Repeat Business Systems buys competitor

Repeat Business Systems Inc. of Albany, which sells and services office equipment and offers network and IT services, has acquired business equipment provider Central Business Solutions Inc. of Clifton Park.

With the acquisition, Repeat Business Systems will grow from 27 to 44 employees, with projected sales in excess of $10 million, said co-owners John and Dawn Abbuhl.

John Wisniewski, president of Central Business Solutions since 2007, will remain with the company.

Each company has customers in and around the Capital Region. Central Business Solutions also serves customers in southern Vermont and Massachusetts.

Repeat Business used a recent SBA loan--through M&T Bank--and loans from the New York Business Development Corp. more

Federal small-business programs neglected

Small businesses in St. Johns County, major components of the local economy, are overwhelmingly not taking advantage of federal assistance programs readily available from the Small Business Administration, said John Doriety, a business development specialist with the SBA branch in Jacksonville.

Speaking to members of the St. Johns County Civic Association Roundtable during their July 14 meeting, Doriety explained the role the SBA plays in the development and prosperity of small businesses, particularly those that are interested in selling products or services to the federal government through competitive contracts.

"Right now, I only have two companies in St. Johns County who can go in there and get a piece of that contract pie," he said, referring to the category of small businesses that qualify for the SBA’s programs. more

I recently obtained a virus/trojan named Malware defense and it claims to be a virus protection software when in reality it is the virus itself and it pops up bogus warnings and claims my computer is under attack and then asks for you guessed it, my credit card number. I have tried downloading free software to remove the virus and again they themselves want oddly the same amount of money and your credit card number.. This really makes me wonder if the programmers who create to protect people also themselves create programs to destroy computers as a way to bring in Business. I am building my very first website using the Website Tonight program that Go Daddy offers, and I would like to copy a header I've seen on another site powered by Go Daddy. This website uses the same template as mine, so I know it's possible, I just don't know how to recreate it. NAFTA passed during Bush Sr.’s term was meant to only open free trading with Canada and Mexico. It was increased to include the entire world during Clinton’s term. Doesn’t this kind of mean that we just reinvented slavery only out sourced to other countries? Resolved Question: Are there any services out there where I can create my own website for free? I don't want to spend money.?

I'm starting up a business at home creating unique and customized wedding invitations, wedding accessories (thank you notes, place cards, programs, etc.) and note cards (bridal showers, baby showers/baby gifts, birthdays, holidays, etc.) and want to get myself out there but I'm trying to not spend too much money, especially on a website for my work. I'm a graphic designer working since 1997 in the corporate world and am looking to take my design, photography and scrapbooking talents and combine it into one unique business I can do from home. Anyone can help with ideas to get started or know of someway to get a free website. Help is greatly apprecaited! more
