ARM Holdings plc Reports Results for the Second Quarter and Half

Normalised sales and marketing costs in Q2 2008 were GBP10.9 million, being 17% of revenues, compared to GBP11.0 million in Q1 2008 and GBP10.5 million in Q2 2007. Normalised general and administrative expenses in Q2 2008 were GBP11.3 million, representing 17% of revenues, compared to GBP12.2 million in Q1 2008 and GBP11.9 million in Q2 2007.

Normalised operating margin in Q2 2008 was 31.5% (8.1) compared to 30.6% (8.2) in Q1 2008 and 32.0% (8.3) in Q2 2007.

Earnings and taxation

Income before income tax in Q2 2008 was GBP12.6 million compared to GBP12.0 million in Q2 2007. After adjusting for acquisition-related, share-based compensation and restructuring charges, normalised income before income tax in Q2 2008 was GBP21.1 million (8.6) compared to GBP22.5 million (8.8) in Q2 2007. more

Supervisors Advance Plans For International Business Outreach

Making good on campaign promises to get more proactive in seeking out business growth in Loudoun, the board of supervisors' Economic Development Committee began discussions with county staff this morning about which business areas the county should focus.Staff from the Department of Economic Development presented the committee with five industry clusters available for development in eastern Loudoun: aerospace, aviation and cargo, defense and federal business, an international program, life sciences and information and communications technology. The county already has two industry clusters getting specific staff attention: tourism and the rural economy.During the FY2009 budget deliberations, the board appropriated $340,000 for proactive industry cluster development. During budget discussions, the board earmarked $90,000 of that money to hire one cluster development manager. more

Ultra Motors launches high range electric scooter

In fiscal 2007-08, the company had a technical collaboration cum-joint marketing agreement with Hero Exports to produce and jointly market electric two-wheelers in India.

He said it was proposed to increase the dealerships across India from 150 to 275, thereby ensuring a pan-India presence.

Ultra Motors has plans to invest Rs 140 crore in three years in product development, marketing and distribution.

Pointing out that Kerala offers a huge potential for electric two-wheelers, he said Ultra Motors has received good response for 'Velociti' electric two-wheelers launched four months ago. About 300 units were sold in just four months.

With rising petrol prices, customers have a good option in electric two-wheelers, he said, adding that there was good response in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, where electric two-wheelers were launched. more
