The service I provided to the community during this time has been honored with numerous awards, including Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, CalFire Partnership Award and Humboldt County Sheriff's Award of Excellence. The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors also recognized my work for the community during the catastrophic wildfires of 2003. As supervisor I will build on that experience and bring those same commitments to my job.

One of the biggest tasks facing the Board of Supervisors, aside from dealing with state budget cuts, is the lack of trust between citizens and county government. I will work hard to restore that trust by insisting that all concerns are addressed in a meaningful and open manner.

I will oppose spending taxpayers' hard-earned money on ill-advised litigation like the failed Tooby Ranch lawsuit, which expended countless hours of staff time and millions of dollars in lawyer's fees while disrupting property owners' lives and dreams. more

"Foreign tourists are not back in big numbers, but business travel is currently supporting us," he said.

Players in the sector said the occupancy was mainly driven by business and conference tourism which are slowly regaining strength. more
