Johnson unsure on tax plan, criticizes mayor's law enforcement

Johnson, a former NBA All-Star turned entrepreneur and education advocate, did not say what parts of the city budget he would cut to give more money to law enforcement, though he did say he was not opposed to a tax that was properly structured.

Johnson and Fargo, who has been mayor since 2001, are in a Nov. 4 runoff for the mayoral position after neither got a majority of votes in the June 3 primary election.

Chief of Steelband in Nigeria - Bowie Sonnie Bowei receives

In addition to the 2008 school panorama, Sonnie Bowei, through Panland (pictured left), is currently focusing on organizing a 2009 steelband competition dubbed the "Forces Panorama" featuring the Nigerian military and paramilitary. Slated for August 2009, it will be undertaken in partnership with the Federal Ministries of Defence and Internal affairs in Nigeria. The panman's promotion of the steelband artform does not stop there. A panorama involving 36 states and the federal capital in Nigeria is also being planned for 2010 during the Abuja national carnival. Voting Question: I need your opinion on this laptop?

I need to get a good laptop, because I will be running programs like Maya, 3dMax, After Effects, basically a lot of web, animation and also software like fruity loops and Audition for music recording and auditing. Hi all. My names Seth. Just bought a new computer off ibuypower.com Its an awesome computer and i love it. I got it on my two weeks leave home. Im deployed in iraq right now. So ive had it for about 3 weeks now. Last night i got food poisoning and was really sick. Instead of shutting it down properly, i just opted to press the off button. Open starting it up this morning i discovered it runs very slow now. Like the startup is slow, and when i click on icons it opens them really slowly. I used msconfig to stop all progams from running on startup and thats not the problem. Voting Question: System restore does'nt work when i click the next button and i get the same result in safe mode. Why?

I recently obtained a virus/trojan named Malware defense and it claims to be a virus protection software when in reality it is the virus itself and it pops up bogus warnings and claims my computer is under attack and then asks for you guessed it, my credit card number. I have tried downloading free software to remove the virus and again they themselves want oddly the same amount of money and your credit card number.. This really makes me wonder if the programmers who create to protect people also themselves create programs to destroy computers as a way to bring in Business. Im telling you this because i don't want you to think im cheap and am only looking to find a cheap way to solve my computer hassle's, this is not the case its because i not only want to save money i also truly believe most computer problems are started and most viruses are created by those who offer services to remove them. Just seems to perfect for this not to be the case so now that you understand my frustration and hate for protection software please do not offer me a way to remove and solve this problem via anything involving a purchase only completely free answers i will read. And ultimately i may have to do a full re format in a worst case scenario because we all know that not even the strongest virus can live threw a re format. more

Resolved Question: How can I build a header for my website that I can use with the Website Tonight program from GoDaddy?

I am building my very first website using the Website Tonight program that Go Daddy offers, and I would like to copy a header I've seen on another site powered by Go Daddy. This website uses the same template as mine, so I know it's possible, I just don't know how to recreate it. I read the following article published in the malaysian Star paper:- Is this what the Africans and Nigerians doing now in Malaysia? KUALA LUMPUR: The Black Money scam, also known as the Nigerian 419 scam, was reported by Interpol to have surfaced in Malaysia in 1998. (419 refers to a section of a Nigerian law that deals with fraud.) Most of these con artists enter the country on a social visit pass which allows them to stay up to 30 days. They tend to enrol in local colleges, some even reputable ones, just to obtain student visas so that they could extend their stay here. These so-called students are believed to pay off college staff to mark their attendance. They would then send out random emails and SMS, promising huge piles of money. Usually a “processing fee” is required in advance from their targets. In some of the cases, the victim lost big amounts of money without realising it until the fraudster goes missing. They are such smooth operators that a number of victims took loans from Ah Longs to pay them. In the Black Money scam, victims are told about a stash of bank notes which had been dyed black to avoid Customs detection. The money was supposedly kept in a safe somewhere and the victim should purchase a type of chemical to wash off the dye which would then unveil “genuine” US dollars. The victim would be promised a share of the money. The supposed origin of the riches varied with each new victim. The most popular version is that the money is the lost fortunes of former Nigerian dictator General Abacha which need to be transported out of Nigeria without the Customs knowing it. Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Koh Hong Sun said the con men, upon meeting their target, would produce a small vial of washing liquid called “Universal Automatic Washer” and ask the victim to select any black bank note at random. The black banknote would be washed but with a sleight of hand,the con man would substitute it with a real note. Victims are given the “washed” bank notes and are encouraged to verify their authenticity at a money changer. “They would ask the victim to buy the chemical in order to process more money and that the costs of the chemicals are very high,” he said. These con artists modus operandi of “layering,” where a different person is sent to each meeting with the victim. According to sources, places like Puchong Prima, a hotel in Ampang and several areas in Kepong are regular meeting spots for such transactions. Using laptops along with a special software, the con men are also able to forge government documents. Comm Koh, who confirmed this, said that raids on the “students’ residence” found no textbooks but merely computers and laptops. In a raid conducted by the police recently, police arrested 29 Nigerians at their office at Metro Prima in Kepong. All those arrested claimed that they were undergraduates in the Klang Valley, showing their student cards instead of passports. A check by The Star showed that some colleges here had about 70% African students. These places provide hassle-free enrolment for foreign students who pay application fees ranging from US$170 to US$330. Investigations also revealed that these so- called students did not have a clear financial source, yet they had no problems paying tuition fees and sending money home to their countries. In fact, some of them live in posh condominiums and drive luxury cars like the BMW X5. They are also known to use local women to carry out their deception, targeting single mothers or college students and using their bank accounts to conduct their shady business. Some of them, when caught by police, would falsely claim to be Muslims and recite verses from the Quran to gain sympathy, said sources. Most of these con artists are deported to their home countries as authorities usually lack evidence to charge them. However, a number of them would return to Malaysia under different passports. Resolved Question: MORE INFORMATION FROM COMPUTER SAVVY PEOPLE PLESE?

My sister got a new modem card for her computer which was not detecting a dial tone nor could AOL initiate the old modem. I told her to get a "dial up modem card" which some people in this "Q&A" site suggested. She got a brand new "V.92 modem" which the packaging says is for "Windows Vista, XP, 2000, Me and 98SE." Our computer uses Windows XP. The modem card fits where the old modem card used to be, but I am not sure if it is the percise one to use. Nowhere on the packaging does it say it is a "Dial Up modem." It does not look exactly like the one it replaced. Contacting AOL either by phone or email only results in some information that the modem could be "corrupt." Also the AOL suggestions for fixing the problem only sends me round in circles. I also don't understand all the computer lingo that is used. What is "VGA"? What is "Serial Port"? What is "Window's Dialer"? What is "NetShell"? What is "ACS"? What are "Drivers"? I am quick to learn and have a knack for technology even though I get stuck at times, and I tend to have a good idea of what these words refer to and yet it seems that the AOL advice is in the assumption that the computer that I am trying to enable has all kinds of operating systems and programs and software and such that it actually does not have. Also AOL gives the advice to take the computer back to the store where it was bought for some repairs, but my sister bought the computer a few years back and the store is out-of-business and the computer was the kind that was put together in a random fashion with used parts. It actually worked very well up until recently. I probably will continue to seek advice here until I get things right with this computer that I am trying to get to detect a dial tone and go to the internet; or until I just decide to give up. My laptop is a very old model Gateway which fails to compensate with my orders. When I go to the iTunes store, it won't let me. If I try going on Yahoo! Messenger, it won't work. If I want to go on Skype, that won't work either. All in all, nothing works on my laptop. I am now trying to make a business card, but the software will not let me save without paying a ridiculously expensive membership fee. I've tried capturing a picture of it using the PrtSc button and pasting it into Paint, but it won't let me. Does anyone know a website that offers a (free) software that simply crops the image on the laptop screen without having to use the PrtSc button? Much appreciated. more

I'm buying a laptop tomorrow tax free weekend, and plan on using it for school. Please help me decide. All I can get for 750. The toshiba comes with three accessories (backpack, 2GB flash drive, Norton 12 months.) It also has a better operating system and battery life, but every thing else is better on the dells.
