Old news, for some at least. Especially those in the UK, but I am just now coming across this article for the first time. Do you think the woman is justified in her lawsuit with the Salon owner? Do you feel she was discriminated against? Or do you think it was right she ought not get the position, as a Hairdresser's own hair is oft the same as a business card. I have also read some comments posted about it on a discussion page which intrigued me.....Is it not permissible for a Muslim woman to style and cut a man's hair? What about a Transvestite, as the Salon owner has been quoted as stating a large lot of her clientèle are Transvestites. Voting Question: I want to get P.O. Box but I only have 1 form of ID in my name?

I want to get a P.O. Box so I can have my business be private from my parents (had to move back in temporarily after college), but the Post Office requires 2 forms of Id. Driver's License of course, and then there are other options such as voter registration card (which I cannot find anywhere, although I'm registered at my parent's house where I currently reside), home insurance, and auto insurance (which also is not in my name, because I'm on my father's plan). Can I show them my vehicle insurance/registration in my father's name or what? Has anyone dealt w/ this?  more

well i have many questions first before i show u the desktops im thinking about buying... i heard hp has the best computers and last the longest and ive also heard about acer and thats it good, my bro in law is a it tech and says he doesnt know much about acer because its a new brand that bought out gateway, he loves hp though. They are a fake site. It's been 25+ business days and my order wasn't received. My credit card company provided 2 contact #'s different from their site (402)935-7733 customer service (973)887-1979 business line one is a paypal customer service line, the other is disconnected. if you check their site contact info, their # is disconnected as well. they are a bunch of kids trying to steal credit card #'s. if anyone posts below saying how they increased their site traffic from 3k to 150k (someone posted that before) they are lying, i checked their site traffic its still 3k. Resolved Question: what happens when you break a lease?

i signed a lease for feb 2009-feb 2010 about a month ago. 3 weeks ago my identity was stolen and this person has been using my money and identity to buy random things to send to me--flowers, photos, blank business cards (dont ask because i dont know why). long story short my husband is deployed and i'm there alone with 2 small kids. im scared and want to move onto post, but they cant get us out there for about 4 months. i called my apt mgmt today to see if they would allow us a month to month contract and they wont budge. i plan to break the lease. my question is, what will happen? i have heard some people say it goes on your credit, some say that you just have to pay a fine. does anyone know? thanks. there is a bit in the lease about getting out of the lease with deployment orders so i'm tempted to use those. it covers my husband, me and the kids. JAG wont assist period. they are really not friendly on fort hood. haha! i've filed a police report and all but these people are being jerks and not being polite about this. we are good tennants so im surprised they arent more willing to help. um no but the fact that some crook knows where i live and i'm alone with my kids would make most people work with me. they arent losing anything. month to month would give them $50 extra per month until i move plus the apts there are in high demand so it's not like they would be hurting for a new tennant once we move.  more

I have run my own Business for years and cannot understand the mentality of union workers? When the U/S offered a handout to car giants the unions moaned about that! If i were the government i would say-- stuff you and live in squalor then! Countless U/K company's were lost in the 70`s due to unions. Should workers not be thank full they have a job and a living? Resolved Question: Why does a bank process a check one day and has it post the day before?

So I got a letter in the mail from my bank saying i over drafted. Now One was from a rent check, and one from a small card purchase. Now the bank processes the checks overnight after 12 am. Now according to the bank, "All transactions done after 3 pm, will post the following business day" Now I had a Direct depost post the 19th, and the check was posted on 18th. Now Since the banks computer doesn't process it untill like 3 am on the 19th, why can they say they posted it on the 18th? Now they way they do this means there is no way for me ever to run money into the bank same day. I over drafted twice before and they didn't charge me if i brought cash in same day.  more

Resolved Question: What will it take to lock up a crazy person?

I know of a local man who has mental issues mixed with alcohol issues. Over the years he has done some very odd things in public. However, those odd things are increasingly becoming criminal acts and law enforcement does NOTHING about it. For example; last year, this man stripped down to his underwear, walked around downtown, stole a plastic flower from a business, then walked into a store where a young girl was working, cornered her and exclaimed he was her father! She was mortified. He then went to the yard of the post office and proceeded to splash in the puddle of water on the lawn. The police took him to the crisis center, then he checked himself out and came back to town. A few months went by, when a 14 year old girl was at wal mart and frantically called her dad because some guy was stalking her and rubbing against her. This turned out to be the same man. A while went by again, and he is harassing his ex wife, wanting visitation with their kids (which he had the option to see them under supervision, but failed to show) that he hasn't seen in over a year. He calls their house, sends emails, and "knows" things that happen in the house. She has spoken with the courts for an order for protection, but that's just paper. She has had these orders before, he has broken them and he gets no discipline for it. Just last week, this man made the local paper for burglary of a church and breaking into a woman's house. He went to court today and guess what. He walked away from the courthouse with no penalties. This man is pushing the law further and further, but always gets away with playing the "mental" card. Sure, he gets taken into custody and sent to the crisis center for a day, then checks himself out so he can do it all over again. Who can my friend talk to about this? Why does he keep getting away with this stuff? He is a danger to the community. If it was me who did this, I would for sure be locked up, but he is a mental patient and is "just maybe off his meds." Will it take someone getting hurt before he is finally put away for good?  more

There is a female i sit next to who i thought was my friend, so when i told her i was expecting, of course she spread it around the office quicker than her std she's got. Unfortunately, i had my second miscarriage a few weeks later. In her mind, i made the whole thing up. She proceeded to spread rumors about me, but was nice to my face. I than come home after my appt yesterday, i check my myspace and i have a very long message titled truth serum from a unkown person on a profile created that day and the picture was of a picture she had forwarded me previously pointing out how funny it is. (a picture of a young boy at a baseball game flipping the camera off and its edited to say liar liar pants on fire. Im going to post the message below. need advice on this guy situation please? In a nutshell I have this coworker that I really like and he knows it. Its become kind of a flirty thing between us. Im in a relationship thouigh and he has a girl he is dating. LOng story short, i had asked him to do a favor for my sister at work to get her a good deal on a car. He ended upleaving for the night and didnt get it done. I called the store and talked to the manager and he said he would do it for me. I work at this place so it wasnt like i called the manager on him..just called to get it done and they knew that. Anyway, after all that when my sister called she was told it couldnt be done now because it was too late and the offer expired. I felt like they screwed me and I texed the guy I like and told him that. I also emailed him and told him that I liked him but now I think hes an ******. My phone rang the next day and I said hello and nobody was there..it was him. He then texed me and said that my sister called to late. I called him and got his voicemail and told him how I felt that he said hed help me then he left and my sister got screwed. Well, he sent me a tex and said that he had a fmaily emergency thats why he left and that he doesnt care where I get the car but why did i have to disrespect him. I texed him back and said F-you..I was hurt! he texed me back and just said, OK...OK, what is that? I then texed him abck and said that I was the one that was disrespected and that Im done so dont tex me back..well, he did and his tex just said OK again..what is that? Anyway, I sent him an email yesterday just apologixing for the way I reacted and I havent heard from him. My last day at this place of business was the day before this happened. Why didnt he respond to my apology? why did he act that way and say OK when I said F-you. I know he was fond of me. We had this thing..maybe I just imagined it. WHat do any of you make of this? I;m very hurt because I thought we were friends. He used to say that Im such a sweetheart and an amazing person..and he treats me like this. Resolved Question: new post regarding equal pay law?

Hi, I have read a previous post regarding equal pay and law based on age but mine is a bit different - I was part of a team of two running a shop - I was shop sales and there was a manager too. 4 months ago the manager left and I was offered his position - or to put it another way, I either took over running of the shop single handed or close it down and be out of a job as the owner is a builder (it's a small builders merchants) and has no idea how to run it - unbeleiveble as that sounds, which meant incorporating all managerial duties into my own. I know at the time he was being paid £10.50 per hour and he was working an average of 20-25 hours per week, to quote him "Rob (the owner) says as long as I do what I need to do I can leave when I want" so he did, usually at lunchtime, often earlier - however the shop is open from 8-4.30 everyday, half day on saturday till noon & closed sunday. Long story short he was paid £10.50 per hour for a 35 hour week (verifiable in the company pay accounts) but working 20 - the owner when I took over only offered me £7.80 per hour and I work for the entire duration the shop is open 46.5 hours - as you can see there is a MASSIVE discrepancy in the take home pay at the end of each week - he claims it is irrelevant what Paul was being paid BUT, I am doing all of his previous managerial duties (accounts, stock control, banking - basically everything a shop needs to do to function on a daily basis) as well as the ones he didn't do, as when we were both in the shop I did the majority of the selling. I have asked the owner for £10.50 per hour for the hours I work but when he did the calculation and saw it was £488 per week he basically said that it was too much, I reminded him that even at that level he was still saving £7k from the previous combined wage bill to the shop, he said "I don't care, it's too much" - and he made it very clear there was no negotiation available. Since I have taken over other issues have arisen such as lunch breaks etc but my main concern is the pay difference. I am seriously considering applying to acas for a hearing for equality of pay under the "like work, like pay" and using the argument that the position of shop manager has an established pay rate (Paul was paid that rate and did those hours for approx 9 years) which I feel I should get, but I would like a second opinion or third.. as to whether it has any weight - I have read that acas can charge a fee upwards of £500 for hearings if they think it should not have been brought forward. oh and the material value of employees argument is virtually null as the manager was only at the shop for a year longer than I and I have made just as large a contribution (more some might argue based on sales) to the ongoing trading and value of the business. Lastly I have thought about calling his bluff and tending my resignation but he has planning permission for the premises to turn them into maisonettes, so even though there are loans and debts against the total value of the business and property - I don't really have a trump card to play, and to be blunt he has quite a lot of the F* you attitude. Sorry to make it so long but I wanted to make all the relevant points I thought should be mentioned. Any answers or suggestions will be read and gratefully received, but please no "just quit" as that is a last resort, now I'm manager I feel I can make it a much more profitable outlet, I'm just hoping arbitration might make him see my value and that its better to keep it running and profitable than shut it.  more

In more detail, the other woman as previously posted was at the divorce class, sat across from me, crying-wiping tears and sharing how her husband had cheated on her, and now they were 7weeks going through a divorce- he filed and they have no children. As I had said my husband and I were at the meeting and I shared what brought us to this point. Our divorce issue was because my husband hates my oldest son-period of whom he has been his Dad for 16yrs., my son has problems, and I refused to abandon him, turn my back on him (he is 22). No other reason honestly. My husband asked me to choose b/n my son or him. (My son does not live with us) I did not return to those mtgs, my husband said I humiliated myself?, within 2weeks the crying woman and my husband "hooked up" He sent her roses at work, the card said "Thanks so much for being my friend, can't wait to see you again" and a week later met at a budget chain hotel.Notice how neither one took each other back to their own homes? When I found out all of this I was upset, because I loved my husband very much, was forced to choose one of my children or my marriage. I called the crying woman at her job, introduced myself as the wife(at that point I did not know she was the woman who sat across from me or that she had slept with my husband- he confessed later) I did upset her by calling, she confessed she had to take a xanax and couldn't take care of her next client. Guilt? I shook her up? She knew then she was wrong for what she did? When I asked her how she met my husband, she downplayed everything condescendingly, including not knowing he still lived with me, I told her he still sleeps in my bed! and then she came up with a story they knew each other previously from the past. That she never passed judgement on me, and was open minded about me? WTH? Then out of no where said she had alot of problems of her own? After we hung up I was in shock, she immediately called my husband, who then called me. Before I knew it she had called me back, spouting how she told my husband he had too much "drama", that she had met a "wonderful man" she had been seeing for a few weeks, and basically good luck. My husband in a nutshell told me not bother her again, that I have embarrassed him enough.? It has been 8months since that call, my husband and I are in counseling, he hasn't spoken to her, we have managed to work thru alot- I confronted him and his behavior- he tried to blame me, by saying he wasn't looking, but that I gave her to him.? Understanding what that whole trist was about-THEM.Insecure, desperate, needy and pathetic. Their only commonality was emotional baggage, spouse bashing for sympathy- in my case it was my son. A sick rebound at best. Self Deception: The truth that survives, is simply the lie that is the pleasantest to believe. She was a repository for my husband's hurt over our marriage. I asked him if he had feelings for her, he said "No, just the opposite."? My dilemma: I am still so angry at the nerve of this woman crossing the line into my life, my marriage, my family when she had enough of her own problems to deal with. She knew what she was doing (and so did he).They both knew they were still married, but pretending to be divorced. I really want this woman to know face to face or by thank you card, I know who she was, and why did she think it was her right to step into someone elses life, where she did pass judgement-void of all the real truths (none of her business to begin with) to sleep with my husband? She passed judgement when she opened her legs! The bottom line is I want to confront her, call her out on what she really participated in. Right now she's hiding behind in her own mind, that she is unknown. I wonder what her family or now ex-husband would think about her low down scandelous behavior? Hi, I have a slight problem at work and I'm not sure what my rights are. I'll try and keep it as short and simple as possible. Back in November 2007, I carelessly reversed a company car into the back of a post, causing £300 worth of damage to the vehicle. I didn't have very much money at the time. I agreed with my boss to pay him back by designing a new logo & a website for the company. I design logos and website on the side anyway, so it's something I'm very able to do. The value of the website and logo in question would be of more value to the actual vehicle damage. So they benefit. Several months past and I finished the website and the logo. I did take a little longer with the website than was needed. However, The boss was happy with the website and so was his new "deputy manager." We agreed that I had done enough and they were both happy. The website then went online. A few more months later (November 2008), I was called into a meeting with my boss and his new "operations manager", in which my boss then told me he wasn't happy with the website and he wanted me to pay off the vehicle damages in full. But the trouble is, by this point, they have used my logo on everything. They have it on their cars, uniforms, log sheets, invoices, key rings, business cards....you name it! So what are my rights at this point? I have my own website set up, in which I can do corporate logos at a set price. Am I within my rights to say to my employer "Here is your £300, now can you please not use my logo?" Or can I send them a bill for my logo I made? On Smackdown last week, the whole show revolved around Jeffs new persona, it was just awesome. He has this new look, new attitude, it was all just right. Jeff normally sucks at promos, but on Smackdown, his promo with The Undertaker was just so gripping. Then his attack on Kozlov came out of nowere, he connected very well during the fall on Kozlov, the impression on Triple H's face when Jeff ripped up the contract was Priceless. That brings me to the main event, were both The Undertaker and Jeff shined, it was one of my favorite matches of this year, both had my favorite Wrestlers in and it was one of the best main events not shown on a PPV. Jeff won and came out top because of The Undertakers love of putting people over. Taker is pissed at Triple H because he thinks Jeff, Kennedy or MVP should have the title, Jeff has beaten The Undertaker and has been made to almost look 'unstoppable' because of this extremeness to him. If he can beat Taker, can he beat Triple H? He is kinda old school right now, lately he did The Jaw Breaker, Leg drop to the Groin, the other week he took out Mizz and Morrison alone. Look at the card already, Jeff isn't in a match at survivor series, so they could well indeed make it into a Triple threat. I dont particulary want to see Triple H walk out Champion at Survivor Series, i dont want Jeff to win by beating Kozlov, nor do i want Kozlov as champion just yet. I cant win, unless Jeff actually beats Triple H at Survivor Series. They have been teasing a Hardy title reign for the past 4-5 months, and maybe this snapped, more extreme behavior is the only thing he missed to finally get the championship. *As said on Smackdown, he will be facing Triple H tonight, i wouldn't expect a full on clean win from Jeff but he may just find a way to beat him. My post office keeps delivering my mail to a business that opens all the mail and then reseals it with tape and then it is delivered to my home by the post office, There are banking information along with my personal medical information that has been opened along with credit card bills that are delivered late causing late fees, etc. The 2 addresses are differentiated by a street designation of example a E for east. Mr Penne owns three exclusive Italian Shoe stores in the Brisbane CBD. The main store (with an office) is in Ann Street Brisbane. He employs Melanie Basil on a full time basis as the office manager. Melanie feels that it is her responsibility as the office manager to control the cash flow of the business. He also employs three shop assistants full time (Peta, Theresa and Ruth) and casual/part time shop assistants are employed by each individual store when they are required. The business runs smoothly for most of the time. Everyone helps each other and “float” around wherever they are required. Penne Shoes customers are predominately wealthy individuals and they prefer to pay “on account”. Approximately 60% of customers pay by EFTPOS or credit card with the remainder paying at a later date. A cash register issues a receipt with the purchase price and amount of GST. Melanie opens the mail at lunch time everyday and records any cheques received in the cash receipts journal and receipts are issued on request. After closing each day, Melanie visits all the stores and gets the money from the tills. She reconciles the amount in the till with the cash register tape. If there is excess money in the till it is given to the petty cash fund and if money is missing from the till it is taken from the petty cash fund, this ensures that reconciliation is always correct. Where can people post their ideas for fixing the economic situation where people in government will listen? I have been studying the market for years and want to bounce this idea off people to see if this would work. I have been talking to people about the AIG bail-out and said months ago this would happen. I believe the majority of Americans maxed out on their credit limits and loans. At least the people I associate with have told me that they are struggling to pay their bills now. People can't go back to their boss for a raise in an economy like this and with the credit freeze a lot of businesses can't afford to pay their employees. They are now saying that by 2009 we could reach 10% unemployment nation wide. Why in this climate of economic struggle why isn't anyone making it mandatory to reduce all payment plans on credit and loan payment. I mean everything where people are paying monthly payments. So if you have a $500.00 car note drop it down to $200.0 for 1 year. If you have a mortgage for $1,500 or more drop it down to $700.00 then extend out their loan payments. So the difference they are not currently paying is tacked on to the back end of their loans. By doing this you give relief to people to have more money to spend and the creditors in the long run make more money of the interest earned by extending their credit and loans out. It is a win win situation for everyone. Why is not one looking at this? Granted the on flaw I see in doing this now is that a lot of people will take the excess money and pay extra on their loans or pay off credit cards because people are scared, but I see in 45 months after doing this people will feel better about spending money at retail stores. When Bush issued checks this year to stimulate the economy that is what people did. They squirreled away their money or paid on credit cards. I think if it was done again after Obama is elected into office hoping this will get people to spend I do not believe that will happen. I am not saying that what I am recommending will be a long term fix, but it would buy us 1 year to help correct the problems when are now in.  more

Resolved Question: Is anyone else sick of all the "Giants and Titans in the super bowl" speculaiton?

I'm tired of hearing this. Yes, the Giants and Titans are both very good and in control of their division, and both conferences for that matter. But just look at last years post season and super bowl. Who would've guessed the Giants would've even made it to the super bowl? I don't think there's any way the Giants are going to blow through the playoffs like everyone is going to be expecting them to. They are going to be CHALLENGED. They'll be test by tough teams who mean business, like the Panthers or Bucs from the South, the Cardinals with that high powered offense and the two wild card teams, whoever they may be. Sorry for not mentioning the North, but I think they are going to look very weak when the post season rolls around. I won't get started on the Titans, but all I'll say is they need to step up their offense unless they want to keep squeezing by every week with a field goal. What I'm getting at here is, anything can happen in any game. We're only half way through the season, and we might see a new dominant team emerge out of either conference. yes, i did make a typo on the word speculation.  more

My uncle passed away at 2am this morning from a motorcycle accident. He lived in the US for 40 years and had a green card, and even owned a business. Just never got his citizenship due to a felony on his record. He met a German woman who was here on a temporary Visa. They got married and have a daughter (who was born here in the US) who is now 7 years old. Because of his shocking death, everyone is all over the place worrying about what will happen to his wife & daughter. I know his daughter is eligible to stay because she was born here. My uncle or his wife are not citizens. Will his wife be deported back to Germany? Or is she eligible to stay because her 7 year old daughter is a citizen? Resolved Question: how to get my work in trouble ?

i am posting for my younger sister, my 19 year old sister have been working at a Japanese restaurant about 90 to 100 hours a MONTH. she is getting paid 8 dollars min. in California she is currently being paid under the table meaning that they should not deduct any money from her pay check because after all getting paid in cash means its her own " responsibility" to report her own tax. ( please dont judge my sister for being illegal, she is not some low life idiot, she is currently in school and waiting for her green card to arrive. ) i just found out that she is getting paid about 200 dollars a month when she is suppose to get paid about 800 to 1000 dollars a month. reason being, they said its a tax deduction which is based on her total sales and tips. i worked at a restaurant for 4 years in the past and this was unheard of. why would this be based on her total sale not her pay. what i dont understand is that this 3 star restaurant is located in 3 of high class malls in California. do you think there is legal way for them to be abusing these young college kids trying to make extra cash? can this system actually work? even if they take large amount of tips every night, this should not work in my opinion. how would my sister start this process? she wants to be compensated and wants to get the business in trouble. they are practicing unfair "tax" deduction and not allowing any server to take any breaks other than a quick bathroom trip when they need to. where should she start? i wasnt expecting any kind of some lawyer answers but wow doesnt seem like anyone knows what they are talking about, first of all. being illegal does not take away her rights to do anything. except voting. college take illegal students for more money, illegal people can buy vehicle, get credit cards, rent a property, get driver license as long they have social security. they is alot of things they CAN do. so much people are just so mean.  more

Resolved Question: JOHN'S PLAN: A DISASTER FOR WAGE EARNERS.?

John promises to freeze spending the day he takes office, if he does take office. What will that do? Some say it is good because it will lower taxes, but if a person gives John's plan a bit of thought, they will find it is an extremely poor plan for most Americans. For example imagine 20 million people work for the government in one non essential function or other. The day John takes office those people will all lose their jobs. Spending freeze. The wrong thing to do in a recession, because once the wages and small business money from the government stop coming in, those business and people will stop paying taxes. You don't pay tax when you are broke. So that will stop literally billions of dollars from entering the American economy, and that irresponsible action, could bring down the whole house of cards in the weakened state we are in. What should be done? I don't disagree that government spending should eventually be cut back, but not at this time. Remember the way we got out of the last depression was government spending programs. freezing spending would have the opposite effect, and that is just an irresponsible action, at this time, and we must rail against doing that. You can rent a house, or you can "RENT" FROM THE BANK FOR MUCH MORE. Rent from a bank and they will let you paint that little fence and make improvements because they know after you lose your job of 10yrs, you lose that house. Did they really lose money? No, They already got their 200K back (mainly "Interest the first 15yrs on a mortgage"). Then they take your house. Pay cash for everything you can. Use the money you don't need for bills and start a business, that way your capital is working for you. It has 8,500 people in its database as having said that they're interested in a job, although some may have moved, said Mary Lou Wahlberg, who presents workshops at schools about how to get and succeed in jobs.

Work includes domestic and clerical jobs, child care, jobs helping disabled youngsters, tutoring, cashiers and jobs in senior assisted-living centers.

Although the service says students must be guaranteed the minimum wage of $6.90 an hour, "students won't accept jobs for under $8 most of the time," Wahlberg said. more
