Certifications of Key Staff 24/03/2008 20:30:00 Business Wire Ballistic Recovery Systems, the world s leading manufacturer of whole-aircraft parachute systems, has announced the following staff appointments to several parachute-industry committees and updates on certification attainments.
Frank Hoffmann, VP of Engineering, was appointed chairman of the ASTM F.37 task group for whole aircraft parachute recovery systems on light sport aircraft (LSA).
In this position, Mr.
Hoffmann will guide the task group members to improvements and updates of relevant standards to reflect ongoing changes in technology.
Chosen by a committee of his peers, Mr.
Hoffmann s appointment to this key position allows him to influence future design standards for this product line.

Dear FSB: We are a small business in the Philadelphia area. How should I select a telecom company? Is there an independent evaluation anywhere of these companies by region?

Dear Meg: Small businesses are lucrative customers for telecom companies, especially in urban areas, so you will have plenty of choices. Carriers that may operate in your area include Qwest (Q, Fortune 500), Verizon (VZ, Fortune 500), AT&T (T, Fortune 500) or XO Communications (OTC: XOHO).

But getting a completely independent evaluation is probably not possible; you have to do legwork, too.

Start by contacting a handful of providers directly for quotes and information. Alternatively, you can contact an independent sales agent trained in packaging the services of multiple carriers, says Jeff Keane of Atco, N.J.-based KeaneTel. more

Mo Valley group sets focus for new year

The Moshannon Valley Economic Development Partnership held its annual planning meeting in mid-January to review the previous year and set a focus for 2008, the partnership�s 20th year.

Plans for 2008 include: marketing the Moshannon Valley Regional Business Park, assisting in bringing health care back to the Moshannon Valley, marketing and renovating existing partnership properties and continuing the housing rehabilitation program.

The group plans to evaluate potential sites for future land acquisition, determine the needs of Resource Recovery and provide assistance, if necessary.

There are also plans to build on the successes of the Main Street Program, working with local elected officials and build on regional partnerships to plan for growth as I-99 opens, continuing a business retention and expansion program and exploring a plan for developing waste coal reuse programs in the region. more

My understanding is the following, is it correct? -Charge GST to every one of our customers within Canada, except for people from the HST provinces where we charge HST according to their rates; -No need to charge PST at all, as I can let my customers remit PST due to their province (assuming they're honest about it); -no need for international customers. Tomato Millionaire - Joke An unemployed man goes to apply for a job with Microsoft as a janitor. The manager there arranges for him to take an aptitude test (Section: Floors, sweeping and cleaning). After the test, the manager says, "You will be employed at minimum wage, $5.15 an hour. Let me have your e-mail address, so that I can send you a form to complete and tell you where to report for work on your first day. Taken aback, the man protests that he has neither a computer nor an e-mail address. To this the MS manager replies, "Well, then, that means that you virtually don't exist and can therefore hardly expect to be employed. Stunned, the man leaves. Not knowing where to turn and having only $10 in his wallet, he decides to buy a 25 lb flat of tomatoes at the supermarket. Within less than 2 hours, he sells all the tomatoes individually at 100% profit. Repeating the process several times more that day, he ends up with almost $100 before going to sleep that night. Just imagine where you would be now, if you had been connected to the internet from the very start!" After a moment of thought, the tomato millionaire replied, "Why, of course! I would be a floor cleaner at Microsoft!" Moral of this story: 1. The Internet, e-mail and e-commerce do not need to rule your life. 2. If you don't have e-mail, but work hard, you can still become a millionaire. 3.
