathy's cell phone records, John learned that she had contacted a former paralegal almost 200 times in a two week period. This former paralegal happens to be one of John's male co-workers. When he asked her about this, Kathy denied that it was the same guy. John can prove this it is. John is hurt and still in shock over this turn of events. He doesn't want to believe that she would take advantage of him now, but Kathy's attorney is asking John to pay $2,000 per month in alimony, which would be cut in half after one year, and again after the second year. He does have a vested interest in the business, but it's not self-supporting and he doesn't really want any part of it. If he fights to keep that interest, Kathy could go bankrupt which would damage John's credit rating. 1. What should John fight for in court? 2. What will the judge likely rule? moreResolved Question: Help to get into college???? HELP!?

Wasn't it Adam Smith who said in the Wealth of Nations "(capitalism) functions best under the rule of a monarchy (or aristocracy). If merchants were allowed to govern themselves, (as in a Democracy similar to the USA), it would be the worst form of government (under which capitalism can function). It is hard to believe that an economist that the founding fathers of the USA would cite as a source as their economist would have such an opinion about how capitalism would not thrive in a democracy. Consider that the Wealth of Nations was published before the United States even existed as a sovereign nation. The British speak in English differently than Americans. Their accent is different. There choice of words. The USA is governed by a President and Congress. The UK is governed by a monarch (Queen Elizabeth) and Parliament. The legal and justice systems are different. In essence, the British have a different culture than Americans even though we share the same common language. Would it not follow that how Americans do business is different from how the English do business? It is no problem to show a topless teenage girl on page three of a British newspaper. It is a problem to show a bloody photograph showing graphic depictions of blood and gore that are seen daily in American newspapers who self righteously shun any nudity for the sake of the common good. I have personally found myself running into conflict with this in regard to what UK Yahoo lists as community guidelines. To follow them I have had to put my thinking cap on to imagine what the average British person would find offensive, as community guidelines vary as widely as the stretch of the Atlantic Ocean and two different types of governments so divide the British from the Americans. I have learned that it seems to be perfectly acceptable to label Israelis as Nazis and include links to hate cites that promote antisemitism. However, for me to ask question about Cape Cod and post a link to my Flickr account with a few innocent photos of the Cape, seems to get every Brits knickers in a twist. A few posters started a rumor that my link contained photos of my penis which isn't true but somehow believe by every poster after that. Then some person, from overseas no doubt, reported my question for some arcane violation which I have disputed. It is a good thing that Bush did not decide to invade the UK and set up a democracy there, pitting Elizabeth in a spider hole and putting her on trial and setting up a Bechtel mini mall with factories and customer service centers like they are trying to do in Iraq. No doubt, it would fail miserably. Adam Smith was right for them. The UK needs it's monarchy and aristocracy Parliament to function. Communication seems to be one way street over there. They talk. You listen. Open your mouth to them and it's off with your head.Well, I wasn't expecting a hug from this post. And where, m'am, are you from? Should I bow or genuflect when addressing you? Democracy you say? Really? Then what were the Revolution and the War of 1812 about anyway. You'd make an interesting bit of entertainment walking along with the buskers on the Freedom Trail in Boston. Actually Britain has been a democracy for 300 years. Hitler was also an elected official in a Democratic Germany. Kind of that European version of Democracy no doubt. moreResolved Question: would most citizens agree to the following rules in politics or is it asking too much?
I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me.. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me? Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation: One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration. Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal. Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it. Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say. Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down! Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down.. Mind your own business. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate. Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine.. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support.. this is going to be a bit long but someone please listen :'( ok, i'm an only child and am chinese (yes this means strict family education...) there's alot of 'invisible' problems going between my mum and dad. well recently my mum kept blabbering about my dad and his doings. my dad's personality is quite 'manly' and he thinks he kinda rules the house and everything he says is right, and nobody is allowed to say he's wrong. he's like a person you can't really like but on the other hand can't really hate either, but only when he's in a good mood and gives out money and jokes around...lol. on the other hand my mum is kinda strict (she locked me in my room without computer for a few months before my finals.) but she's nice most of the time and buys clothes and everything. but recently she's gotten pretty annoying badmouthing about my dad (altho most of the things she says is actually true...). these days when she's a bit angry (i think its PMS...!) she goes on complaining about almost everything with a smile on her face, which makes me go WTF and rebut her arguments. for example, today she was saying how you can't hear any words at all in rock songs (which happen to be my favourite genre of music) and i got pissed and everything and then she got pissed and started to ignore me with no end. altho, i actually kinda like this because she won't annoy me for a while. then back to the real problem, my mum is saying bad things about my dad and saying how i shouldn’t care because i'm in my most important education right now (going university in a 2 years), its like as if she's saying she wants to divorce my dad. i can't blame her, once i mistakenly taken a new durex box (i suppose everyone knows what this means.) out of my dad's pocket thinking it was candy. And i know it has been in use in our country, i just want to know why u people think it CAN work as Karl Marx wanted it to be used (full socialism). ***Let me add what Hitler did, that fits the definition: Perhaps it might be meaningful to put down some of the goals that Hitler achieved: 1) Almost complete nationalization of business, with the government, controlling everything. 2) Had massive regulatory agencies policing every aspect of life. 3) Government was allowed to takeover any business in violation of rules and or for the good of the state. 4) Forced profit sharing with employees (set wages, maximum amount business owners or manager could make. 5) Outlawed all profits during wartime on war materials. 6) Abolished all income not earned directly from work. (99% capital gains tax, 90% inheritance tax) 7) Created a extremely progressive tax structure with 99% taxes for the rich. 8) Provided "livelihood for all citizens, this was encompassed by cruises and resorts that although not free were funded by the government and allowed the poor to have the same vacations as the rich. 9) Insurance funded by the government 10) Price Caps 11 13 minutes ago Did both Hitler and Mussolini succeed in creating an amazing "economy"? I think not... Why do you think people were crazy for freedom when America and the Brits came?i asked this a while ago. Usually socialists come from all over to call people names. i only got one answer...please explain how it can succeed in full use...Okay "pip" i can understand that. But i've heard idiots here say that "pure socialism" works. moreResolved Question: Is Georgia the biggest racist state in the country ?
Study: White males hit hardest by Georgia job losses new study shows white males are bearing the burden of job losses in Georgia, contradicting conventional thought that minorities typically suffer more from unemployment during down economic times. The study released by the Georgia Department of Labor on Tuesday examined joblessness among black men and women, and white men and women. It found the number of men of any race drawing unemployment insurance increasing 160 percent from December 2007 through May. Among white males, it increased 211 percent, to 51,562 men. That’s compared to a 78.8 percent increase for black females — the smallest increase in unemployment benefit claims among any of the four groups studied. OK, so the wonderful United Kingdom, British Empire, global centre of excellence for quality manufacturing...... and so on. What do you think of it now? Crime rates are high and rising, but statisitics are corrupt due to re-categorising of certain offences. Banking industry has collapsed, NHS is like a free for all with each NHS district operating to it's own standard...post code lottery for treatment. The hard working british citizen that finds himself unfortunate to be made redundant after many years of contribution and then receives less than the illegal immigrant next door! Highest teenage pregnacy rate in Europe. Severe drug and alcohol issues throughout the country. Pathetic unthought rules on subjects such as banning hand guns for honest legal owners, banning of certain dog breeds for good dog owners.... the list endless and after all these measures the gun crime still exists and dangerous dogs ownership is growing as it's all been pushed underground. It's not as if the police can cope with it as half of them are now 'Community Support Officers' or Street Wardens'. The only real police seem more interested in sitting in a van with a portable speed camera in front trying to generate enough revenue to pay their wages. There are manufacturing businesses going to the wall and the government just turn there back and seem more interested in stickig their noses in on foreign affairs. Is it just me or is this country (if not already there) well on it's way to ruin? moreResolved Question: Scientology? What do you guys think? Why do you think that?
Okay before you answer this question go here and read Scientology.org And I do not want to hear about a cult,TomKat, Crazy authors,Aliens,or about them trying to control you.Because first of all a cult is what? Cult- definitions coined from 1920 onward[1] refer to a cohesive social group and their devotional beliefs or practices, which the surrounding population considers to be outside of mainstream cultures. The surrounding population may be as small as a neighborhood, or as large as the community of nations. They gratify curiosity about, take action against, or ignore a group, depending on its reputed similarity to cults previously reported by mass media. The spelling c-u-l-t has at least nine defined meanings[2] divided among positive, negative, and neutral connotations: * Positive: In common or popular usage, "cult" has a positive connotation for fan groups of art, music, writing, fiction,[3] and fashion devotees (see Cult following). "Cult" also has a positive connotation when used in the original and classic sense of veneration by any group of worshipers, though this meaning is usually applied to groups known from antiquity, including historic cults of the major religions (see Cult (religious practice)). * Negative: Also in common or popular usage, "cult" has a negative connotation for new religious, extreme political, questionable therapeutic, and pyramidal business groups.[4] Theological cults also have a negative connotation as defined by fundamentalist Christians to include both new and major religion groups.[5] For these reasons, most, if not all, non-fan groups that are called cults reject this label. * Neutral: In twentieth century and some current scientific usage, "cult" is a technical term with a neutral connotation[6] (see Sociology of religion). Neutral usage of "cult" in sociological science has been partly replaced by the phrase new religious movement (NRM) – but not entirely: because not all sociologically-defined cults are new or religious, there was a formal objection to the term-replacing campaign as "politics of representation",[7] and ultimately the public didn't accept the replacement term.[8] Between 3,000 and 5,000 neutrally-defined sociological cults existed in the United States in 1995.[9] Since less than 200 groups have been reported by governments as cults entangled with the law,[10] and less than 20 have been described as destructive cults,[11] the vast majority of non-fan groups referred to as cults are well-behaved and known only to their neighbors. TomKat- She is a very happy woman.....But Scientology has nothing to do with him.He did not found this L Ron Hubbard did. Crazy Authors- The way he funded his research was through those books. That is why he wrote those and he was a wonderful writer. Aliens- People stole things from the church and made it what they wanted it to be....The only way to truly know what is on those OT levels is to get to those levels. And anyone who did them would not be on here talking about them. Controling- They do not control anyone....It is your choice as to what you do. But there are rules just like with any religion...And the fact that the rules are just normal everyday rules that you would follow is a plus.....Its not as though someone is telling you to kill someone or that you cant talk to this person and if you do you are banned from our Church. Oh and as for the abortion stuff no Scientologist would ever make you get an abortion and I have found that most Scientologist are against Abortions. So now what would you say? They are not MADE to get an abortion Fluffy...It is their choice. moreTop Business Rules Community Links
