Steve Caton, vice president of sales and marketing for CCB, said the alliance will help his company stay focused on core competency.

Resolved Question: my sims 2 keeps crashing?!? any computer tips?

I know I asked this like for a long time, but there have been no good answers to my problem. My Sims 2 kept on crashing since December, and I had no idea why it was doing it. Every time I inserted a disc, the game would load normally, but just when the opening begins this bluish screen appears and this weird error sound occurs. Then it turns itself off. I've been trying to figure out why it keeps doing this. I have The Sims 2 Double Deluxe, University Life Collection, Pets, Best of Businesses, Mansion and Garden stuff and Seasons if that helps. I also have an NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430. I'm not sure if it is the graphic card. I also have Windows Vista, if that helps too. And my computer is a desktop computer, not a laptop. Netflix videos always start out great, but every 5-20 minutes it will stop and re-buffer saying that my internet connection has slowed and that it's adjusting my connection to prevent further delays. The online player on Fox's website is supposed to self-adjust, but it doesn't, it just sticks every few seconds for a few seconds and then plays a bit, unless I pause it & let the buffer fill up, then play it til it's empty and repeat. Hulu.com has the same story as fox. So, I recently installed the Sims 2, Sims 2 University, and the Sims 2 Open For Business on my Windows Vista. But when I was playing it, it would be working fine and suddenly I would click on a Neighborhood or Create-a-Family and it would freeze while it was loading. I uninstalled it and installed the Sims 3, and that worked, but I just find that I don't like it as much as the Sims 2, so I want to see if I can try again. I notice several other people had this problem with their Windows Vistas, and I know I have enough memory on my computer. One of the solutions seems to be a new graphics card, but when I tried to download one I noticed that I had to buy it. Is there any way I can get one for free, and if there is, can someone provide me with a link? Again, I uninstalled all of my Sims 2 games and so I don't want to go through installing them all again if it isn't going to work. So can someone provide me with a sure-fire answer? I recently tried a trial version of Norton Symantec b/c I had a bad bout with a virus that required a complete swipe and reinstall of my os. Tried it for the 3 month period but decided to go with another company. Thought that was the end of it. Only now my bank account is showing a 99.99 hold from Symantec. Not only did they go ahead and charge me for a subscription, they charged me for one that was 3 times the price of the version I was trying out. Each and every time that stupid "subscribe reminder" popped up, it was for something that was only 39.99 for a year's subscription. But do you know the real kick in the pants? I NEVER gave them my cc/debit card number. So how did they authorize a charge on my account? I called the number, got routed to some rude, uncaring peon in an overseas call center who has promised me a refund in 10 days...but only after the charge goes through. Then he goes on to tell me how you can't download a trail version of Norton without inputting a valid credit card number. As if I'm making the whole thing up. I've seen some entries on complaint boards that state the same happened to a few others, but wanted to throw the question out there to see if this is their standard business practice. It's just horrifying that this has happened and scary as well. Norton is a well-known company. I downloaded through a well-known and trusted website. Never gave my account information or any cc information. Never received notification that I was going to be charged. Nada, nothing. Now in addition to disputing the charges (should it go through), I'm going to have to cancel my cc and contact a dozen or so valid companies whom I do business with to get everything cleared up and rerouted. Only I'm not sure that will be enough either because half of those on the complaint boards are saying that Norton still managed to charge their replacement credit cards after they cancelled their others...and AGAIN without the consumer/customer providing any cc information to Norton. Unbelieveable.David, you're a moron. Your answer thus far have addressed teenage angst and topics on licking toes. Do you really think anyone cares what your opinion is? Now be a good boy and go help your mommy in the kitchen.Even if no one else has experienced the same issue, at least this topic is out there, so you will know what can happen. As for the freeware...I tried those. Was on a couple when I got blasted with that nasty bug, so I thought I'd give the pay per subscription ones a try. I'd tried Webroot before with good results. Okay, so I went online and search and already rid files of groups.cache, content registry, TMP files, cigen.package, and the CASthumbnails and all the other thumbnails so my game could work,. well it didn't. So then I looked up the Direct9.0x graphics (my graphic card is a RAEDON 9550) and upgraded my graphic card... after all of that, my game still wouldn't work. I have Sims2, Sims2 University, Open of Business, Glamour Life<< store bought; Nightlife (torrent) and I also downloaded Freetime & H&M stuff as torrents << I also skimmed through this one page and someone commented that sometimes, the torrents won't have compatibility? But I already had nightlife as a torrent for a while and my game worked, then I loaded H&M and Freetime, then it didn't work. So I took off the whole game (saved all working downloads), reinstalled it without Freetime or H&M Stuff, it worked for an hour and bodyshop worked, but then my computer when blue and from then on, I couldn't open it because my graphics weren't compatible, but I already had Direct9.0x << is there something else wrong? more

Voting Question: System restore does'nt work when i click the next button and i get the same result in safe mode. Why?

I recently obtained a virus/trojan named Malware defense and it claims to be a virus protection software when in reality it is the virus itself and it pops up bogus warnings and claims my computer is under attack and then asks for you guessed it, my credit card number. I have tried downloading free software to remove the virus and again they themselves want oddly the same amount of money and your credit card number.. This really makes me wonder if the programmers who create to protect people also themselves create programs to destroy computers as a way to bring in Business. Im telling you this because i don't want you to think im cheap and am only looking to find a cheap way to solve my computer hassle's, this is not the case its because i not only want to save money i also truly believe most computer problems are started and most viruses are created by those who offer services to remove them. Resolved Question: Why should I respect the law when it's impossible to obey it?

I just spend two and a half hours trying to download music LEGALLY, and failed. I've been to Amazon, and it requires a credit card to buy music, and I hate credit cards which are basically usury scams, so that didn't work. I tried using itunes, which allows you to use a PayPal account, which I have, and I thought I was in business, but guess what? itunes requires that you back up/verify your account with a CREDIT CARD. Of course you could also use a debit card from your bank...if it's a Mastercard or Visa brand, which my bank doesn't use because it's not involved in the corporate usury scheme like BofA and Chase, so better luck next time. I didn't give up there, either. I went to iLike, but they didn't have the song available for purchase. I went to eMusic, but you have to pay a monthly fee to use the service, which is a waste of money considering that its search engine sucks and most of the songs(even popular songs) are hard or impossible to find. To make a long story short, the only copy of the song I could download legally without any computer problems was an mp3 file, which isn't compatible with the editing software that I use(Windows Movie Maker). It just plays without any sound at all. This isn't the first time I've had this problem either, and I can't wait until my mp3 player dies in a few months and I have to throw it away because the lithium ion battery is integrated. I find a new reason to hate corporate capitalism every day...*spent* not spendI do make my own music, but the song I need is a rap song for a rap/hip-hop themed YouTube video, and I'm not experienced at doing rap songs. I've been making simple handmade greeting cards using my own artwork as well as store-bought embellishments and papers. (I also use fonts I've downloaded online, but only free ware fonts). right so far we have a crappy wireless sky router downstairs used by 2 office pc's 2 laptops gaming pc 2x PS3 (1s hardly ever used) an xbox 360 also we have a server connected to a few pcs by my stepdads business. so my ps3 has bad connection, not so bad its unplayable, but at least 4/10 games are laggy. Voting Question: Unique situation with my wifi access. Could someone suggest a great idea?

I have a Dell laptop with wifi and it works great. My neighbor lend me the passkey to his internet and I've been using it ever since. I've downloaded movies, music and conducted my Ebay business through it. I recently re-formatted my laptop to run sweet again and it is. I installed all the missing drivers and everything is back to normal. One thing though, my wifi is wigging out! It seems to work fine at the local library. Connects right away and surfs great. The problem is with my neighbors network. It detects it, connects to it but it won't let me surf. The mini-computer icon in the lower right of my task bar shows a yellow flag on it saying the signal is too weak. But even while in front of his house with "good strength" showing on my Wireless Card Utility Tool, it still won't connect and the flag stays there. I've hit repair several times but to no avail. This totally blows and I'm frustrated as heck. I'm missing something. Does anyone have any idea? I've tried to update the driver via Device Manager but it tells me I have the latest drivers. I am going to attempt to Microsoft and install the update which I haven't done. See if that helps. Also I am on XP OS, Home Edition. Looking forward to your answers and suggestions. I keep getting a message that says "failed to find a supported hardware rendering device. Insure that your system meets the minimum requirements for DoW 2. Verify that direct X is properly installed and that you have all the latest drivers for your system." The only Requirement my system doesn't meet, according to systemrequirements.com, is that my video card isn't good enough. It is about a year old and a good one so the graphics should just be messed up a little, but that shouldn't stop me from playing right? It may also be my drivers like it mentioned, but any ideas on how to download the right drivers and how much they cost and, if theyre free does that mean they're not as good as mine? And if i download new drivers for my graphics card how would i do it without messing everything up. If drivers are even the problem. I know nothing about computers and really have no business on here. I'm just really excited to play this game and already bought it with money I saved up.
