As short as possible: I purchased a custom made item from a seller (early February). I paid for it using my MC but processed it through Paypal. I waited an insanely long time to receive the item and once I finally got it (mid - may) it was incorrect. The business owner told me to return it and she would fix it. I returned the item less than 3 days later and she received it back. She inspected it, ADMITTED to making the item incorrectly and then proceeded to tell me she could offer me an equal replacement. The item I ordered was supposed to be traffic cone orange and the replacement she could offer was brick red. This was not acceptable. I asked her for a complete refund of the money I paid originally as well as the return shipped. She told me she would refund me via check. I told her since I paid on a credit card, I wanted it refunded back to my credit card, but she said she could send me a check. Twice, throughout June, she promised me a refund. In July, after her failure to produce a refund or return my calls/emails, I filed a dispute with the credit card company. Paypal cannot help me because this transaction is not covered under Buyer Protection for whatever reason. Now, the credit card company is telling me I have insufficient information available to obtain a refund. I have dozens of emails from this woman in writing with her admission she produced an incorrect item, and she would offer a refund. According to the credit card company since the emails do not have my name and account number and a total amount of refund due by the merchant, this is not valid terms for a dispute. So now, this seller 1200 miles away has the incorrect item AND my money and I'm being told there is absolutely nothing I can do to get my money back. The woman will not return calls or emails, all I got from Paypal the other day was something saying she "cancelled an invoice"... I don't know what that means, but I don't see any type of refund at all. So, what can I do? I cannot get the proper information from this business woman if she fails to respond to me, and I can't get my refund through the credit card, so I'm out a ton of money and this woman gets off scott free? I have a defective laptop battery that the tech support lady at Toshiba said would be replaced for free because it's under warranty. Her exact words were, "You will not be charged unless we do not receive the defective part within 15 business days, but you will need to provide your credit card information when you order the replacement so that we have it on hand in case we need to process a charge." I *told* her I didn't have enough money to buy a new battery, did she think I was lying? That I can pull the money out of a hat? I went online and ordered a replacement battery, using my credit card, just like she had said. It told me on the confirmation page that it was going to cost $161.30, but I figured Toshiba would cover that automatically because it's under warranty, OR that that would be the amount charged when and ONLY if I didn't return the defective part to them on time. It charged me immediately though. So I called the tech support line back, and the guy explained to me that they will refund the money once they receive the defective part back within the time period, but they will hold the money until then. I only had $17 in the bank to begin with, and my bank charges a $30 overdraft fee, so even when they refund the money I'll still be $13 under. Last night, I was in my car waiting at a red light when I was suddenly hit hard from behind by a Jeep. My Honda Accord's bumper was slightly caved in and there were scratches on the bumper. When I got out of the car, the driver of the car apologized profusely and admitted she was on her cell phone when the crash occurred. I told her I would have to call the police. She instead offered to have my car fixed free of charge as she works at a body shop. She showed me her license, registration and insurance of which I recorded the information. She gave me a business card as well. She also gave me her cell number (which worked as I tested it) and I recorded the plate number. I've never been in such a situation like this and I don't want any penalties to me as a result. I told her I would not notify her insurance if she fixes my car's bumper as promised. Hey there. I'm sorry, i Know this isn't a relationship question but I didnt get any responses in the business section. On Wed, April 21 around 5:30 pm in PA i made a hotel reservation. I gave them my credit card information and they said that a deposit of $120.56 would be applied. Turns out that they actually charged $265.56 by accident and when i went to use my card before i knew this it was denied since i didnt have much left on the card to begin with. when i called them, they told me that they had realized what they did and had already voided the transaction. the owner told me something about it would be back on my card in 24 hrs, but its still not there. should i give them a call or is it too early for it to be back on. this is causing a problem cuz i really needed that money and i cant use my card at all until it gets put back on. should i ask for a free nite at the hotel to compensate me for my inconvience or what? and how long should i wait for the money to be put back on? thanks moreResolved Question: Would left 4 dead 2 work on this computer?

My sister is having a 12th birthday party at well, the mall. And it's going to be like... following this: "For my daughter's thirteenth birthday she had a Mall Scavenger Hunt and a sleepover. We had to make sure that it was a party she would remember, since she was no longer a kid. INVITATIONS: For the invitations, she made Visa Credit cards on the computer, with the guest's name on the front, and all of the information on the back. She printed it onto gold cardstock (for thicker paper) and got them laminated. She put them into envelopes along with confetti, and mailed them. She invited 7 people, plus her is 8. DECORATIONS: My daughter's favorite colors - white/grey and black - created the main color scheme. We had streamers and balloons in all of the rooms the girls would be in, along with whited christmas lights. We also bought black and white plates utensils and cups along with a cake that had white and black icing. PARTY: After arrival the girls just hung out for a while and then we drove them over to the mall. My daughter made a list of items that were needed to be bought at the mall pictures to be taken free items to be collected and a Bonus section. She printed out that list along with the rules such as all team members must be in the pictures etc. All girls pulled a bandana out of a bag and went to their teams (we had 2 teams of 4.) Then they decided amongst themselves who would be the captain. The captain received a cheap purse from the dollar store which held $40, a camera, the list my daughter had made, and the rules. The they had 1 1/2 hours to buy items (such as a stuffed animal or a brown hair accessory), take pictures (such as modeling designer handbags and wearing green lipstick), and collect free items (such as a business card or napkin). Each of these things were worth a certain amount of points - Purchases = 3 pts each; Pictures = 2 pts each; Free Items = 1 pt each. We also gave them about 1 1/2 hours to shop for themselves if they weren't tired. The girls came home for pizza, cake, and opening of presents. While they were doing this my husband got the photos developed so we could tally up points. The winning team got to pick a bag first. In the bag were the items that the teams had bought. After those were all gone, the girls made t-shirts. We gave them each a white t-shirt and set out scissors, tacky glue, a stapler, fabric markers, glitter glue, and extra multi-colored fabric. Then after 30 minutes, they voted on their favorites. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places got a crown and a huge lollipop. Then the girls had free time and they all went outside to play kick the can. Then they came in at about 10:00 for movies. Downstairs we had set up a snack bar with popcorn soda and boxes of candy. The girls watched a few chick flicks them stayed up until about three talking and listening to music. In the morning, I made homemade waffles and let them add syrup powdered sugar fruit and whipped cream. They LOVED them. Then the girls played around outside until their parents came at 10:30. We gave the girls their goody bags then finally got our rest. The way the company works is they send out "talent scouts" (mostly kids aged 18-21 who are looking for a part-time job) to various malls, movie theaters, and events throughout New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey. These "scouts" are paid to stand at these locations!!!! AND they stop every single person they see who is with a child. They stop these people by saying something like "excuse me mam, your son is so cute he has such beautiful eyes, have you ever considered getting him into acting or modeling?". If you say no, they will continue to tell you how perfect your child is until you sign up. At this point when the person agrees to sign up, they fill out a card with just basic contact information. The card then gets sent to a call center where the person will now receive a phone call from a representative who will attempt to set you up with an appointment at their office in Edgewater. When you make the appointment you will show up at the office and meet with someone who is actually a salesperson and this person will try to sell you "marketing tools" which are photos of you and your child and a spot on the company's website which they say is looked at by various agency's. This is BS!!!!! They never provide you with you is looking at your site! This is the part that is the REAL SCAM....When you are initially stopped by the scout, if you ask the scout if there's any cost to sign up he/she will say "no it is entirely free". THIS IS A LIE!!!!! They will charge you anywhere from $500-$3,000 just to take pictures of your child to complete the portfolio. The thing is, many people fall into the trap and pay this crazy amount of money to Industry Model and Talent Studios and then.......THEY NEVER GET A CALL BACK, THEY GET NO WORK!!!!! I've been approved for disability. I know I am getting 16 months back pay, but three and a half months of that time was spent in both a psychiatric hospital, and a group home, so I was told I will only get $30 for those months. I need to know what else I should spend my back pay on that would be responsible? I'm also going to be getting a little under $750 a month and plan to give my mom $250 in rent. I also owe her a little bit of money from the back pay. All I can think of needing is a mattress, a small TV for my room and a CD player. What could be some other things to buy? I also know that I need to save all receipts. Also, I was told I will be getting my first check in a month and my mom will be my payee. My uncle got disability, and he blew all of his back pay without saving any receipts. He bought tattoos on his forearms, he bough whiskey, he bought junk cars and other things that are wasteful. I am in the process of owning my own online retail business. I've asked on yahoo answers about 3 times and keep getting treated as if I don't have a brain. That being said, what hosting site is the most reliable and offers the most services? I want to offer multiple ways for a customer to pay, such as paypal AND credit cards (some people don't know what paypal is... so please don't try convincing me to only use paypal). My sister got a new modem card for her computer which was not detecting a dial tone nor could AOL initiate the old modem. I told her to get a "dial up modem card" which some people in this "Q&A" site suggested. She got a brand new "V.92 modem" which the packaging says is for "Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me and 98SE." Our computer uses Windows XP. The modem card fits where the old modem card used to be, but I am not sure if it is the percise one to use. Nowhere on the packaging does it say it is a "Dial Up modem." It does not look exactly like the one it replaced. Contacting AOL either by phone or email only results in some information that the modem could be "corrupt." Also the AOL suggestions for fixing the problem only sends me round in circles. I also don't understand all the computer lingo that is used. What is "VGA"? What is "Serial Port"? What is "Window's Dialer"? What is "NetShell"? What is "ACS"? What are "Drivers"? I am quick to learn and have a knack for technology even though I get stuck at times, and I tend to have a good idea of what these words refer to and yet it seems that the AOL advice is in the assumption that the computer that I am trying to enable has all kinds of operating systems and programs and software and such that it actually does not have. Also AOL gives the advice to take the computer back to the store where it was bought for some repairs, but my sister bought the computer a few years back and the store is out-of-business and the computer was the kind that was put together in a random fashion with used parts. It actually worked very well up until recently. I probably will continue to seek advice here until I get things right with this computer that I am trying to get to detect a dial tone and go to the internet; or until I just decide to give up. I have found a website that sounds good, but I want to make sure that it is not a pyramid promotional scheme according to Texas Business and Commerce Code Sec. 17.461. It appears that the owner of the website is an affiliate with several merchants. It's free to join. There's no obligation to buy or sell anything. He says that it's basically a way to get a percentage of what you buy online and you get a percentage of what your referrals buy. You're not buying products necessarily to resale. The owner is also offering contests and bonuses to it's members to join and shop online. For instance, If you purchase something for $50, and have 10 referrals that purchases something for $50, then you will receive $5.00 bonus on top of the commission of making the purchase that you and your referrals make. Of what I see: it would not cost me anything to join, I could save money by shopping online, I could make money by referral friends and family, and I'm buying a product that I would use, not like I am being forced to buy it. The thing that has me concerned is: Is this a pyramid promotional scheme? If it is, I do not want to be a part of if because I do not want to try to get other people to participate in it. So...I can't believe that I fell in this trap but I did...so just to warn others. There are more posts related to this on Yahoo answers, but a little older...so I thought I would refresh the info. There are a lot of internet money making scams out there, but these people get better and better. They advertise on what it seems like legit websites, they say they will only charge you $1 for shipping fees and they put Google in their name to make it more credible. Anyway, after one pays the $1 then you can see if you look carefully on the bottom of the page, with very small letters, that they will charge you a membership fee of ~79 monthly. They never say anything about this before you pay. Below I pasted the e-mail confirmation I got from them...and it says something about a membership fee now, but still not how much it is. People apparently got charged the amount after 7 days without even knowing why. Anyway...right after I signed up for it I called the 1-800- number listed below and they cancelled my account. But still I'm worried about my credit card...I'll have to watch it carefully! So...be careful out there...all these internet money making websites are scam! I gave it to him, he then asked me to call me back in 5 minutes to tell me what exactly how much saving I will get compared to my current account. Five minutes later, he called me back, he has all my programming info already, he reiterated his offer by which I'll get free DVR, free HD programming for 6 months, free installations and with the same programming package I already have, I'll be saving five dollars of my monthly bill. I accepted the offer, sounds good so far! He told me the only way to get the offer is to set it up a new account, when I hesitated since I don't know the consequences on my existing programming or if there will be any interruption, he mentioned that nothing to worry and everything will go smooth. I said OK, then he asked for a credit card info, I questioned him on that, he said for setting up an account, they will typically put one ($1) on hold and will returned back within 1 business day. Since I remember that this was the procedure when I first setup my account, then I gave it to him. For example, when describing my analysis of competitive position, do I explain the comptetitive reasons why visitors will use my site, or why advertisers will want to purchase ads within the site? (or a little of both?) I want my business plan to be my road map and score card in achieving my goals, but I also realize that I may require it to one day to achieve finiancing, loans, investors etc. I want investors to know why the service will be so effective drawing in visitors as well as how much advertising and the types of advertisers I will be targeting; which is why I describe both the free service in the site and the advertising revenue potential. Should I focus on simply discussing the advertising as my product and leave the other information for other areas of the plan, or is it acceptable to describe the free information service as well in this capacity? I had a deposit error that i found and brought it to the banks attention the following morning and spoke to the teller then the banks manager and they looked into my account and told me that they don't see what the problem is because the money was in my account and that there was no way it could of been put in there without my knowledge, that mistakes like this don't just happen. i told them well the money isn't mine, i did not put it there, i have no knowledge of it and i do not even know where it came from. they looked closely at my account and did not have any specific information telling them where the money might have originated from. they even showed me the screen at what they were looking at. they told me they really did not understand what my problem was, that it was my account, there was nothing indicating anything otherwise, and that it was my money. feel free to do as i wish. i immediately left that branch and went to another location and went through the same exact thing. i then decided to wait some time a few weeks at least just to see if i might receive a call or letter by chance which i never did. now i had my own money of a couple thousand so i just spent as i did in my normal way. 6 months or so later i receive a message at work that the bank had called, however it was too late to return the call by then. i went home for the day, and shortly after arriving home i hear a knock at my door, so i answer it to find 2 gentleman at my door. one in which handed me a business card and saying he was the banks vice president and never introduced the other guy at all. and just started to tell me that an erroneous deposit was made into my account and that if i didnt pay this money back that i would be arrested and thrown in prison. my response was to him that this was something that happened well over 6 months ago and i inquired at 2 seperate branches of your bank about this and now after all this time you show up at my house telling me that your bank made a mistake and then threaten to have me arrested and thrown in prison if i didnt pay this money back. and he just left. at the time that all this took place, i started getting harrassing phone calls at work and home, my parents started receiving harrassing phone calls as well from the bank at hand, which i was well over legal age. i am going on 40 and this was lets say 10 years ago. i was being followed, pictures and video taken of every movement i made for months. wrote a check to my parents that the bank came 2 months later and took that money back from them. i finally spoke to a bank representative that was just a secretary, and was told that if i was willing to sign loan papers for my jeep cherokee laredo that i had at the time and pay that amount back, that they would drop everything and forgive the rest of the amount of money. my exact thought was who the hell does that, this smells awful fishy to me. now the thing is the loan amount i was asked to sign papers on was for $5,000 but the deposit error was for $22,500 they since seized my account shortly after this conversation, and any and all checks that i had written bounced because they seized my account without notifying me and closing it entirely, the catch is that they covered all costs that were incurred in bouncing a check, which was quite alot. didnt effect my credit at that point, yet i did have a judgement against me placed on my credit reports for not $22,500 but for $45,000 which has come off because of the time limit. this has totally screwed up my life and still dealing with crap. i know there is a statue of limitations, but still wondering what if anything can be done about this. i have all documentation of all transactions, letters, etc. which some contain completely false and misleading information, I NEED HELP... moreTop Free Information On Business Cards Links
