In order to complete this task Murtland had to work cooperatively with the church, local businesses and others who donated funds and materials, and his fellow scouts. Murtland explained that the project took about six months start to finish and was "a lot of work," but he added that he found it rewarding. "I learned a lot about how to deal with businesses and business owners," Murtland said. "I had a lot of help from them and the guys in my troop getting this thing in." In recognition of his hard work Murtland received a citation Monday from state Rep. Tina Pickett on behalf of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

It's mid-hurricane season where I live, and my thoughts have been turning (as they so often do) to disaster recovery for small business. We should all have learned by now that even a comprehensive backup can be inadequate if it's stored in a filing cabinet in the front office. About 1970 Craig bought a stake in Body Contour, a diet and fitness center, and expanded the business with a site in New Orleans. There he met his future wife.

She became the company's national director of operations before they married in 1979.

The couple sold their interest in Body Contour in 1982. It had grown to include 200 centers in the U.S. The following year they opened their first Jenny Craig center in Melbourne, Australia, and expanded to the U.S. market in 1985. The company went public in 1991. The Craigs sold their business to Nestle in 2006 for a reported $600 million. At the time of the sale, more than 4 million dieters had signed up for their program, according to the company.

I recently obtained a virus/trojan named Malware defense and it claims to be a virus protection software when in reality it is the virus itself and it pops up bogus warnings and claims my computer is under attack and then asks for you guessed it, my credit card number. I have tried downloading free software to remove the virus and again they themselves want oddly the same amount of money and your credit card number.. This really makes me wonder if the programmers who create to protect people also themselves create programs to destroy computers as a way to bring in Business. Resolved Question: How do you capture an image of your screen when your PrtSc button doesn't work?

My laptop is a very old model Gateway which fails to compensate with my orders. When I go to the iTunes store, it won't let me. If I try going on Yahoo! Messenger, it won't work. If I want to go on Skype, that won't work either. All in all, nothing works on my laptop. I am now trying to make a business card, but the software will not let me save without paying a ridiculously expensive membership fee. I've tried capturing a picture of it using the PrtSc button and pasting it into Paint, but it won't let me. Does anyone know a website that offers a (free) software that simply crops the image on the laptop screen without having to use the PrtSc button? Much appreciated. more

So...I can't believe that I fell in this trap but I did...so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older...so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them...and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway...right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I'm worried about my credit card...I'll have to watch it carefully! So...be careful out there...all these internet money making websites are scam! I apologize for the length of this but i hope you take the time to read and give a genuine opinion. I am really at a loss here and not sure what to do. i believe my future depends on this. i really need this job, its perfect....but i am just...not...sure....i will try to make this short and easy to read: I spoke with a lady recently from yahoo chat. I was in a room and we were all talking about working from home and i mentioned in the room that i was looking to work from home. She sends me a message and asks me to view a link. The link was of a printer, a printer that is capable of printing checks. She asks me if i want to be her employee and, after a while of talking she tells me that i will be printing payroll checks for customers and sending them off via UPS next day air. She said she has ordered the printer for me and it is already on its way to my house. She showed me (in text) a copy of the UPS shipping report. Anyhow, the next thing she asked me to do and keeps asking me to do is get 100 - 200 UPS next day air shipping labels and the envelopes that go with it. She told me i could go to a UPS store and get about 10 - 20 of them and then go to another store and so on.....well, i went to the only local store within 30 miles and she only had 5...she kind of looked at me like i was crazy and was asking questions.... The ups lady asked me "whats the company name?" Thats when i realized something is up. after a few days of talking to the lady from the chatroom, she never told me the company name. ups lady asked me if i had a UPS account, and repeated that i MUST have a UPS account in order to get that many supplies in that amount. i basically told her the story here and she called her supervisor. he came down and told me he would have a sales rep call me. welll, the sales rep called me and basically said that i have to have an account (UPS accounts require a credit card, and i do not have one.) I told the lady from the chatroom about this and she said "I have always gotten them free, i have never needed to give a company name or UPS account number" she basically danced around the questions: "what is the company name?" "what is YOUR UPS account number?" "Won't i need the company name//UPS account information anyways to ship out these checks??" "What about the w-4?" "how can i file my taxes next year if i dont have all this information?" in the end she told me the company name was named after her since she started the business. she said the w4 would have to wait until she expanded bigger she gave me an invalid UPS account number registered to someone in amarillo. I have not brought the last part up to her yet because she just keeps telling me to go to the UPS offices and get these ASD's and envelopes, i kept telling her they wont let me do it without an account number. i am just going to wait and see if the printer actually arrives before i start doing anything major. as far as she told me, i would be paid once a month $1000 after taxes She has not sent any software for me to view and she has not said anything about any type of training....i figured we could use this time to train me on the materials...... I wanted to speak with her or call her and she said she was in paris for a conference meeting.... i told her that yahoo has a calling feature and she said her computer does not support audio and she does not have a webcam. she said she is from Fresno California. please e-mail me with any questions you might have or know of someone that also does this for a living or if you know for sure its a scam. Hello, I'm in the process of establishing a software-based research firm whose target market mainly consists of corporate clients. I'm having a design company create my corporate branding and identity. The initial concepts are of the letterhead and business card. There are elements I like of with all. *Set 1: I like the 1st in that it adds an accent color to my image. Between my logo and current colors of my site, it's heavily blue and heavily gray. So, I think the goldish color adds a unique touch that can make me more easily identifiable. BUT, I'm unsure if it's too bold? Will it take away from my professional image w/ corporate clients? *Set 2: This set seems more traditional and corporate-friendly. It incorporates my grays well and such, and seems to be a safer bet. *Set 3: This is a very clean, minimalist look that also seems to be a safe bet. I went to the Apple Store 3 weeks ago. I gave them my credit card and I bought an iMac. My receipt shows the correct credit card number. I also received a receipt by e-mail. I have registered the computer and software with Apple. I went back to the store two days later and bought some software with the same card. I check my credit card every day for fraudulant charges. I've noticed the $2000 computer has not been charged, while the $20 software I bought 2 days later from the same store has been. What is my responsibility to make sure Apple Corporation charges me? Is it my duty to make sure they run their business responsibly? If I wrote a check to a business, and they don't cash it, am I supposed to find them to write another check? I know that when I get checks for refunds or work I've done they will never ensure I cash that check. I know what I'll do, but I'm asking more of a business question than an "Ethics" question. more
