Resolved Question: can starting a fictitious business affect my unemployment?

I have been unemployed for a few months and have been collecting unemployment. I want to start a fictitious business (dba) to try to make some money that way. But I am worried that I would lose my unemployment because technically I am working even though i am not making money. Would my social security and my companies worker identification number be considered the same person? Another issue I was debating is: I want to start a web design company. But I only do web design...I dont do logo's business cards, etc. But I know people who do. I would like to say my company does this to achieve more exposure. SO assuming I can start the business and keep my unemployment (until I make money). Lets say my company makes a sale for business cards and logos etc. So I personally didnt make any money because those sales would go to my design associates, But would this be seen as "my company" made money so my unemployment gets cancelled? I really dont want unemployment. I want to work. My biggest worry though is that by "trying" to work I loose my benefits when I am not making a dime. Is there a way to "try" but continue to receive benefits until I actually make sales and start to make profits?Thats my point, its not a scheme. I really want to better my situation. I have never taken advantage of public assitance and hate doing it. But at the moment its what pays my mortgage. Starting a business would be great for bettering my stuation. I just fear loosing the abiliy to feed my family "just for trying". No one can guarantee success in a business, but i need to do SOMETHING. I have to create the designs for business cards, I'm working on illustrator CS3 1)for recto verso cards: do I place the verso under the recto? and does it have to be upside down? 2)I'm sending a separate file containing the fonts I used with the illustrator file. they are going to place the name of the person in the area I wrote 'name' and the company name in the area where I wrote 'company' and so on.... so do I make the 'name' and 'company' words (make outline) or do I keep them as they are? 3)should I have different layers? how many? and what should go with what on each layer? 4)how do I indicate that this is the verso for this card? 5) they want many different designs...do I put each one on a separate page or can I put many on 1 page? more

I made a "101 Reasons Why I Love You" list for my boyfriend of 5 years. I am making this for Valentine's Day so he can have it forever. I've already came up with the list but I'm running into a block when I think of how to put it all together. I like the idea of having it be a scroll and having it framed.. I've also thought about getting individual business cards with a design on them and just writing them out on each one.. and then tying them all together with a red ribbon.. Resolved Question: After 15 years at my job, i realized its sucking the life out of me and i hate it. Should i leave?

Ive been in the same job for 15 years (im 45 now), i started at the bottom and worked my way up to the General Manager, i took the business' numbers from $64k a month (average) to over $105k a month (average). The ideas i implemented turned the whole business around and made it the highest grossing business of its kind in the area. My work ethics are great, im never late, i take one vacation a year (they only give me 1 weeks vacation after 15 years of full time work). Im leary to say too much about what i do for a living because i know some of my co-workers read the "Yahoo Answers" section. I can tell you this, its in the bar & grill industry. I don't smoke or drink or do drugs of any kind. The problem is that im miserable, there's no place to go from here and im not appreciated for my efforts. I deal with all the liquor and beer reps, i do most of the repairs to save the company money, i put on, set up and do all the promotions so there's no outsourcing of costs in that area, i design the online ads myself including writing the codes. There's more to what i do, but that gives you an idea. I have been thinking about leaving for over a year, i've paid down my debt to nothing more than a $550 mortgage payment (plus your normal phone, tv, gas, etc..), no car payments, no credit card debt at all. I've saved just over $50k, i have no children but i do have a wife who supports my leaving if i decide too. Im just worried that with this economy, i could be out of work for a long time and the $50k would go fast. What do you do when your miserable, you hate your job, you do not get the respect you deserve and you just want to go? Please reply and give me some insight, include some information about yourself such as your age and other info that will help me understand that you really understand my situation. I am a senior in High School and I plan on gong to the Art Institute of NYC for Graphic Design.(I live in NYC already.) My family is broke(in debt) and I have to take out a loan to go to college. I sort of have a back up plan if I don't make it after college, because I am aware that most artist don't make that much money to start off with!......I have a t-shirt line soon to become a clothing line in the future.
