Hall catching on in second year with Sox
After signing a two-year, $3.65 million contract prior to last season, Hall was expected to give the Sox a proven bat and solid defensive skills in relief of No. 1 catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
But after dislocating his shoulder during spring training, Hall wasn't even able to join the Sox until May 18, and the 32-year-old receiver basically tried playing with one arm. Maybe that's why his numbers (.207, no home runs, 3 RBI in 38 games) were so lackluster, and maybe that's why Hall threw out just 3 of 29 basestealers. "You just can't wait for it to get over so you can start preparing for the next season,'' Hall said. "It wasn't much fun, because you're jumping in during the middle of the season and you're just not healthy enough to perform. "Just being able to show what you can do, it's good to be back and feel normal again.'' After getting 3 hits in each of his last two starts, Hall was back behind the plate Tuesday night against the Indians. moreBig Business Starts to Sour on Vista
"There's no business value in us continuing to chase that upgrade cycle," says Robert Reeder, senior vice-president and chief information officer at Alaska Airlines (ALK), which plans to pass on Vista.
TIGHTER SECURITYThe troubles with Vista come as Microsoft is struggling to expand beyond its core software products. The behemoth made its $47 billion offer for Yahoo! (YHOO) as a way to boost its scale on the Net and improve its prospects in online advertising. But the deal fell apart after the two sides couldn't agree on price. Wall Street analysts still keep closest watch on the company's traditional products, and customers aren't buying Vista at the rate expected. "It's just not taking off," says Brent Thill, software research director at Citigroup (C).

Summertime Ideas for Family Fun
The potential for bickering and bad choices looms but so do the opportunities for polishing their negotiating and problem-solving skills. Summer is their time to make real memories together.- Summer camps. A week learning interesting skills, making new friends and exploring the outdoors can provide a valuable break for both kids and moms. Just be wary of over-scheduling. Cool camps abound, but back-to-back all summer long drags everyone down.- Swimming! Whether you frequent the community swimming pool, jump into your own or visit a nearby lake or pond, swimming is the best. Purchase some inexpensive water toys, find age appropriate lessons, lather on the sunscreen and always be diligent around the water.- Fairs, festivals and farmer's markets. My kids love to prowl around for baked goods at our farmer's market, which starts this month. more

Open Question: Now that Capital one increased my interest rate?
I have to shop for a new credit card. What is the best credit card out there for good credit? I don't travel a lot, so I care less for flier miles. Low interest rate is the most important factor to consider since I carry balance from month to month. Cash-back rewards would be cool too. (For you info, the rate increased from 9% to 17%, when I called them seeking an explanation for that, they said that it is because of the state of capital one's business and the economy too. They could not lower it back to the original rate. moreOpen Question: Why do most people struggle to make money or have any success in MLM or Network Marketing?

Before you answer, please keep in mind that virtually all the Neo-Conservatives at AEI and at AIPAC, and in the Rumsfeld Pentagon, and at The New Republic (Kristol pere et fils) started out in the 1950's and 1960's as radical left wing socialists. They were the American communists, and then they claimed to see the light, and became the radical "NEO-CONSERVATIVES" which in fact are no kind of conservatives at all, but actually are globalist, zionist, communists who agree with no part of George Washington's ideas about keeping clear of foreign entanglements, and no part of Barry Goldwater's idea about the primacy of the individual rather than the collective in this democratic republic USA. Is Obama a globalist? Yes, he is. Is Obama a free trader? Yes he is. Is Obama following in the footsteps of G.W. Bush in coddling the NYC Bankers and Hedge Fund Managers and obscenely greedy monsters of America killing job exportation to China? Yes he is. Is Obama failing to regulate the banks and credit card companies and allowing them to operate under Wild Wild West rules just like G.W. Bush? Yes he is. Donna Baird notwithstanding, Obama is mainly about making speeches, his deeds in the area of regulation of the financial industry are a big fat Zero. He loves Henry Paulson and Tim Geithner. He loves Goldman Sachs (the main beneficiary of the AIG $300 Billion bailout). $50 million bonuses are being paid out again on Wall Street -- it's business as usual. The Marxist features of Obama are too obvious to require extended narration. Obamacare is plainly a Marxist plot to take over 1/6th of the US economy. His Justice Department (Eric Holder) has proceeded down ACLU/Marxist lines particularly in closing Gitmo and doing the trial of KSM in a civilian court in Manhattan. How about throwing $100 Billion at the Global Warming Copenhagen Conferences. How about the Meals-On-Wheels warfare rules of engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan? How about Cap and Trade. How about his Department of Education? Plainly the man is a Marxist. Were Marxist and Neo-Conservative EVER separate ideas? Weren't the NEO-CONSERVATIVES just Marxists in deep camo all along --- they claimed to be reformed from their views in the 1950's and 1960's but they actually never reformed at all. One world. Wendell Wilkie saw it. Woodrow Wilson saw it. The zionists see it. Not Goldwater, not George Washington, not Pat Buchanan -- these are the actual conservatives. The NEOs are just a ruse, false flagging, deception, disinformation, agitprop. Obama and Rham Emanuel fit right in, Axelrod is just a groupie, he is lost in space, Valerie same thing, Biden is getting dragged along, he's not sure where. moreResolved Question: what do you think about this computer?

Porn in the USA: Conservatives Are Biggest Consumers 8 of Top 10 Porn-Consuming States Voted Republican in 2008 Presidential Election By EWEN CALLAWAY Feb. 28, 2009 Americans may paint themselves in increasingly bright shades of red and blue, but new research finds one thing that varies little across the nation: the liking for online pornography. A new nationwide study (pdf) of anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider finds little variation in consumption between states. "When it comes to adult entertainment, it seems people are more the same than different," says Benjamin Edelman at Harvard Business School. However, there are some trends to be seen in the data. Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds. "Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by," Edelman says. Political Divide Edelman spends part of his time helping companies such as Microsoft and AOL detect advertising fraud. Another consulting client runs dozens of adult websites, though he says he is not at liberty to identify the firm. That company did, however, provide Edelman with roughly two years of credit card data from 2006 to 2008 that included a purchase date and each customer's postal code After controlling for differences in broadband internet access between states – online porn tends to be a bandwidth hog – and adjusting for population, he found a relatively small difference between states with the most adult purchases and those with the fewest. The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users; Montana bought the least with 1.92 per 1000. "The differences here are not so stark," Edelman says. Number 10 on the list was West Virginia at 2.94 subscriptions per 1000, while number 41, Michigan, averaged 2.32. Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year's presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/Business/story?id=6977202&page=1 moreVoting Question: What will the big banks do in the future? "If" things turn around.?
This is all hypothetical to me.........but here it goes: If and when the economy gets rolling again prior to everything really going down the drain about 2-3 years ago... I'd go farther with the gas prices going to 4.00 a gal but.................do you think the big banks are really going to suffer the consequences from the middle class consumer? I ask this for a few reasons- One, those of us that can manage to get by w/out the credit cards even after they jacked up the interest rates, and all those other things to squeeze us like a sandwich, when those balances get paid off, I really don't think our mindset is going to be to use them again even if the interest rates go into the single digits! I think the small community banks will eventually prevail over the big banks in the end because the whole world learned their lesson ( especially we indulgent Americans) and make it even harder for them to get return or new customers. I think the mindset will focus more on paying w/cash, and really waiting for the things we need or want when we have the cash to pay for it. It's our fault yes, for whipping out the plastic every other time to offset the checking account balance, but it's not our fault for the banks sticking it to us because they know they can. Like I said "if and when", I'm not going into the politics of it. When the big guy takes advantage of the little guy, the little guy will pay his dues, but when their paid, he will move elsewhere and burn the big guys bridge, never to return. Thats my logic anyway. I think in the end, at least hope, that when things turn around for the better, that big business is going to be hurting for our business even more before things took a tumble. I'm sure I'll here Republican, Democrat, and Obama right? Thank Bush for the Iraq war, and thank the banks for the housing collapse. I think things were pretty good before we invaded Iraq. I mean, did we really have to? I don't think so. I'm referencing the "middle class consumer" here. We're the ones getting the shaft the most IMO. moreResolved Question: What is this in Y! answers? I have a small business and it was opened two weeks ago. what do creditors such as AMERICAN EXPRESS or VISA look for in new small business to approve them for credit. moreResolved Question: I need help with a complicated divorce situation...?
I was married for 7 years, have three kids, 2,8, and 9. My ex and I struggled for many years with intense fighting, her alcoholism, and other marital issues. It was hard for me to do, as we had kids, but I decided that divorce was best for everyone, seeing that all we did was fight. I own a house, a house that was our marital home. We were separated in November 2007, the divorce was finalized in January 2009. We could not come to an agreement in our divorce, as she demanded quite a bit. I gave in and agreed to pay $1400 monthly for child support, and the mortgage on the marital home ($900 a month) for one year, after one year, she was to begin "renting" the home from me for $600 monthly, with me paying the leftover $300. Well, a lot has happened in the past year. I own a business, which is losing a lot of money because of the bad economy, and my monthly debts (credit cards, loans, etc) are now 60 days late. I am facing bankruptcy, and CANNOT pay for the mortgage. To add to this, my ex has been flaky with rent, and states she does not have the money to pay the rent. I have not made the mortgage payment in almost 60 days. MY PROBLEM: My parents are affluent, they live a higher standard of life. They are appalled that I am going to let the home go into foreclosure, that my children will have to move to an apartment. They state that the kids do not deserve to live "like that". They have been guilting me, like I am a horrible father for making my kids live in an apartment. (Might I add, my ex is fine with the apartment idea.) Are my parents right? Am I a bad father for not providing my kids with a large, newer home? Is it bad for your kids to live in an apartment? I feel really torn, as I really want the best for my kids, and don't want to hurt them. But it is literally impossible for me to keep providing my ex and the kids with such a high standard of living that we lived when we were married. The standard of living that I had provided was largely based on credit cards, now, they are maxed out, and unpaid. I do know and admit that I was in over my head, so please, no harsh or judgmental replies. My name is solely on the mortgage. My ex has not worked in probably 8 years. She is currently unemployed, and has no other income other than child support, ($1400 a month). I am upside down on the home, as I have refinanced quite a few times, and the value of my home has deteriorated due to the many foreclosures in my neighborhood. My ex does have sole custody, she has told me that she has stopped drinking, but unfortunately I would have no way of knowing if she is telling the truth. moreResolved Question: Was I able to avoid this scam?
Several years ago, I tried out the "fill out ads for money" deal. I unknowingly filled ads with my email and mailing address, and was eventually sent some products (books) that I did not want. Supposedly, they were free when I filled that ad, but then they charged me with an invoice totaling up for a large amounts of money. And it didn't stop there. Each month, they kept sending books, although I called and emailed them to stop because I did not want their service. It took a while to stop them, but once it ended, I lost a large amount of money. I have grown up and learned from this past mistake, but now that I think back to it, was there a way for me to avoid these invoices? Since I didnt put any credit card number down, were these people still eligible to charge me? I searched around and I guess that there are some scams where they send you an ad that looks surprisingly close to an invoice, I am wondering if I fell for the same thing. I am just curious and want to know what my options are for dealing with situations like this. I plan on opening up my own business after college, and I heard that that scammers love to prey off new/small businesses. Any comments on any of this? moreVoting Question: is it safe to buy used apple macbook or should i buy a new dell, sony, or any other laptop?

I've read all about the new rules and I know the companies have to give you a reasonable amount of time to process the payment same day and if your due date falls on a weekend or holiday then it gets pushed to the next business day, but I can't find anything stating if it's legal for the company to charge a fee for a payment scheduled same day. It seems counter-intuitive to the new rule if you have to pay a fee to do it, but we have all seen what has happened from the new regulations. moreResolved Question: My fiance needs financial help?
My fiance and I have been engaged since last July. He lives 2 hours away, and lives with a relative of his. Anyway... Recently, his relative who owns the house, has invited 2, (maybe 3) other people to live with them. 4 grown people sharing a small house with one bathroom and maybe 3 bedrooms could be quite.. uncomfortable. In addition to that, they started out with 3 dogs, and the new people brought 4 more, so there's also 7 dogs there as well. My family is already hard on him, because we met online and there's an age difference between us. If they found out about his, it wouldn't help either of us at all. Last year, he lost his job as a manager at a bar&grille because it went out of business. The relative he lives with was the owner. He was on unemployment for a little while, and now has the fortune to be working full time at Giant. However, he has to be working at least 45 hours to pay his bills. It seems to me, that he's the only one there that has a job, and he can't afford to pay ALL of the bills by himself. If the others are paying rent, she's not using the money for bills. His credit card bill is going up, and he can't afford to pay it back, because he has to spend his pay checks on the bills that he shouldn't have to be paying on his own to begin with. He's trying to find another, higher paying job, but obviously, that's not an easy thing to do. He wants to get out of that place, but he can't afford to move. His relative won't give him his W2 so he can't do his taxes, apparently because she owes them money. He's convinced that eventually, he's going to be so far into debt, he won't have a place to live, or a car to drive, or a way for us to keep in contact, much less marry. And, if his relative won't give him his W2, he can't do his taxes, and he might have to go to jail. I work part time as a local grocery store. I just bought my first car, and I'm spending most of my own money on my insurance and phone bill, and gas. I want to help him, but I can't, and he won't let me. I suggested declaring bankruptcy, if he had to, and he said that that would destroy his credit, and he won't be able to get anything anyway. Is there anything at all that I can do to help him get passed this? It is extremely difficult thinking that eventually I won't be able to contact him for an indeterminable time. They were all resolved (except for one), it was the 7th day, and after that she did not pay I filed a report...which is noted by eBay. Last May, Obama signed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009. “We're not going to give people a free pass, and we expect consumers to live within their means and pay what they owe, but we also expect financial institutions to act with the same sense of responsibility that the American people aspire to in their own lives,” he said. When the bill went into effect earlier this week Obama said, ""These new rules don't absolve consumers of their obligation to pay their bills, but they finally level the playing field so that every family and small business using a credit card has the information they need to make responsible financial decisions," Obama said. Surprise, surprise, surprise....... NEW CREDIT CARD LAW RIFE WITH LOOPHOLES BEWARE: Hidden and deceptive fees are still lurking around the corner As new rules to protect credit card holders from predatory practices went into effect on Monday, issuing banks warned that the regulations would result in higher interest rates and less access to credit. You've heard a lot about the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009, which took effect on Monday. The new law requires credit card companies to treat their customers more fairly, and that's clearly a victory for consumers. But even with the new law, there are still many ways you could end up paying more than you should for your charge cards. Can you imagine how shocked our elected government officials were when they learned that there were loopholes in this bill? My, my, my.........I can absolutely understand how this could happen though. I can't stand magazines like FHM, Maxim, Nuts and Zoo. They're full of bad puns, smutty pictures, biased writing (don't get me wrong, I'm a man & appreciate the femal form, just not in my face like that!) & just general idiocracy. Doesn't have to be a uniquely "for-men" mag, I am just assuming some of the below doesn't appeal to most women. I want an intelligently written magazine, for men (or women) with half a brain who dont think with their pants ALL the time, preferrably with articles on the following: Engineering breakthroughs (Hadron Collider, new cars, space projects, etc) Business talk (new companies, advice on running etc) Financial Advice (choosing a credit card, help with a mortgage) A few funny articles (not smutty) Current events (& infographics to help understanding) Interviews with interesting people who have achieved something worthwhile (not fake celebs). DIY mini-projects (woodwork, electronics, other) Advice for building or maintaining things around the home or otherwise (cars, plumbing, electrical) Wellbeing (positive thinking, diets, relationships) Can someone suggest a mag (or two) that would cover all of this? moreResolved Question: How do I take Faxed Credit Card Payments?

Low and behold I lost my crappy job in November, Got drunk on the job. Yes alcoholic. However, I always found a way to get money to get booze. A few years ago I had an incident where I totally got thrown into confusion all day. I took all the strong prescription pills, that in the past would chill me right out, but this time around, it was like a placebo. Only thing to give me energy was drinking. Not everyday, but about 3 times a week. I talked to a counsellor 6 months ago, and I told her, I would never steal for alcohol (this was while I was working of course). So when my parents go out, I sneak around lookin for cash. All I needed was an extra five to get a six pack, however I came across $100 in american money (im canadian), and I spent it all on alcohol. A month goes by, I get desperate again, I was looking for my moms sleeping pills, but I come across her bank card, and I know the pin number. So I end up going on a 2 day bender costing 400 bucks (not just me but 3 other people too). Parents find out, are totally pissed, told me how they were going to call the cops, but didn't. The other week, I actually grabbed a 40 pounder of canadian club whiskey and just blatently walked out the door. The guy isn't allowed to chase me, and I always paid cash there. Now today, I had only drank 3 times in the last 2 months. Pretty good right. However I start sneaking around my parents stuff. Going into the computer room, going into their walk in closet, going through their drawers (where i found the american money) and I couldn't find anything. So I find 2 credit cards in my moms little purse. I know I could walk into a liquor store and buy stuff with it, however my mom would notice that on her bill. so just tried to take money out from the bank. It didn't work. So i walked 5 mins back home. I was like fine, I won't get booze, and I'm not stealing a 40 pounder (because my dad found out and was so dissapointed). But I am a sneaky guy. I know places to look. So I look under my parents matress, and find some of my sleeping pills there. So i just take 2, so my mom won't notice. Than i goto her bedside and I start flipping pages in her novels and self help books, because I know people hide money in there. Well I found nothing. So I go back into the walk in closet, and there's a pile of books. And i keep flippin through them, I found a business card. Than I grab the second to last book, flip through it. There's 40 bucks sittin there. LIKE WTF, I have never done this before. So i just take a 20, and get someone to by me beer at the beerstore that i stole from. I didn't want to be seen. I feel sooo guilty the next few days, I replay it all, and I feel absolutely disgusting, because I grew up in a nice family, and had the world at my fingertips. I feel ashamed (as I should) and guilty because I have dishonored my parents, yet I've done this like 4 times. Than there is all my grandma's gold necklaces and pendats, pearl necklaces, bracelets, the whole nine yards sittin in my parents drawer.......however I will never do that, because I had to pick my dead grandma up off the ground, and see her tiny little body dead. But where does it end? This is all within a half a year. Prior to that I might have taken 5 bucks from my parents. And yes, I have mental illnesses and all the rest. I am totally christian, and believe that what you steal you pay back 10 times in return. The Big Question is, is there room in heaven for someone like me when I die? Jesus died for my sins, and I know that, yet it doesn't give me a free ticket to sin. So what's your verdict? and btw, this is totally true. not a word of a lie, I am actually typing from Vancouver, winter olympics. Do I go to church? Do i go ask my psych for new presription drugs? do I goto an alcohol rehabilitaion. I want to make my dad proud. If he dies before I accomplish something, I will die too. They know I stole $400 from them, They know I stole a 40 pounder from the store, they know that I have sold stuff on craigslist just to get alcohol. And yes I am putting my parents through hell. My mom has 3 types of arthritis. 2 plastic hips, a carbon fibre thigh bone. Broken toes and pins nailed into them to make them straight. My dad drink 8 beers a night. But he also goes to work everyday, and makes over 75K a year. So he is functioning. I am not functioning. moreResolved Question: The primary objective of financial accounting is to?

I went to the bank a while back to open a checking account. They ran my credit and i was denied. I didn't know how to read it at the time but she showed me there was about 395,000 in tax leins. That's why I was denied. She was nice enough to let me take the report with me. Since then I have gotten pretty much everything straightened out. My credit score was 628 on that day. This is everything else: Score on day 1- 628. had almost $400,000 in bogus liens removed. Next I noticed there was a $33,000 bank of america credit card account charged off. This was a bogus charge as well. It stated that the account was opened in 1994. I was 12 years old. Got that removed. There are 2 credit card accounts that were charged off. They were for $1600, & $440. These have been paid and marked as "paid charge off" The last one which i have not finished paying for is a 2900 credit card that was charged off. I've got it down to about 1200 and contemplating paying it off in the next month or so. After having the liens and 33000 credit card removed; and paying the last credit card off how much do you guys think my score will change? There's really nothing else on the report other than the odd checking acct here and there. I just started my own business and opened a new personal checking & business account (about 8 mo ago). I also just applied for personal and business credit cards. I know using these and paying them properly will raise my score I have signed up with my bank to see all three reports as of this morning but it'll be a day or two before I can access it:)would it be wise to inquire with my bank about securing a loan to pay off the remaining credit card? I am having difficulty when filling out on-line or off-line job application forms when they ask questions like 'Brief description of your main duties, responsibilities, and knowledge gained with emphasis on the areas most relevant to the job applied for? I usually write my job description and duties, responsibilities here is an example of 1 I done recently:- Duties involved receiving and validating business broadband contracts on a daily basis in the provisioning department. This involved processing customers details in an accurate manner from address verifying to correct products selected. I was responsible to complete 25 recorders per day which I achieved successfully with help and support. I regularly worked with account managers, planners, designers, engineers to allocate work loads, equipment, cable names, materials required for installation on customer premises. I was responsible to notify all parties through email of orders on the system. I achieved this by keeping a record of contact who were involved with each project occasionally phone my colleagues for urgent updates. Also, involved was chasing up delays on customer orders. This involved searching and finding historical notes and also contacting relevant parties involved. I had responsibility to inform the customer through phone and email of delays and provide new dates and times when installs will take place. I achieved this by keeping calm under pressure and giving honest feedback to customer with reassuring them of their orders. At various times I dealt with large workloads of contracts and customer requests. I had responsibility to work beyond my normal means in order to achieve these requests. I achieved this by planning and organising my workload in a set manner ensuring that I met customer requirement date. CUSTOMER SERVICES ADVISOR Dealing with credit card clients on a daily basis receiving inbound calls from members of the public to make payments, credit limit increases, pin requests and dealing with complaints using the company procedures. I also had to cross sell products on balance transfers, credit card cheques. I was responsible to ensure my customers were happy by filling out a customer survey at times. I was successful in this role and was able to meet the call quality and quantity targets by keeping a positive attitude and ongoing learning from myself and my team colleagues. Please read this in full and respond with appropriate answers only to all questions listed. Do not list false websites or you will be reported! I want to first say that I am 25 years old and back in 2004-2005 I went thru some credit problems. I have not had any credit since and have no credit debt and it has been paid off for almost 2 years all accounts are closed. I have 3 negative accounts that will come off my reports by late 2012. I would like to start rebuilding my credit. I have recently been rejected by bank of America for a regular card which they talked me into applying for and a secured card so I have 2 inquires as of January 2010 from them. One inquiry in February 2010 from applying for a NON SECURED Capital One card with a $39 annual fee and have been approved will be receiving next week but after many reviews of the company they seem to have deceiving business practices, raising the APR rates and instead of putting for example $300 as you credit limit they put instead what you charge which would hurt my utilization on my credit scores. If you try to close the account they add fraudgelant charges to your account etc. Their customer service is from India and is not good. Is this true? I read this on yahoo answers and my 3 cents complaints. If so should I try for a US bank SECURED card with $300 down with a $35 annual fee? The credit union out here does not offer secured credit cards. If I can not receive a secured card from US Bank should I open up a 1-2 year $1,500 secured CD with my bank which is Harris bank to show an installment loan? I have 2 charge offs and a credit card account with a couple 90 day late payments which is CLOSED also. I have 5 accounts in good standing but are closed and were never used. How much will my credit scores go up from 1-2 years from now? Currently before all new inquires for 2010 my FICO scores were TU: 597 Equifax: 648. I will only be using 7% of my limit of $300 instead of under 30%. Refer to my other question on here from the other day for more details on my credit situation titled “How to rebuild credit with different types of credit and my scores quickly?” Thank you. – 10 points for best answer -I already know alot about credit from research online so do not tell me how to handle credit. Keep your debt to ration utilization under 30% but 7% or less is better because this is how you obtain a very high FICO score. Do not open alot of lines all at once and wait 6months-1 year. Do not close oldest accounts this affects the average age of credit. I know all of this.Always pay in full to avoid intrest charges and higher rates, never pay minimum payments. moreResolved Question: getting a feel for time?

I am pretty sure it will sell by summer, I hope. if we can sell it, then all our debts are paid and I can either resume business in a much smaller fshion or close it down and start anew in a new career that is less subject to economic fluctuations. my question is; we stopped making payments on our AMEX card about 5 months ago because we cant make the $3330 a month payment. there is a balance of $37K. does anyone have a feel for how quickly or what the timeline is for them to actually file suit locally? is there any strategy I can employ to get some more time? I just found, and not from my husband, that two weeks ago he wrote his ex wife a check for $8600 from his business account for remaining alimony($1000/mo.) and child support for two children ($1600/mo.) for three months only to have me have to go into my savings to pay the gas bill to keep it from getting turned off. He could not wait until his business received a wire in order to keep paying for business expenses and home expenses for himself and I to live and work. He also has been over the last month asking me if I would put business expenses on my credit cards, which now I feel like a fool. I currently don't have outside employment and have been helping him with his business: keeping paperwork organized and helping him to obtain several contracts to keep his business going. Not to mention that he has not offered to add me as an existing signer on his business account. He said he would not pay her remaining alimony payments because she did not pay over $5000 in bills (including electricity, water, etc.) in his name at the home that they were living in together when they were married. I know I will never be his top priority, because of his children. I knew this life would not be easy being married to a man who has been twice divorced with children from previous marriages, but what is fair to me his new wife? Should I worry that he would do something like this again if I were to have a child with him?He is only paying $350/mo to his 16 yr old he had with his first wife. Which he told me that he and his first wife agreed he did not to pay child support to her because when he and his first wife split up, he took custody of his son and his daughter stayed with her mother. moreResolved Question: Is this a good credit card to try and get?

My partner and I may decide to part ways and all assets would be going under my name. I will buy my partner out and we will part ways cleanly. Is there any legal papers i would have to file other than applying for a new EIN number, in order to make the company a sole proprietorship rather than a partnership? We are in Michigan and the only other form i know i would have to change over is our D.B.A. Those two papers were all we had to file in order to start the business ( other than bank account, credit cards, etc.). Are those the only 2 papers i would have to change or is there way more to it than that? Can anyone help me on this. I run a small business and currently been involved with a scam, as much as I give it the benefit of the doubt. The scammer is from New York and I am from Boston. He asked to purchase $3000 worth of products and I was dumb enough to believe the COD shipping method. I did ask for credit card number but he offered to pay by check. So i sent it, and the delivery person collected the check and mailed it to me. I received the check and deposited it in my bank but after a few days the check bounced and I tried to contact the person but he kept prolonging the situation with he is going to wire the money the next day or he has money in the account. What are the legal actions I can do to get my money back or possibly arrest this person. I mailed it to their home address or atleast i believe its their home address. Thank you and I will really appreciate anyone's help.the COD is cash on delivery. There's a new MLM business going around in our area. They have no license from the relevant authority because they claim that this MLM business is an e-commerce and needs no license from the government. They're sort of selling memberships, which includes a 0% interest and late charges free credit card (minimum limit $500, depending on the membership class) + life insurances worth $5000 + travel discounts. The ONE TIME membership fee for the lowest class is only $50. And on top of these, the members get to receive commissions + company royalties EVERY MONTH in terms of credit card repayment. So it's like they have free money of $500 every month just for a $50 one time investment provided that they are able to recruit 3 people at least into this scheme. They claim they don't need no license from our country because it's e-commerce. They originate from a neighboring country and has a license from there. But I wasn't convinced because they only showed us a scanned copy of it. So yeah, they said it's e-commerce in a way that all payments are done online. And they will receive their credit cards one month after joining to give them time to recruit members. So far, I don't know anyone in our area who has received theirs except for one guy who apparently is the one introducing this company to us. moreVoting Question: My husand bled my house dry taking all the equity from it to start new businesses.?

I am needing a little advice from mothers and maybe daughters as well. I am currently 25 and have lived on my own since I was 16. I currently live with my long term boyfriend (4 yrs) and my 5 yr old daughter. When I was 9, my parents suddenly divorced and my younger sister and I moved with my mom and her new (younger) boyfriend. To make a long story short...the rest of my childhood went to hell. My mother became addicted to crack, coke and pot, along with my stepdad. We moved every couple of months because they were always being evicted. I was forced to go to a new school up to 3 times in one school year. We often went without food and electricity, since they were too busy feeding their drug habit. At one time, when I was in 5th grade, they sold every one of our christmas gifts, the tv and microwave and claimed we were "robbed". It wasn't until I was older that I found out the truth. She also use to steal money from my sister and I. (as in birthday money and xmas money we received as gifts) I spent many years moving every several months, going without basic needs, getting teased at school for obviously being the poor kid and just dealing with hell. During this time, my dad lost his job at the factory he worked at for over 20yrs. Due to my mom leaving him with the house and the credit card debt, my dad lost the house and everything else he has. For several years he made ends meet working through a temp agency. We didn't see him much during that time. (every other weekend or so) Shortly before I entered 6th grade, my mother "gave" us up to my dad and her and her bf moved in with his mom. Fast forward a few years later and my mom and him got a place of their own and my sister went back to live with them, I refused. I was never close to my mom and wanted no parts of living with them. (they were also fairly abusive towards me) My dad eventually got an apt and that is where him and I lived until 2 months after I turned 16. At that time I got busted for sneaking out and my dad kicked me out on the spot. I was forced to go to my moms. It was like hell all over, except this time I worked a part time job. My money immediately was being stolen, no matter how well I hid it. Her boyfriend went back to his abusive ways. Within 2 month, I basically moved out and moved in with my b/f and his family. His mom knew my situation well. When I was a senior in HS, my mom and him were raided by the Fed's and eventually sent to federal prison. My mom spend 4 yrs locked up several thousand miles away. By the time my mom was released, I was almost 22, had already had my daughter and was living my life. I made an attempt to restore a relationship with her. Almost as if acting like stuff never happened. This past year, her and my father rekindled their relationship and got remarried. My father works non stop to support her, as she doesn't work. (he is now 60, she is 45) My dad is back in the credit card debt that he spent 15 yrs getting rid of. My issue is that my mom drives me absolutely nuts. She calls me and if I do no answer she will call all of my phones nonstop until I answer. (and I mean nonstop, like dozens and dozens of times) She threatens to come by if I don't answer the phone. She stays in my business non stop. If she feels like me and my partner are fighting, she wants to get in on it and threatens to call him and give him a piece of her mind or threatens to come by the house. SHe doesn't get that I am an adult, about to turn 26 and that she needs to but out. All of the years I tried to forgive her for what she did...are gone. I find myself resenting her more and more daily. I'm angry she has brought my dad down again. I'm angry that she can't stay out of my personal life. I'm angry that she ruined my childhood. She also does petty stuff. For instance, on a holiday when daycare and school is closed and I have to work and I ask her to keep my daughter...it leads to a whole list of stuff she expects from me. Because to her she is doing a huge favor by keeping my daughter. It makes me not even want to turn to her because I know it will be more of a headache for me. She gets an attitude when she realizes I don't answer my phone just because I don't want to talk. She gets pissed that when I do finally answer (after she has called a million times) I have an attitude. The point is, am I past being able to forgive her, and does she even deserve to be forgiven? She wasn't my mother growing up and now 25 yrs into it, she wants to suddenly become involved? This is what I wanted when I was a child, not while I am an adult. How can I talk to her without her getting her usual attitude and then turning my dad against me like she is so good at. Do I just slowly shut her out?Yes my mom is drug free, this I am sure of. (she just recently got off of probation, so she was randomly drug checked often while under probation) She did at one point ask for forgiveness, but it seems irrelevent now, due to her current behavior. My b/f does not like my mom at all. He sees her as toxic and feels sorry for my dad. My dad was single the entire time they were apart, so it's like he took her back just so he wouldn't be alone. My dad is also the heir to a very large inheritance that he will get when my grandmother dies. My mom will now also share that. My b/f also thinks my mom hasn't changed at all since I was a child. moreResolved Question: Wednesday is Happy Hump Day (middle of the week). Does anyone have any good jokes to hellp us celebrate?

I have about 10K in credit card debt. I have only recently acquired this debt. I have always had good credit and a stable income and have always paid off my cards in full every month. But I recently decided to start my own business, expecting to be able to stay afloat with my job until the business began to “pay for itself”. However, I was recently let go (AFTER I had invested the money into this business.) Its been a struggle to find a new job and in the meantime I've had to rely on my cards to pay for bills etc. I just got a new job, fortunately, and have worked it out that with cutting back everything but necessities, in 12 months I can pay off my cards. (By making more than the monthly payments each month) But I'm curious: Would it be better for my credit score to continue paying off my debt each month or applying for a personal loan, paying off the debt with that and then making the payments for the loan? (BTW: The loan has a lower interest rate) Thanks for your help in advance! Best Wishes!I never said I was an "employee" of said business investment...remember, I was laid off from my last "job"? And furthermore, I didn't invest an entire 10k on the business...and my debt doesn't even total 10k. (the business is legit, btw) But lets not get hung up on the details of how or why I'm in debt...remember, this is my first time in debt and I've wised up enough not to do it again. PS, now that I am making money again, I am no longer using the card. O and I wasn't planning on getting a loan for 10K, probably closer to 5K. moreResolved Question: is there such thing as a secured business credit card?

Okay I'm a proud born and bred West Aucklander and I am getting sooo sick of looking at all these answers that my very own kiwi companions say about Auckland. Everything is always "don't go to Auckland", "Auckland is not what New Zealand is all about", "Auckland is ugly" etc. I don't get it. Have you's actually been to Auckland before? And have you explored all areas of Auckland besides the inner city? Because if you have then I'm sure you would realise that Auckland is gorgeous. Theres Auckland City Centre, West, North Shore, East and South and they all have different things to offer. Auckland inner city has establishments for business buildings, educational buildings, restaurants and is a cosmopolitan area. Waiheke is apart of Auckland and has amazing beaches and wineries. Then there's North Shore which is not really my taste in things as theres alot of snobby rich kids and high class crap, but nice beaches n shopping. South Auckland which has the crime, Rainbowsend, Malls, Spookers, auckland botanic gardens. East is an urban area, great family communities and then there's West Auckland. West has Waitakere Ranges (great for hiking, views, waterfalls etc), Rugged west coast beaches (Piha, Muriwai), Chilled out people, great atmosphere, Titirangi Village (Great cafe's n restaurants), boy racers, wildlife etc. It's just annoying because whenever someone mentions Auckland, they think of tall buildings, shit air, jaffas etc. But Auckland is much more then that. And what is up with hating on the people too??We are soo laid back, have less racism than the south island, multicultural city. We come here for the jobs and great lifestyle and diversity, so stop putting us down, were all kiwi's, what makes us different? Because we live in Auckland? SO!? If you are to pinpoint on any type of Aucklander's, then do it to the snobby people of Auckland that are generally over in the North Shore and New Market. Their the people that don't smile, don't say hi, walk around with daddys credit card. Sooo please stop presuming were all like that. I just needed to express myself. Also I want to know what it is that you Kiwi's that don't live in Auckland hate about Auckland so much and the people? Also if you've been to places outside of the inner city?Well Slugger onions its obvious that you found it unfriendly, trashy blah blah due to the fact that you seem like someone that would piss alot of people off. Of corse anyone would be unfriendly to you, what a negative and horrible person you are. If you paid attention to what I wrote above I was listing good and bad things about all the areas, not just West Auckland, I did that as to not be biased, duhhh! And if you found it boring, well then "life is what you make of it", im guessing your not really an interesting person anyway. You were probably one of those people that sit at your computer writing negative shit and not venturing outside. If you did then you would notice that theres heaps to do in Auckland. I kinda feel sorry for you moreResolved Question: Credit scores burearu pull questions and secured credit card points?
The whole credit scoring system is very confusing to me. I have read and researched that FICO scores from TransUnion and Equifax are supposed to be the most used by major lenders for auto loans and mortages for homes that are real scores. This is compared to third party companies that offer free scores called FAKO not real FICO's like Identity guard which I used last year. Experian and TransUnion supposly have FAKO scores as they use Vantage Score. But what is not explained is what insurance companies, business that you want to rent an apartment from, cell phone companies and credit grantors use etc.... For example I got Verizon cell service in 2007. I was going to move out in late 2008 and the apartment place ran my credit using TransUnion. A credit card company denied me credit card using Experian. My bank used Innvois a 4th new credit bureau to approve me for a checking account. So what scoring system used in these cases? As Experian does not have FICO and all others are FAKOs. I want to build my credit up using a secured credit card but want to check accurate scores to see where I am at before I get the secured card. Then check my scores next year. Also how much will my scores go up when all my negitive items come off my reports by 2013? Thats the 7 year period for credit debt / charge offs. Did anyone get a $300 credit card charge 30% or less per month for atleast a year and see their credit improve? If so how many points? http://www.creditscoring.com/creditscore/other/plus/fake-o-fico-funk.htmlSecured credit card is going to be from Bank Of America. I confirmed with them they do report to all 3 main bureaus but as secured. After a year it becomes unsecured. He may not but I expect he'll try to get every penny out of me he can. I assume he'll forget the times over the years I purchased them items such as a new roof, new garage etc.. Regardless, my daughter cheated on him, he caught her and now I'm in the middle and I don't know what to do. I'm being told the judge will grant her the home. Any help? Category Family & Relationships > Marriage & Divorce moreResolved Question: Adding a family member with bad credit on my credit card - will it hurt my credit?
My sister recently filed bankruptcy, due to high credit card debt. The credit card debt was due to a business that she started with her ex-boyfriend who defrauded her, so she was stuck with tremendous amount of credit card debt in her name. But now that bankruptcy proceeding is all over and she's looking to raise her credit score, I am thinking of adding her to my credit card account as a joint account holder, which I hear will boost her credit quicker than other options. But I am worried, since I have a 700+ credit score, will adding her hurt my credit? Also, what is the best way to ensure she can be a joint account holder? Do I have to apply for a new credit card or can I add her to an existing card? I believe adding her as an "authorized user" is different than a "joint account holder"? Am I correct? moreTop New Business Credit Cards Links
