Elderly woman killed after car flips in downtown Seattle

An elderly woman died Monday afternoon after her car crashed into a downtown Seattle utility pole and landed upside down.

The woman, who police said was in her 80s, crashed about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Eighth Avenue and Marion Street. She was traveling south on Eighth Avenue at a high speed, police spokeswoman Renee Witt said. After her car hit the pole near a construction site, police said it veered into the intersection, turned upside down and landed on another vehicle.

"We are thinking that this may be medically related, but that has not been substantiated," Witt said.

A Fire Department spokeswoman said the driver was removed from the car, but pronounced dead on the scene. No other injuries were reported. Seattle Department of Transportation spokesman Rick Sheridan said traffic was back to normal by 4:30 p.m. more

Biotech companies gather to make deals, spotlight industry

The event was held to spotlight the local biotech industry that is continuing to expand in Alachua and Gainesville, said Patty Breedlove, the assistant director of the University of Florida Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator.

We want people to see how much is really going on here, and how the whole sector is growing, she said.

Breedlove said the event was successful because Progress Corporate Park is the only large, physical cluster of biotechnology industries in Florida.

Attendees of the event were also able to get a more in-depth view of the companies in the park, because an open house was held for the first time. Biotech officials gave tours and spoke with interested visitors as they made their way through the park.

So, I recently installed the Sims 2, Sims 2 University, and the Sims 2 Open For Business on my Windows Vista. But when I was playing it, it would be working fine and suddenly I would click on a Neighborhood or Create-a-Family and it would freeze while it was loading. I uninstalled it and installed the Sims 3, and that worked, but I just find that I don't like it as much as the Sims 2, so I want to see if I can try again. I notice several other people had this problem with their Windows Vistas, and I know I have enough memory on my computer. One of the solutions seems to be a new graphics card, but when I tried to download one I noticed that I had to buy it. Is there any way I can get one for free, and if there is, can someone provide me with a link? Again, I uninstalled all of my Sims 2 games and so I don't want to go through installing them all again if it isn't going to work. So can someone provide me with a sure-fire answer? Voting Question: System restore does'nt work when i click the next button and i get the same result in safe mode. Why?

I recently obtained a virus/trojan named Malware defense and it claims to be a virus protection software when in reality it is the virus itself and it pops up bogus warnings and claims my computer is under attack and then asks for you guessed it, my credit card number. I have tried downloading free software to remove the virus and again they themselves want oddly the same amount of money and your credit card number.. This really makes me wonder if the programmers who create to protect people also themselves create programs to destroy computers as a way to bring in Business. Im telling you this because i don't want you to think im cheap and am only looking to find a cheap way to solve my computer hassle's, this is not the case its because i not only want to save money i also truly believe most computer problems are started and most viruses are created by those who offer services to remove them. Just seems to perfect for this not to be the case so now that you understand my frustration and hate for protection software please do not offer me a way to remove and solve this problem via anything involving a purchase only completely free answers i will read. And ultimately i may have to do a full re format in a worst case scenario because we all know that not even the strongest virus can live threw a re format. more

Well, i have: Intel P4 3.0Ghz(HT enabled) 1Gb of RAM(Motherboard supports up to 2Gb) nVidia FX5500 256MB Memory 3 HDDs:(please ignore the dots) ...Seagate IDE 160Gb (50Gb for Windows XP-frequently used & 110Gb for data) ...Seagate SATA 120Gb (for Data) ...Maxtor 40Gb (for Windows Vista) ...(Therefore, i have 4 drives in "My Computer": C:, D:, E: & F: ) Motherboard: Asus P5V800-MX(supports Intel Pentium D) 1 CD-ROM 1 CD/DVD+-R/RW 1 expansion card installed(Winfast Global-for recording videos) I am a massive internet user(I download alot), multi-tasker(surfing the net while copying files, downloading, printing & etc.), data keeper and absolutely NOT a PC gamer - I use my computer for personal use, education and sometimes business. I edit pictures at 3k-20k pixel sizes, create HD videos, making flash, edit sounds, etc. While watching Eagle Eye movie(copied the file from DVD to HDD) on my XP, my computer restarted on itself. After startup, it showed "recovered from a system failure. A log file has been created" why is that?. I restarted my PC again but, now, it takes more than 30mins loading the startup. I restarted my system again, but this time i used the Vista do some check disks and defrags. I still get the self restart while watching Eagle's Eye on Vista. I suspected that there should be something wrong. I checked the CPU fan and temp, they're: 1950-2000RPM and 42C-51C(are these values normal?) or have i just loaded lots of HDDs? or should i need upgrade system: buy new CPU, add more RAMs and buy higher display cards? or is my OS corrupted* and needs a reformat as well as installation? *Recently, XP showed an error about Dr. Watson(what this?) and then laggs. No errors in my Vista. Any suggestions, explanations, & tips on how to avoid sys failure? Tnx alot!Oopss, mistyped... CPU Fan speed is 3950-4000 RPM not 3950-2000 RPM... I am looking for a program to design business cards. I have seen answers on here before for free sites offering 250 free cards but I am looking to start a small business and was wondering if there is a program (either one I can download or buy) to do this. Resolved Question: I need serious help w/MS Office Publisher 2007 and its related components.?

I recently downloaded MS Office Pub 07 so I could try it out. I designed a business card and tried printing it out. It will not print correctly (align) in Publisher. I am using Avery 28877. When I try to use Word 07 (as I have been instructed to before), I have no "Tools" prompt on my toolbar where the mailings and labels window is supposed to be. When I try to open my business card file in Word, a window pops up with what appears to be my design in encrypted form and the header reads "file converson". I have no idea what this is or how to correct it. I do have an Avery prompt but all that does is give me access to Avery templates which quite honestly is VERY limited in what it will allow me to create (ex. NO lines can be drawn). It appears that I am not allowed to print my business cards with the trial version of this product. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated. more

Resolved Question: Sims 2 Crash Problem ... ?

Right so yesterday I asked this question, and since then I have deleted all downloads, updated my sound card and uninstalled (that didnt work) so reinstalled it. Its weird cos it was working fine then suddenly stopped :S So what happens is, everything else is fine, but when i click on create a family, it loads 2 blocks and the sound jogs and an error message comes up saying the application has crashed. Expansion packs i have are: University Nightlife Open for business Pets Seasons. I have 25GB left on my hard drive, so I wouldnt think that is a problem and it has a 502MB ram i think. Any suggestions ?? PLEASE! :)Ok, so Ive updated my DirectX and deleted them files. The Sims 2 Body Shop doesnt work either, so now Im really confused :S It loads 2 bits, then closes. Any ideas? more
