Author explores the darker side of Brook Farm

Delano said the most serendipitous Brook Farm finding he came across started with a phone call from a wealthy entrepreneur in Ohio who had found and bought a previously unknown book of watercolors painted by Mary Ann Dwight in November 1845.

"I thought at that moment, this book is destined to be finished," he said.

The audience members were very impressed when Delano showed the 24 postcard-sized paintings to them. The paintings depict mostly of flora and fauna, but also included two images of the farm's buildings. Only two other contemporary images of the farm were known before Delano published the watercolors on the dust jacket of his book.

Delano made high-quality reproductions of the paintings and plans to give the West Roxbury Historical Society a copy of the prints. more

Book Review: The Accidental Entrepreneur

Whatever the reason, we became entrepreneurs—accidentally. So here we are; what do we do now?

We read Susan Urquhart-Brown's book The Accidental Entrepreneur if we're smart. This book is filled with, as she says, “50 things I wish someone had told me about starting a business." Fifty very valuable things, I might add.
