Goorjian lauds most talented squad in six years
"It had a lot to do with the ownership, the marketing, and the publicity. What has taken place has put everybody's eyes back on the ball.
"I've been travelling around Europe and seeing how financial clubs are and how much publicity they are getting in the paper.
"There is a lot of marketing going on and there is a lot of television. This is kind of D-Day for us."
Australia's men have not won an Olympic medal in 11 previous appearances. Having finished fourth in 1996 and 2000, they bombed out four years ago in Athens, where they finished a lowly ninth.
Where all the talk among the women's team is of a gold medal showdown with the United States, the men know they must excel simply to make the first cut when the top 12 teams are pruned to eight. more
Melbourne plans risk alienating business and shoppers
A council-commissioned plan wants to make Melbourne an "eco-city" friendly to cyclists and pedestrians, but risks alienating the businesses and shoppers from which the council derives its income.
Bicycles would become the "mode of choice for private transport trips in the municipality, including for work, school, business and recreation".
Remarkably, the Future Melbourne Plan would reduce car traffic into the city from about 30 per cent of those who travel to work by car to 10 per cent. The plan aims to provide shower and change rooms for cyclists, cycle paths and a public bicycle rental system.
Cars will be driven out of the CBD if the plan drawn up by a special reference group is taken up. The speed limit in what the group hopes will become "cycle city" will be reduced to 30km/h. more

Voting Question: Caution by police question?
A few years ago I was working for a man who had me cautioned and I now have a record of a theft from an employer. I was told by the police officer just to sign some papers and it would all go away, however sometime ago I had a crb check and it was on there and doesn't look good at all. The story in its self is not straight forward, I had been left on my own whilst my boss went abroad and I phoned him to ask if I could use his bank card to obtain my credit report from Experian, I explained that I would give him the money back and he agreed this was fine, whilst he was away I had to buy lots of stationery items for the business for which I was never reimbursed. When he returned he told me I had to go as I had used his card without his permission, I explained that I had asked him but he denied all knowledge, next minute I had a policeman on my door. I ended up having to take him to a tribunal for my final wages in the end, but I am worried that this will affect me getting a job when my daughter starts school. Do I just explain the situation and hope they understand or say nothing,I didn't rip my boss off, it was my word against his!! and unfortunately I lost out and secondly the police officer told me that as it was my word against his there was nothing I could do but take the caution, even though he still owed me money!!!! if you have nothing constructive to say, dont comment!!! moreResolved Question: Laser printers/solid ink printers for use with card stock?
I am in the market for a color laser printer to use in my home-based custom stationery business. I currently use an inkjet printer with good results, but would like a faster machine, the flexibility of printing on coated paper and ink that doesn't smear when wet. I use 100 pound paper most of the time, but also use 24# copy paper and 80#-110# paper for various projects. I need to be able to print the card stock from the auto feeder....not manually feed it! I print approximately 500 sheets/week during my busy times. I would like to spend no more than $500 or so, but will spend more if a machine is worth it. I've also just started hearing about the Xerox Phaser solid ink printers and wondered if I should consider those? moreVoting Question: New stationery business - looking for a niche!?
I love design and stationery and want to go into business full-time doing what I love - invitations, cards, corporate products, etc. I am learning letterpress, which is a niche in and of itself. But I would like to offer something that no one else offers or few companies offer. In your experience, what could I offer that is unique in this industry? If you have recently been married, thrown a party or shower, or have any related experience with this type of business, what did you want that couldn't be found? Or, was there something you requested because it was unique and no one else had that? I'm basically doing market research on the invitation/stationery/paper market and I'm looking for any and all ideas! I recently launched a business website and it appears if I type in the business name. My desk has three drawers; but I put my stuff so randomly and it's really frustrating and time-consuming to find a certain thing from the mess. So I would like to get my desk drawers very clean and organized. Since my desk has three drawers (the third one being the biggest), I want to divide my stuff into 3 big categories. Like maybe an average day, not talking about books but more likely, business cards, stationeries, maybe logo, brochure and all that smaller jobs. moreResolved Question: Please help! What files do i need from my graphic designer?
I have recently started my own business and a friend recommended a graphic designer. I am finding him really problematic, and do not want to be in the position of having to hunt him down every time I need something done. I have already paid him over a thousand dollars just to create the logo and when I asked him to send a higher resolution of it so I could use in power point presentations - he blew me off saying the 12k Giff he sent me was enough. It is really blurry and I cant use it in anything at the moment. I also asked him to design my business cards and he is insisting on having them two sided even though I only want one sided. I am now in the position where I am two weeks behind schedule because he wont respond to emails or calls about the business cards and refuses to create one sided ones. Being a start up business I don't have the time or resources to chase this temperamental designer. I have paid for the logo and want to take the file and move on, what files do I need from him to do this? I am not sure what files printers use? Can someone help me figure out what to ask him for so I can move on and get my cards, stationery etc done? moreResolved Question: Ideas for a student shop! please! it's urgent!!?

Hello, I'm in the process of starting a virtual company. Because it's virtual, I have no physical address. In the afterword, Palahniuk says that every Avery Denison stationery package has the address of 420 Paper St. Wilmington, DE 19886. However, Palahniuk has never said that the address is correct, and the presence of 420 indicates that it's a fabrication by someone familiar with cannabis culture. In the movie, on Tyler's business card, it says 537 Paper Street, Bradford 19808. The 19808 zip code is Wilmington, so Bradford must be a village in Wilmington. However, the 288 area code is nonexistant, and the Wilmington area code in reality is 302. However, to complicate things, when the Narrator is being interrogated by the cops, he says the address is actually 1537 Paper Street. Which one is right? moreResolved Question: Do you think it was a good idea to open a custom stationery business?

I want to take down the existing website and link that domain name to the new host where I have uploaded the new website. I recently started a graphic design company. It's just me, no other employees, and I'm still new at this stuff. Mostly I've been doing corporate identity so far, but someone yesterday contacted me about a few things and I'm not sure how to price them all. They are: -business cards -stationery for invoicing -a trifold marketing piece -template for flyers I'm assuming at this point she's already got a logo (because she didn't ask for one). So I need to give her a price quote for the design of these things - excluding the printing. I'm not sure how much to ask for each one. I'm afraid if I ask too low, I'll really be wasting my time and if I ask too much I'll out-price myself and not get the job. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Profit made from handmade cards and wedding stationery?
