Most small businesses baffled by the web
The web revolution is passing many of Australia's small businesses by, a new survey suggests, with many having little or no web presence and no registered domain name.
Out of almost 1700 small businesses surveyed by accounting software firm MYOB, only 41% say they have a website. Even fewer businesses (29%) actually use their websites for e-commerce.
A slightly higher proportion of businesses have registered a domain name, but they are still the minority with 55% saying they have yet to do so.
The proportion of web-active businesses varies widely depending on the sector. Only 11% of businesses in the transport and storage industry have a website, the lowest of any sector, ahead of agriculture (27%) and construction (29%).
At the other end of the spectrum, 72% of communications, media and marketing businesses are on the web, ahead of cultural and recreation services (71%). more

Unleashing business opportunities in an AEC
Priority sector integration and the formation of the AEC will result in lower business transaction costs, greater regional synergies, higher value creation, and more competitive and dynamic business environment.
Moreover, SMEs have been recognized as the backbone to the ASEAN economies. SMEs in ASEAN make up more than 90 percent of all domestic firms and employ 75-90 percent of the non-agriculture domestic workforce.
However, their output and direct exports are still disproportionately low. This presents another business opportunity for SMEs in ASEAN to form cross-border alliances and establish collaborative linkages with SMEs abroad in order to improve efficiency and production capabilities.
For the ASEAN private sector, including the SMEs, to continue to be an effective growth engine in the region and to be able to reap the vast business opportunities, some new initiatives towards strengthening regional cooperation must be carried out. more

Like a book that gives you choices for wedding invitations - let the customers have the choices, write it up and order them. This would be an easy way to start out before investing in the equipment to do it in house. moreResolved Question: Help on my landscaping and construction business plan i need answers under each topic please help asap.?
Promotion How will you get the word out to customers? Advertising: What media, why, and how often? Why this mix and not some other? Have you identified low-cost methods to get the most out of your promotional budget? Will you use methods other than paid advertising, such as trade shows, catalogs, dealer incentives, word of mouth (how will you stimulate it?), and network of friends or professionals? Should you have a system to identify repeat customers and then systematically contact them? How much will you spend on the items listed above? Where will this money come from? Image What image do you want to project? How do you want customers to see you? What plans do you have for graphic image support? This includes things like logo design, cards and letterhead, brochures, signage, and interior design (if customers come to your place of business). Pricing Explain your method or methods of setting prices. Compare your prices with those of the competition. Are they higher, lower, the same? Why? For most small businesses, having the lowest price might take away from profit margin; large competitors can under price you anyway. Will you have average prices and compete on quality and service? Does your pricing strategy fit with what was revealed in your competitive analysis? How important is price as a competitive factor? Do your intended customers really make their purchase decisions mostly on price? Proposed Location Is your location important to your customers? If yes, how? If customers come to your place of business: Is it convenient? Parking? Interior spaces? Not out of the way? Is it consistent with your image? Is it what customers want and expect? Where is the competition located? Is it better for you to be near them (like car dealers or fast food restaurants) or distant (like convenience food stores)? What qualities do you need in a location? Describe the type of location you’ll have. Physical requirements: • Amount of space • Type of building • Zoning • Power and other utilities Access: Is it important that your location be convenient to transportation or to suppliers? Do you need easy walk-in access? What are your requirements for parking and proximity to freeway, airports, railroads, and shipping centers? Include a drawing or layout of your proposed facility if it is important, as it might be for a manufacturer. Construction? Most new companies should not sink capital into construction, but if you are planning to build, costs and specifications will be a big part of your plan. Cost: Estimate your occupation expenses, including rent, but also including maintenance, utilities, insurance, and initial remodeling costs to make the space suit your needs. What will be your business hours? Distribution Channels How do you sell your products or services? • Retail • Direct (mail order, Web, catalog) • Wholesale • Your own sales force • Agents • Independent representatives • Bid on contracts ......I need answers for these in your opinion for a business plan for a landscaping and construction company please help moreVoting Question: Interested to buy SD and micro SD memory card in bulk / wholesale & resell, does anybody know where I can get?

Thanks moreResolved Question: What kind of business is this? Retail? Wholesale? Service? Or what else?
I'm a graphic designer. I create business cards, door hangers, pamphlets, rack cards, presentation folders, etc etc etc. Here's how a sale goes: 1. Meet the customer. 2. Learn what the customer needs. 3. Bring the need home to get a bid from a company in another state who does all the work, with whom I'm not an employee, partner or anything (just another customer - or "broker"). 4. E-mail, call or hand-deliver the bid to the customer for the product the customer wants. 5. Collect the money (my cost + mark-up). 6. Send the design to the company in another state. 7. Keep the profit. 8. The product is then sent to the customer (blind-shipped so they don't know who exactly did the printing) or sent to me if the customer would prefer that I deliver the product myself. 9. Rinse, repeat. I have found definitions on the internet that say retail businesses: 'Retailing' consists of the sale of goods/merchandise for personal or household consumption either from a fixed location such as a department store or kiosk, and In commerce, a retailer buys goods or products in large quantities from manufacturers or importers, either directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells individual items or small quantities to the general public or end user customers, ... so, I think I'm actually a Service business since I process one order at a time, I don't create the product or purchase it in advance of the sale and I don't hold any inventory. I don't do any work besides making the sale and creating the artwork on my computer. Is this retail because a product is being sold, or is this service since I'm a print broker and sell the service of design which leads to the final product being delivered to a customer's hand? moreVoting Question: Eco-Friendly wholesale supplies for a print shop?

I wish to start a computer business up selling graphics cards. Where can I get reputable wholesale products, I have seen on the internet many websites are selling them from china but are these trustworthy or even the real deal? Thanks moreVoting Question: Product Payment Agreements?
Ok, for the past 3 years I have been doing leather crafting and came up with a key chain design which has been a big hit in my city / and surrounding areas, at local craft shops and such. I have been getting a few emails from different shops around the US and they have expressed interest in reselling them. I do offer wholesale pricing but many shops have ask if I offer a Net30. So they want to test the products in their shops before they actually buy. Well a part of me has no problem with that. Which means in 30 days they either pay for them or send them all back. My website has the abilities to store customer information and everything. So what I'm wondering is, do I need to draw up a agreement or contract that would make it ok and have permission to run their payment info after 30 days, and if so, is there anything on the web that can point me in the right direction of what kind I need? I know its also a risk that I'll get some fake card number or a canceled card. But sometimes a small business has to take a risk every now and then. Any help would be great. Thanks. moreResolved Question: What should I do with my new business cards?

I started a new internet based business selling baby products that I embroider. To buy materials wholesale I signed up for a State of Kansas retailer's sales tax registration certificate and a federal EIN. Now the big question is -- what do I need to do for taxes? I filled out all of the paperwork as the sole proprietor. My husband and I file yearly joint married personal taxes. Can I treat the income from this new business as income on our personal taxes? Do I need to file something for the business with the state of Kansas and / or the IRS? How often? I've read about needing to file (something?) quarterly as opposed to yearly? This is a brand new business and so far we've only brought in $310 gross sales. Does that minimal number change the situation any? Also none of these sales were shipped within KS, and I know internet sales tax is a murky topic of its own... After subtracting off the cost of goods and credit card fees we've only grossed $88 net profit. And if you subtract off all of the surplus materials I've purchased in bulk that haven't been used yet we're actually negative profit. I recently applied to a job for a company called "SXS International Wholesale" a friend recommended to me and they called me for an interview. The only information I gave to them in the application was my name, address, phone number, email, and not much else. There's a lot of things that make me suspicious so I'll make a short list. -The company makes plenty of "too good to be true" claims, like very high pay and my choice of managerial or administrative positions. -The small office where i was interviewed was very empty, both in decoration and equipment. -The business card reads International Wholesale (with SXS in the back, but the last S is backwards) and it only has a number and the first names of three people (2 of which i had met at the interview) -I can't find any evidence of this company anywhere online, which is bizarre considering how big they claimed to be. So i feel certain it is a scam but what would they want from me? and am i screwed with the information i have already given them? moreResolved Question: I am filing chap 7 Bankruptcy Personal and I am self employed, I need advise badly now Thanks?
I am gonna file Chapter 7 Bankruptcy because my unsecured credit card debts are over 85k and I can't afford to pay them back. Anyways I have an LLC where my wife and I own it. Now the LLC is for buying wholesale and selling retail. After we got the LLC, we decided to go into the vending business. So we bought like 13 vending machines and placed them in businesses. Now my question is since my business is buying wholesale selling retail (which could also be for buying chips and candy and soda wholesale and selling them retail in the vending machines) If I file for chapter 7 bankruptcy are my vending machines safe meaning I won't lose them in the bankruptcy. The thing is how would they know that I still have the vending machines at the locations, you see what I am saying. Now I did write credit card checks and deposit them in my bank account when I bought these machines 2 years ago but again how will they know that I bought these vending machines 2 years ago and how will they now that I still have them on locations. I just don't want to lose my vending machines as I depend on it for my income even though it isn't enough to cover all my bills. It is still my livelihood. Can they take my machines away and is there any way to protect my machines? The fact that my business is an LLC, does that make my machines safe from being taken? The bankruptcy lawyer that I spoke with told me that my machines wouldn't be safe in a bankruptcy but I forgot to tell him that my business was an LLC and what if I paid cash for these machines 2 years ago when I bought them, wouldn't that make them safe. Please give me the best possible and correct advice. Thanks moreResolved Question: Who is responsible for the wholesale distribution of Moomins gifts in the UK?!?

can anyone plz help with the addresses of the wholesale dealers of mobile phone recharge cards and accessories in hyderabad. moreResolved Question: Has anyone else gotten scammed by eliteelectronics-wholesale.com or wirelesssuperstore.com?
It was three in the morning and my daughter had been in ebay bidding wars all day and night. I stumbled onto eliteelectronics-wholesale website and couldn't believe that they had one for $249.99. I had a sick feeling as soon as I found out that they didn't offer a choice of shipping. I should have hotcarded her debit card right then but didn't follow my instincts. You can't get in touch with anyone by phone, only e-mail. They won't answer their emails. I tricked them by using another email address and asked why they didn't have a phone number listed on their website. They emailed me back with this one 305-546-8479. Found out a name also, Reginald Barkley. E-mail address is reginald.barkley@hotmail.com. I asked him for a refund on the phone. He asked me whos name it was in and said he would. No refund. Now he won't answer his phone. It says his mailbox is full and he won't answer his e-mails. I know I've lost $249.99 and I'll never see it again but I was hoping to keep anyone else from loosing their money. Do not purchase from eliteelectronics-wholesale.com or wirelesstoyssuperstore.com. This is a scam artist and really good at it. Both websites are identical except for the color scheme and the name. I'm going to the local police on Monday and do what I can to put this man out of business. This is wishful thinking I know but I just can't sit here and do nothing. They say they were started in Miami Florida in 2003 on their website but someone else on yahoo said they are really from California. Who knows. But they had Account Secure icon on their website which made me belive they were a legitimate company. Any help from anyone on this would be greatly appreciated.I forgot to mention that we were trying to buy a Nintendo Wii. moreResolved Question: Have you had a bad experiance w/whole merchant c/c processing or lease finance group?

I am opening a gift shop, and as soon as I have a name, my website will be up and running! The best answer (the name I choose) will get a $10 gift card to my website. I'm looking for Basketball, football Hobby boxes (cards) , any idea where I can get these products. Looking to run a business. moreVoting Question: Anyone know about that home based business selling wholesale products retail?
I remember seeing this on TV a while back, but I can't remember what it was called. It was basically for a home-based business where they supply the items at close to wholesale prices and you can sell them on eBay or your own website for a higher cost. Then you pay the company the difference and have them ship the items to the buyer. Anyone know what this is or where I could find more info on it? FURTHERMORE, I am also curious. I'm sure there are laws against it, but just to be sure, is it legal to do this for other websites? Say, I put an item on Walmart.com on eBay for higher than the WalMart price and then have them pay with a credit card/paypal, and buy the item myself and have it shipped to their address while keeping the difference. moreResolved Question: What do you think of my "bailout" plan?
Instead of bailing out the large banks who caused this mess I have a real solution. Freeze all foreclosures. Legislate that the money that would otherwise go to a "bailout" to banks, be given to the lending institutions that the foreclosing property owners owe in back payments to make them current, so they can start from scratch. Do not include mortgage brokers but the direct banks involved, so there are no closing costs, title searches or that litany of costs typically incurred in refinancing. Restructure the loans for 40 or 50 years if necessary so that the new payments will be lowered (yes people will die before it is paid, but leave that to the heirs to decide to keep the property and continue payments or sell it). Provide the lowest possible interest rate at .01% above the cost of the bank loan based upon the wholesale interest rate. Prevent the selling of any loan on the secondary market to any institution that is not solvent to again prevent another disaster. This way, people get to keep their home, lower their payment and the bank still gets its cash flow that they need to stay in business. Then, legislate that the negative credit reports of these distressed homeowners be erased; with the stipulation that it only include home mortgages; not credit cards or any other kind of debt. Finally, if all else fails, repeal the Bush bankruptcy code so that individuals can claim bankruptcy if they must, and make it so that one does not have to hire a lawyer (which they cannot afford) in order for it to be discharged. It's easy for a big bank to do it, so why shouldn't it be easy for me? My plan does limit compensation to CEO's. The reason I place the money toward the distressed homeowners is because it would be less expensive than $700 billion. If we "bailed out" these predatory lenders, it would send a signal that we will do it again. The people who received these loans are not at fault. The banks told them (ME) that they qualified and that they would refinance these loans later, "No problem" they said. Then when it came time to do that, the banks said, "You don't qualify". My three year ARM was ABOVE prime rate at 6.76% to adjust to 8.9% in 3 years. Didn't tell me that I couldn't refinance before that without paying a $4000 penalty. These were predatory loans that consumers knew nothing about. Why would a bank lend me money if they KNEW couldn't be paid back? I paid my loan on time every month + $50. Then tell me that I don't qualify for a new loan? Because I put 30% down and they wanted my house to sell for a profit. moreResolved Question: Online transactions? Who or what is responsible for security?
I am a visual artist wishing to have my own website where people can buy my artwork directly from my business, wholesale. I have little understanding of how websites even work or how secure they can be concerning issues of online transaction, money, credit cards,...etc. Do I, as the business owner need a really good computer with the best anti-spy or virus software? or do online transactions go through the web-hoster and the web-hoster is responsible the security of money transactions? I was forced to open as a C in order to use my retirement money to pursue my dream of growing a business. Now I am starting to make a little money with 2 stores and keep hearing that Obama wants to take away a lot of my ability to operate. First credit card companies (I cannot even take American Express) take a huge portion. Then getting killed by elevated wholesale costs due to fuel. Utility costs are becoming astronomical. Now I am facing unrealistic taxation looming in the future. How is small business (what is left of it) supposed to survive. The excuse is to go after big business, but we are the ones who suffer. "Forced" means that a C Corporation is the only legal way to transfer retirement moneys into a business startup without paying early withdraw fees that basically take most of it away. I pay and treat employees very well. moreResolved Question: I need help with business license information.?
